North Bondi Fish Ratings and Reviews
Great spot - busy on a Friday night - as you’d expect. Service is a bit hit and miss - they kinda forgot our drinks orders but our waitress was awesome so that made it fine. Food was delicious - sashimi entree very nice - ocean trout filo was excellent. You pay a bit more but for a treat night - it was date night - highly recommended.
We have been many times before and always enjoy the food and atmosphere.
This time however, we were approached by 3 different staff to let us know our table was required in 2 hours, then by another to say that it was required in 1 hour 45 minutes.
This was without asking for drink orders. It really annoyed us all from the start of the evening.
I had already signed off to the 2 hour table when booking on line.
It seems that the more you pay for a meal in Sydney, the faster you have to leave your table.
We had a really good evening: it was a bit busy when we arrived (6pm on a Sunday) and then it calmed down a bit and was a good atmosphere for the rest of the evening.
Food was excellent - well-cooked fish, and some really interesting dishes, with nice touches - and the service was great - really helpful and friendly. (Everyone, and particularly Meggy!)
Our first visit last Saturday. We're a group of 6 and had a late lunch booking at 230pm. To our surprise when we're there it's still packed and we had to wait almost 15 minutes before getting the attention and being seated. We ordered three sides to share: potato scallop is average, chips are good, miso cauliflower is the standout winner and the whole table just love it. For Mains, half the table ordered the bug linguine; it's a bit salty but the bug meats are really declious. The flounder is a bit undercooked. The rump is pretty average. Friendly service and good vibe, quite different from the other eateries around the area.
It's always a pleasure coming back to North Bondi Fish. Whether it be a casual lunch, date night or a catchup with friends - it never disappoints! My wife and I together with our kids had a really enjoyable time. Lunch was delicious, staff were helpful and the sun was shining!
Subject to making a prior booking this restaurant is great.
The food is fresh and well cooked and presented.
The flavours are well balanced.
It can be busy and as such noisy but such is the buzz of Bondi.
The parking is expensive, even at a council meter it was $14.80 for two hours!
We were lucky to find a spot right out front but don't count on it.
The walk will do you good anyway!
We will return!
From the moment we entered the restaurant we were warmly welcomed and the service was like that for the entire time we dined there. It was a cold winter not so busy Wednesday lunchtime so perhaps we experienced a little more attention than the norm. Food was terrific and a great menu. We loved it! Thanks to the waiting staff, great service with a smile - no attitude.
The service was okay but they knew nothing about the menu and the food was very disappointing. The prawns and mussels were both overcooked and the sashimi was just a version of what you would get at local Japanese, everything from a bottle, nothing made in house. Shame
Went to this restaurant because of previous good reviews on the food and service and it lived up to expectations. My family and I had a wonderful dinner. Ambience and food were excellent, and staff were exceptional. Ben our waiter was approachable and knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. Restaurant was not pretentious and we were made to feel very welcome. Would highly recommend this restaurant for food and service.
The food was fantastic, the service exceptionally poor - I think they were all sucking on lemons! The view was beautiful but seemed to be available to the local walk ins rather than to those who had booked in advance. The place was heaving so the noise level was very high and the view impossible to see with all the people.
This was our second dining experience at NBF and the consistency of quality of food was perfect! Nothing was too much trouble for the wait staff. The freshness of the produce, presentation of the dishes and reasonable prices made for a truly wonderful Good Friday dining experience! Highly recommend!
I have had many meals at North bondi fish and normally love it. The service from the front of house manager was appalling. We queued - despite booking. We were told we'd have to share a table with another 2. Had to wait for table to be reset. Our meal was given to the wrong table as we watched on. It was picked up and given to us without apology. Trying to pay we waited 10min while the FOH manager was on phone ignoring us. He gave us the wrong bill twice then got annoyed at us!
Came here with a small group for my birthday. The food was great but the service was average. We physically had to get up from our seats and go up to the wait-staff more than once to be served, for basics such as drinks, and to get menus. For a Friday lunch time, and with prices like these, we would have expected a higher level of attentiveness and timelier service as well as more staff on the floor.
It's a shame, as the food was really good but we felt ignored and not looked after service-wise
What a downfall in twelve months. Cane back for dinner this week.
Extremely slow service, needed to prompt them for nearly everything.
Entree arrived and it looked like something from Junior Masterchef, fought whiting fillets in large soft taco with a blob of supermarket coleslaw st the base. Hardly any fish within the batter, and very expensive for the quality.
Main arrived and the spanner crab omlette was dark brown and without flavour (except burnt egg).
Didn't bother with dessert, and three glasses of wine in total we were hut with a $180 bill.
Won't be back Matt Moran. What's changed? Is it the jack of Sullivan style me thinks?
The food was excellent but unfortunately the whole experience was brought down by the poor service.
The staff were new and possibly training last Monday night.
They made plenty of mistakes - bringing us the wrong dishes to the table, ordered prosecco and given Verve and then told to return this glass because we would be charged more for the champagne.
The staff didn't know the menu when asked about particulars.
Overall very disappointed with the service that's its hard to recommend this plac
