North Bondi Fish Ratings and Reviews
The service was okay but they knew nothing about the menu and the food was very disappointing. The prawns and mussels were both overcooked and the sashimi was just a version of what you would get at local Japanese, everything from a bottle, nothing made in house. Shame
Went to this restaurant because of previous good reviews on the food and service and it lived up to expectations. My family and I had a wonderful dinner. Ambience and food were excellent, and staff were exceptional. Ben our waiter was approachable and knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. Restaurant was not pretentious and we were made to feel very welcome. Would highly recommend this restaurant for food and service.
The food was fantastic, the service exceptionally poor - I think they were all sucking on lemons! The view was beautiful but seemed to be available to the local walk ins rather than to those who had booked in advance. The place was heaving so the noise level was very high and the view impossible to see with all the people.
This was our second dining experience at NBF and the consistency of quality of food was perfect! Nothing was too much trouble for the wait staff. The freshness of the produce, presentation of the dishes and reasonable prices made for a truly wonderful Good Friday dining experience! Highly recommend!
I have had many meals at North bondi fish and normally love it. The service from the front of house manager was appalling. We queued - despite booking. We were told we'd have to share a table with another 2. Had to wait for table to be reset. Our meal was given to the wrong table as we watched on. It was picked up and given to us without apology. Trying to pay we waited 10min while the FOH manager was on phone ignoring us. He gave us the wrong bill twice then got annoyed at us!
Came here with a small group for my birthday. The food was great but the service was average. We physically had to get up from our seats and go up to the wait-staff more than once to be served, for basics such as drinks, and to get menus. For a Friday lunch time, and with prices like these, we would have expected a higher level of attentiveness and timelier service as well as more staff on the floor.
It's a shame, as the food was really good but we felt ignored and not looked after service-wise
The food was excellent but unfortunately the whole experience was brought down by the poor service.
The staff were new and possibly training last Monday night.
They made plenty of mistakes - bringing us the wrong dishes to the table, ordered prosecco and given Verve and then told to return this glass because we would be charged more for the champagne.
The staff didn't know the menu when asked about particulars.
Overall very disappointed with the service that's its hard to recommend this plac
What a downfall in twelve months. Cane back for dinner this week.
Extremely slow service, needed to prompt them for nearly everything.
Entree arrived and it looked like something from Junior Masterchef, fought whiting fillets in large soft taco with a blob of supermarket coleslaw st the base. Hardly any fish within the batter, and very expensive for the quality.
Main arrived and the spanner crab omlette was dark brown and without flavour (except burnt egg).
Didn't bother with dessert, and three glasses of wine in total we were hut with a $180 bill.
Won't be back Matt Moran. What's changed? Is it the jack of Sullivan style me thinks?
I've dined at North Bondi Fish many times but this was by far the worst experience and I am unlikely to return. The waitress was rude, and unaccommodating. When making menu inquiries, she spoke to us as though we had three brain cells. All of our sides didn't turn up. We were charged for something on the menu that we didn't order.
On this occasion, the food was sub-par. My partner and I ordered the steak to share and the majority was inedible due to the fat content.
Great food, however poor service. Got told we could only have our table for less than 2 hours, and then took at least 30 minutes to get the drink menu and even get someone to take our order, so were very rushed out! We barely finished our food and got told we had to vacate the table!
Food was fantastic and so is the location. I had the fish tacos and bug meat linguine both of which were very nice. The service to begin with was poor. We were shown to our seat and forgotten about. We eventually had to wave someone down to place our order. The restaurant is very noisy so it is difficult to have a conversation.
Pleasantly surprised! The last time I visited the restaurant was chaotic, it was over the Christmas period. This time service was great, all the food was really delicious, fresh and fast. We had visitors from the UK with us and they wanted fresh and light fish, NBF nailed it - all 4 of us really enjoyed it.
This was one of the most disrespectful dining experiences. On a wet Saturday, we visited for lunch but never finished! On arrival we were told that we had to vacate our table by 2.30, but we could move to another table. On this basis, we ordered our entrès. The entrès took 40 minutes to come out, despite being cold raw dishes. At 1.55pm, the manager informed us that they would not allow us to order mains as we wouldn't finish by 2.30, there was no alternative table and we had to leave.
Food was very tasty and well presented. We would definitely recommend the food.
But the service left us disappointed. We had to try and get the waitresses attention to order a drink. No water was brought to the table.
Our waitress would have rathered of been somewhere else than at work. She was very casual and did not seem interested at all.
She also forgot to order our salad. I had to ask 3 wait staff before it finally arrived after we had finished our meals.
The setting is great, especially if seated near the windows or on the balcony. The food is fresh, tasty, mainly catering for seafood lovers. Service was hit and miss. We had to ask the waiter to take our order after being seated and waiting for quite a while. We had to ask for the bill a couple of times. This is the area I'd say the restaurant needs to work on. Service wasn't very attentive or friendly. A smile doesn't go astray or maintaining eye contact every now and then with the tables. It wasn't a busy time when we were there. That said, the food was very tasty and certainly worth trying!
Mutton dressed as lamb
Fantastic location, great service but... the prawns are grossly undersized and fish tacos average (had better $1 pub tacos). Expected a lot more from this restaurant. Nothing original or innovative just a significant dent in the wallet
Just head upstairs to the RSL
Really enjoyed celebrating my birthday here last week
The food was great
However music far too loud, and that was a big disappointment on arrival
Glad when it finally stopped
Staff were accomodating when we asked to move outside and then finally got to enjoy our meal out there too
Too loud! Food excellent, service great until we wanted the bill, then very slow. There were 3 of us, we wanted 3 tacos as part of a share meal, had to order 4 seemed a little unreasonable when you offer share plates. Was grateful that mayonnaise was put on the side for mayo hating husband. Liked the ease of booking online. Liked being able to book!
The waiting staff were excellent, friendly and engaged without being overbearing. We asked to add chips to a steak instead of onion rings which the chef said wasn't possible. This is odd especially as another guest was ordering a dish that came with chips and so the chef was clearly just being difficult. I ordered the fish and chips as did one of my friends and we both fell sick the evening after our lunch so overall not great experience at all. They desperately need to fix the kitchen staff
