We have been to Noir several times and each time it seems to get better. We had the tasting menu. The combination of dishes and flavours was excellent. Good blends and contrasts. The waiter was very personable and helpful. It must have been a difficult night for staff because the lockdown was to start the next day. Yet they made it a very memorable night for us on our anniversary.

The menu is just a pleasure - ala carte is great and the Sunday lunch options of two or three courses with bottomless wines are amazing. There is also a 6 course and matching wine that is just a dream. The sizes are perfect so at the end of your degustation you are comfortably full but not stuffed. The staff are delightful and the decor stylish and welcoming. Will be back!!

My pasta entree and fish main were both luke warm/tepid, pasta sauce was not even tepid. Poor effort when there's such a small number in the restaurant .

Obviously we were in a good frame of mind for our first post-ISO eating experience, but our lunch here was just wonderful. Interesting dishes, well prepared and nicely presented. We actually had two entrees and a desert which was nicer for lunch than a full main. Service was great - quick, attentive and friendly without being obtrusive.
The steak was extremely tough, apart from that it was an overall great experience.

This was a perfect place for a catch-up with long time friends. A small menu meant that everything was outstanding. The oysters with champagne granita were a hit.

Full flavours of France. Great ambience & friendly, helpful staff. Could have had a few more French wines, but overall a good mix of local, interstate & o.s. wines. Love the open windows at the front, but pity they can't be closed at the bottom & open at the top, as noise, dust & breeze sometimes is a bit too much! Overall a great experience. Merci à tous!

Unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience at your restaurant on Friday, 31 January when I took for very important clients out for lunch to impress them. When I made the booking online for 1:45 PM, I had no idea that at 2:45 PM the waitress would be asking us to hurry up with our main food orders as the kitchen closed at 3 PM.. Then when our meals were bought out, they were not of the standard expected of a restaurant with a price point such as yours. Steaks that were asked to be medium rare came out medium well and when we informed the waitress of this she said that the chef needs to hear this feedback as he is learning and needs to know how to get it right. The restaurant was also incredibly hot to the point where all of us were sweating and eventually we spotted a small fan behind us and put it on so that we could feel somewhat relieved of the heat. All up it was quite an embarrassing lunch for me in front of such an important client group.
Everything at Noir strikes the perfect balance between low key bistro and special occasion restaurant. Friendly and personal service, yet precise and refrained. Outstanding food, balancing French standards with experimental quirks, and without pretension. The interior is elegant, well-considered, beautifully finished, yet simple, warm and inviting.
My partner and I love Noir, there are so many great places to eat in Melbourne and we keep coming back here. Everyone we have bought with us has loved it too. Please keep up the good work guys, don’t ever change

This is our third visit to Noir and we were very disappointed. First the ambiance is lovely and on a Wednesday night the noise level was all good. We have been on the weekend when the noise level is such that it is impossible to have a conversation as the tables are so close together.
Also the service was welcoming and professional. The venue is very much weighted to sea food (which I am not able to eat). We had the duck as a main and whilst it was acceptable it did not have a 1 one hat wow flavour. The duck at Chez Oliver is much better in my opinion.
The wine list has lots of selections scored out (not a feature of a 1 hat restaurant) and needs to be updated. The price is at the 1 hat level but not great value. I hope the owners review their menu as Richmond definitely needs fine dining restaurants.

Service and knowledge first class
We had imaginative, delicious and immaculately presented food. The service from Alice was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and obliging. BYO wine was welcomed and served stylishly (we were there on a Thursday), the tables were generously sized and well spaced and the music was pleasant, subdued and not intrusive. This was an outstanding restaurant experience.
