Nobu started as a business partnership in 1994 between chef Nobu Matsuhisa, his partners actor Robert De Niro, producer Meir Teper and managing partner Richie Notar. With the original restaurant in New York, the Nobu brand is now currently established in many locations around the world including London, Tokyo, Las Vegas, Milan, Hong Kong and Waikiki.
Nobu restaurants continue with unprecedented praise and rave reviews from such notable publications as the New York Times, the Zagat Surveys, and the Michelin Guide. The restaurants’ perennial popularity and devoted following are a tribute to Nobu putting his own personal spin on traditional Japanese cooking.
Food was nice but service terrible for the amount of money we spent on this corporate lunch. Food was slow and drinks even slower. We had to order the same drinks 3-4 times before they actually came.
very high quality food, very fresh.
Food was good but the dining experience was let down by the noisy ambience. We didn't expect the noisy ambience for a well-known Japanese restaurant.
Waiter forgot my edamame beans. Seated next to cashed up bogans who were so loud and drunk I could not have a conversation with my friend who was sitting less than a metre away
Nobu was everything I thought it was going to be and much more! Wonderful attention to detail and the food is exquisite!
We have been to Nobu several times but not for a while. as always it did not disappoint. The food is delicious and the service is fantastic
The food was sublime. Unfortunately we were constantly having to shout to hear each other talking because it was so loud. The wait staff did not explain to us that the Nobu way is to order dishes to share even though we were asked if we had been before and we said we had not. We ordered two of the same dish and waited a considerable time for the third dish to arrive only to be told the dishes come out at different times and we were meant to share. That being the case, we didn't really need two of the same dish. We had travelled from interstate to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday and were overall quite disappointed. We would not recommend Nobu.
The staff at Nobu were very accommodating to my dietary requirements and tailored a delicious meal for me that did not leave me feeling like I was missing out. Whilst expensive, the food was exceptional and I would highly recommend the bento box option.
We loved our experience at Nobu, from the moment we walked in we were warmly greeted and received fantastic recommendations catered to the group's tastes.
The venue itself is beautiful and great for celebrating a special event. As a larger group (8) we were set up at a round table which made it easy to converse with all.
The quality of the food was excellent and wonderful for sharing together.
Truly a night to remember, made magic thanks to Nobu.
Never been before and always wanted to go
We pre booked before we arrived in Melbourne
Defiantly recommend we loved it all
Had special deluxe bento it was amazing thank you
Nobu never ceases to amaze me
Our server was awesome, recommending us the food, drinks and amount to order. All our dishes were great and we will definitely come again to try other dishes.
Overated. Had heard good things. Went for lunch and would describe it as a glorified sushi bar.
Dinner may be different?
Each time I come to Melbourne I always come to Nobu but this time the food was ok not to mention you pay top dollar not good enough for ok food. The service was very bad this time. They forgot some of our order then she asks if we want dessert we still are waiting for our remaining food I say. It was just terrible I think it’s time for a new place while in Melbourne.
I was quite shocked at how bad the service was from the minute we sat down. No one approached us with any water or menus for 10 minutes. I tried to make eye contact with staff but no one looked my way. It was fairly quiet too as it was a Sunday evening at 8:30pm.
The food was also quite disappointing. The Wagu beeef was very fatty and tough.
We have been to Nobu in New York and the Melbourne Nobu is well below standard.
It was very over priced too.
My Fav restaurant. Always outstanding.
One waiter was very softly spoken which is not ideal downstairs but no complaints.
Food amazing and staff attentive as always.
Although the food and service was fantastic, the portion sizes for the price was a huge letdown.
The decor could also do with renovations as it's very outdated.
Apart from that it was still a memorable experience that i would be happy to have again
Being wiser now with the portion sizes and quality.
Reliant on its reputation, the food is good but very overpriced. It would be hard to recommend it in all conscience.
Nothing made it special we were very disappointed. Coming from Perth and experiencing nobu there, Melbourne was so disappointing. Sat downstairs. No views sat downstairs felt closed in and very loud. Upstairs had a nice view at least but weren’t offered to sit there. Plus it was my birthday and was looking forward to a nice meal and cake out not happy at all.
As always the food was amazing. The staff and friendly and engaging and know the menu very well. They make you feel so comfortable when you dine here.
Exceptional service, felt really taken care of! Food was excellent quality. The staff were very informative about the menu items and carefully explained which dishes were suitable for our dietary requirements. We felt relaxed and comfortable to spend the evening celebrating and didn't feel rushed. The service staff were genuine in wanting to meet our needs, checking in if we were satisfied but without hovering and interrupting our experience.
Thank you for making our night special.
Second time eating here and the food was as wonderful as we remembered.
Fresh fresh fresh....
Soft flavours to start and finished with a pork dish that had a touch of fire.
Service was professional with a friendly vibe.
Always attentive without being obtrusive.
Would always recommend to friends visiting Melbourne.
Having dined at Nobu many times before we were looking forward to the same exceptional experience we’ve had previously . Unfortunately the service for our lunch was very lack lustre (getting service for a drink was challenging) fortunately the food was of the same exceptional quality we’ve come to expect at Nobu
I loved every dish. Great for date night or a group celebration.
Excellent food! Everything was delicious!! Bento box was great!! Yellow fin tuna was delicious! Awesome ambiance! Staff was super professional!
We planned our anniversary at Nobu and were not disappointed. From the second we walked in we felt welcomed and the service was at a 10/10 the entire night. We got the 8 course meal and every dish just got better. It was possible the best night of food we have ever had and they even personalized our dessert as a surprise for our anniversary. Amazing work. We will definitely be back.
Everything was amazing, had a great experience and would recommend to everybody.
Small thing to watch out for would be that they suggestive sell appetisers and water bottles without specifying price. 1L of water set me back $13, which was annoying but not annoying enough to complain.
Overall, I would suggest having a look at the menu before going in and expect amazing service/ food.
First time in Nobu and it was an amazing experiences. It was really noisy and my partner could compare it to the Nobu restaurant in Las Vegas, where it was very quiet. But the food was excellent, refined and tasty and it was a lovely place for our romantic dinner. The waiters and waitresses were kind and explained skillfully every dish of the Nobu Signature Omakase we ordered. Will come again and would definitely recommend.
Nobu is the best restaurant I have been to in my entire life. The food was immaculate, absolutely worth every penny. I can't express how much I love this place. I live in Sydney, but I'd gladly move to Melbourne just for Nobu. Our waitress, Susan, was the sweetest lady ever! She is highly professional and kind and assisted us with the menu a lot. She is a lovely lady. We will definitely be back!!
Cómo siempre sobrepaso nuestras expectativas, es de nuestros favoritos!!!
I was very surprised by how disgusting the food was as nobu has such an international reputation. The food was really bad and it definitely was not worth the many pennies I paid for it. While the staff was pleasant enough and did remove one of the items from my bill, I would not personally recommend someone going there.
First time at Nobu and loved it. You get what you pay for and it was fresh and the sauces were amazing. Fantastic service and great location.
Food was amazing, top class and elegant - it got a little bit noisy at certain times and it was rather cold where we were sitting so had to keep my jacket on during dinner which isn't ideal
The food was great as it usually is. We had returned for the amazing cocktails too, but was so disappointed when we were asked for ID we didn’t bring as we were both 30 and had not used it in the past 10 years! It was more frustrating that we were asked to show ours, and yet the apparently teenage looking girls next to us were not. It seemed we were the only ones around us that had been asked. This ruined our experience here and it’s unlikely we will come back again.
Always happy with the service and the phenomenal food
Always love going to Nobu and the bar afterwards is always great for a night cap
Great unique food, beautiful presentation great taste
Was nice food for my wife's birthday. The waiter didn't just take our order blindly as he mentioned that we might have ordered too much hence he will wait a bit to see how we go with the existing portion then come back to us later. That was a nice pleasant gesture as we hate wasting food. He was the older Asian gentleman with glasses. Just missed his name.
I live in a remote part of Australia and when I come to Melbourne I like to try Nobu. I’ve been a few times now and I think it’s overrated and really expensive for what you get compared to other fine dining restaurants. The service was great and the food was good but not amazing. I tired the signature spicy tuna, it was good but wasn’t spicy. My husband really liked his wagu tacos but they were tiny for the price. We left hungry and our bill was nearly $300 for 2 people. I think it’s a bit rude.
Food was amazing and service even better. Would recommend!
