Nido Bar & Pasta
The waiter greeted us as we entered. He was very cheery and was prompt in his service and our requirements.
The food was very tasty but we found the prices expensive and the the food was"nouveau cuisine meaning not much of it. We had to search the menu to find something to enjoy but when we achieved that, it was good. Entree size at expensive main course prices
The wine lists limiting and the prices outrageous. A bottle of shiraz (one only choice) @68 was a joke.
I know that the "Weekend Australian" had the restaurant as one of Australia's best so I was disappointed.
Thank you for the experience but one of our group remarked that this restaurant may only have a short life!
Simply Outstanding. A great experience on a cold winter's day. You can see why Nido is in Australia's top 50 restaurants.
Fantastic dining - food , service and vibe of the restaurant . Thankyou .
Great friendly service, delicious fresh food, cool decor but a bit cramped, and a bit over-priced.
Excellent modern Italian, with some quite gorgeous starters .
Well chosen wine list.
Was eating alone, so sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen.
Quite fun, and the guys looked after me well
Our pasta meals were fabulously rich and decadent. We really enjoyed the wines and the restaurant is very European. Highly recommend people visit this restaurant.
Really high level of service, and suggestions of dishes we may not have ordered were spot on
Fantastic service. The best I’ve had in a long long time. Genuine people which is what I think is important. The Food was outstanding. Italian flavours and ingredients but in such a unique way that I’ve never had before. The music was a little loud for me but it was Friday night and I’m probably just getting old.
Promised everything that we expected.... a good experience all around.
Wonderful attentive staff from the moment we walked in.
Fantastic food - we did the long 'taste me' and every mouthful was superb.
Delicious food! Loves the whipped ricotta and yoghurt gelato.
Second visit and it was again a brilliant experience. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, the food is really delicious and we love the atmosphere. Reasonably priced given the quality and location.
The food and drinks were excellent and the waiters were very personable and professional. We were impressed that the restaurant was packed on the night we went. Only issue for us as somewhat older diners was the noise level, which was very loud given the close proximity of other guests, hard wall and floor surfaces and the relatively small space to hold 50 people. We will definitely go back again, next time with friends.
Second time around with similar (significant) noise level which in a small restaurant means that talking is an issue at times. Food once again excellent prompt service, small ( too small for me) by the glass wine list. This take on Italian food made in Adelaide hits the mark I loved the pork ragú. Portion size good, absence of bread in an Italian themed restaurant a strange thing! But I’ll be back for more.
The decor and ambience was great. The leaf salad was delicious, but we all found the pasta dishes very ordinary, for example the lamb ragu dish, the pasta a bit gluggy and the gnocchi were slightly better but not the best for an Italian restaurant. The best dish was the sirloin. Lastly the crab fingers were not good value for money at $13 each. Overall a very ordinary experience.
Expected a better lamb ragu pasta. Too gluggy pasta and lamb chewy, also not seasoned. Tasted re-heated . Potatoes side dish were burnt. However ambience and wine great and service pleasant. Would like to try again and order something different and put this experience down as a one off.
Great atmosphere, loved the vibe and the knowledge of staff was great. They were in really good spirits too.
The only thing I would have said was just a tad too much Parmesan. And I would have loved some cracked pepper.
Wine and dessert was unreal!
Definitely recommended. We will be back
This is definitely my new favourite restaurant. If I could, I would eat here every night!
Had the best night at Nido... food amazing, wine good, service exceptional... love, love, love x
Excellent service , Tasty food . Perfect lunch or dinner for 2 . Venue is small & noise level high as seating is close together. Hopefully when KW Road works complete & weather is warmer there will be more seating.
you could be in Melbourne or the Mediterranean, Nido has the "buss".
Menu and service was excellent.
We will return soon to try more on the menu
Perhaps there are some teething issues at this new restaurant, the waiting staff were brilliant, however our entre' didn't arrive (although it was brought later and free of charge as a result). One of our group had difficulty arranging a vegan dish - which arrived with parmesan granish - and so had to be prepared again. The music was a little over bearing. Ambience and decoration/fit out is great, the floor plan is tight and moving through the restaurant is squeezy. Meals were good quality without being brilliant. Will defintely give it another crack in 3-4 months to see how it has progressed - ludos to the wait staff who did everything they could to make our experience and enjoyable one.
Nice food, excellent service and good fun...we enjoyed our first Nido experience and will visit again!
Good ambience. Food tasty however felt the chefs tasting menu was expensive (a few small sharing starters, 2 small pastas and a meat as the main and 1 dessert between 3 people) at $70 per head.
Loved the Whipped Ricotta, Black Pepper, Honey with gnocco fritto. Salumi del Giorno, Pickled Onion was like mamas. Potato Gnocchi, Wood Roast Tomato, Pancetta soft and tasty. Cavatelli Neri, 'Crazy Water', Poached Fish, Goolwa Pipis just nuvo!! Yes, music a bit loud and 80's ??
Excellent food! Great service. Just one point - please turn the music down :) Just too loud.
The staff are fabulous.
The Gnocchi was the best I've had.
Really lovely and we'll all go back.
Experience only marred by late in lunch the dreaded road works taking part in conversation...but at least it was at the end of the meal. I noticed that we weren't the only ones who left slightly earlier than we would have with out that noise. Not your fault, be better when the road works are finished.
Great atmosphere and food. Will be back! Went on a Wednesday night and it was clearly 'girls night out'.
We were very disappointed with our visit to Nido Bar & Pasta. We were greeted by very friendly staff who were able to provide us with great information on the meals. Unfortunately, the whipped ricotta with honey was very ordinary. It was drenched in honey and sickly sweet, I could not finish it. The fried bread accompanying it was delicious. My husband had the anchovy finger and was very disappointed as it was very underwhelming and a bit on the hot side. I had the lamb pasta as a main and, to put it mildly, it was horrible. I love chili, however, this dish was absolutely overdone with it. It was SO HOT and once again, I could not possibly finish it. My husband had the pork chop which was very tasty but also very fatty. Overall, we did not really enjoy our visit. Maybe we just got them on a bad night which was unfortunate for us.
Food was fabulous, staff were lovely, but noise level was over the top
Shame no Shiraz on the menu ,would of stayed and had another bottle and dessert if they had ..
The fact that it is winter is a poor reason
What a wonderful new restaurant. Food was amazing and the staff were fantastic!!
First time at Nido’s, booked as recommended food was good and it was excellent. Table for two was next to the door which was a bit negative as cold draft each time door opened but the ambience was excellent and it was a minor inconvenience as dining late @ 8:30 so only 3 lots of people left before us. Food portions good, excellent taste and great value for money too. It was noisy but I think that reflects well on how everyone was clearly enjoying themselves (it is a small dining space). Would definitely recommend giving it a go, will be visiting again.
Fantastic night at Nido! The whipped ricotta with honey is so good I could eat it for breakfast lunch dinner and dessert! Excellent food served by great staff.
Some of the best food we've eaten in a very long time. The service was exemplary - friendly, professional, and prompt. The place was packed, but everyone seemed to get their orders in appropriate time. We had the gnocchi - little pillows of heaven - and the cavatelli neri with pippis - truly a masterpiece of punchy flavours and so beautifully presented with squid-ink infused pasta and a glorious broth. My dining partner had a lovely looking chocolate dusted cannoli (I didn't taste it, but she swooned), and I had a great blue cheese with home baked biscotti and some chutney. All accompanied y an excellent Veneto pinto grigio, very reasonably priced. Going on what was being served at the adjacent tables, I'm going to need to return, again and again, to try more of the chefs' impressive menu. A dining high point!
Wonderful night at Nido's. Sitting at the bar with the open kitchen servery was fantastic, as we had the opportunity to see what was on offer first hand. The food was amazing, so many new flavour combinations that I hadn't previously experienced. Max and his team run a well organised, fun filled restaurant with great food. My guest & I even sang our all time favourites as the music pumped up towards the end of the night. The service was exemplary - Christopher made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back, we had a blast!
If I could only eat 1 dish for the rest of my life it would now be the whipped ricotta and gnocco fritto.
Celebrated a birthday here as out-of-towners on the strength of an excellent critic's review. It was heartily deserved. The service was slow to start with but, once in swing, was excellent: attentive, fun and energetic. Indeed, the enthusiasm of our waitress was so great I was surprised to learn she was not the proprietor. The food was worth every critical salute it has received. The anchovy soldier fingers are a compulsory antipasto - crunch, salty and delicious. One is not enough. We followed with the gnocchi trippa rosata and the osso busso - both of which were sublime. The restaurant - intimate and well designed - was full when we arrived despite major roadworks outside that seemed almost designed to inhibit patronage. However lucky Adelaidians know when they're on to a good thing and the restaurant filled several sittings over the course of the night. We left very happy and satisfied and determined to return when next in the City of Churches.
Delicious small plates were very good for lunch for2
Enjoyed this visit more than dinner.
