What Insiders Are Saying
Nice Matin is an upscale French spot with lunch, brunch and dinner.
The bartender was great. Amazing drinks, great personality. Our waitress was wonderful and efficient. Dinner was delicious.
Food was very good. Service was very slow and somewhat inattentive.
I love coming to Nice Matin for many occasions—for drinks outside with friends, for dinner with family—and Nice Matin never disappoints. The servers are very attentive and the food is consistently delicious. I appreciate the theater pre fixe menu that allows us to enjoy an appetizer and entree for under $30 per person—pairing that with one of their tempting signature cocktails (my faves are the St. Tropez and the Monaco!) makes the meal complete. I recommend this place for a meal for two to eight—they are kind to bigger groups—or for a refreshing drink at the bar. Such a fun place to people watch too, especially when the large doors are open!
This is a quintessential NYC restaurant. The food is good, the ambiance is great, and
you will be treated with respect. It's not 21 ... but close enough.
Arriving before our reservation, we were seated outside at our request and then forgotten until we asked for a menu and a drink order. Once we were acknowledged things got better. The food was above average ( appy ramp tortellini and entree crispy skin salmon is recommended) and the service improved dramatically. The pre theater price fix menu fit our needs perfectly before seeing Seinfeld at the Beacon. I would go again.
Bright and beautiful, but slow on this particular visit.
Overpriced for small portions and smug environment. Staff pleasant enough and food certainly adequate but a bit of a scene so overall not that special. They don’t even offer bread on the table. Works for the neighborhood given absence of stiff competition. Tight squeeze for table settings.
Really good brunch selections!
Nice Matin is wonderful. The food is prepared with great care and attention to detail, and the staff are all very gracious and professional. It's an underrated Upper West Side gem.
Lovely as always and the windows were open onto the patio so it was so beautiful!
We stay at The Lucerne and enjoy having our breakfast at Nice Matin. We also enjoy dinner there too.
Nice room, albeit very noisy. No need for music. I've eaten there many times.
Maybe someone didn’t show up, maybe someone quit, whatever it was the last time we ate here the service was awful. I don’t simply mean inattentive and slow, but also reluctant, unresponsive and surly. ‘‘Tis is not typical, but management should take note.
Food always good but never excellent. We go for the ambiance, beautiful restaurant and a "vacation" from the hectic city.
Too loud. Lost my voice after one hour and a half.
Arrived early but was seated promptly. Table spacing was excellent. Conversations stay private. Menu was a great mix between traditional and inventive. Really enjoyed taking my upper West side friends out to dinner in their neighborhood and leaving them impressed. We were able to enjoy after dinner espresso and mousse and wine without being rushed. 5 stars all around with attentive yet unobtrusive staff. Not expensive!
Returning from a matinee with dark clouds threatening we were very glad we had reserved a table at our Hotel Restaurant. Surprisingly the bartender was familiar with a French 75 cocktail (Soixante Quinze ). It was most enjoyable. Crispy skin Salmon and Lobster Forte were expertly prepared. Who could resist a Calvados for dessert - not us. For an authentic French dinner any time of year, this is the place to go!
Always enjoy this restaurant. We always have friendly service and an excellent meal at a reasonable price. Mussels were delicious and so was the salmon.
I was very disappointed in my dining experience. We had eaten here before but it was before I had dietary restrictions. I had a very difficult time since the food was all marinated ahead of time and since I don't eat beef my choices were very limited. My husband enjoyed his dinner.
We are Francophiles and love the food though out the chain. My husband wishes bouillabaisse was a daily offering!
It sadly ain't Nice, but its still very nice. Happy to dine there and pretend ( try to get a sunny Spring day on the sidewalk).
Sollid food, good service, a little expensive for what it is. Good place for conversation, business meeting, etc.
Very nice!!! Really liked it! Keep up the great work!
We had a great time with our group of 6. Would definitely return for any special occasion. Food was excellent.
Enjoyed the prix fix dinner, Lobster Forte was great as well as endive salad. Bread pudding was mediocre. Dining room was half empty, but we got squished next to the service station in a curved banquette table for two.
I've gone to Nice matin many times and really liked it. This time, I loved it. The food was wonderful and My friend whose birthday it was loved her meal too. I'll certainly continue to go to your restaurant.
Server was awesome! Food was good but not great. Stick to the hamburger.
Good food, but expensive and very, very noisy, Did I say the noise level was very high?
We’ve eaten at Nice Matin many times over the years but Sunday night maybe our last. It was a strange dichotomy - superb appetizers (tuna tartare, octopus, salad) and insipid to inedible main courses (steak frites, chicken paillard, ravioli, hamburger).
Always consistently good. Great wine menu too.
Every dish is great with various choices of wine and dishes and pre-theater sections are very good. I especially love their grilled tuna nicois salad which is difficult to get a good quality piece now days. Enjoy nice and short walk to Lincoln Center after my meal. Love this place.
The chicken Pailard is always my favorite. We were able to sit outside, which is always nice!
We celebrated the birthday of a friend at Nice Matin and enjoyed a delicious brunch. Each of us had different dishes and were all very pleased with our choices. We weren't rushed, although the restaurant was full and I'm sure there were people eager to have our table. All in all, a very good experience.
Very interesting menu with lots of options. Food was well executed and presented beautifully. They had an option of not on the wine list selections of wines by the glass which was fun.
Enjoyed the food (the duck mousse liver appetizer was a real stand out), just be prepared for a lot of hustle and bustle, noise and the requisite Upper West Side sirens, etc. when the glass doors are open.
Great food, nice staff
I've walked by this place a thousand times but never went because it is a bit pricey. Got to take someone there for business. The food was excellent, my dish which was a seafood dish, was around $30.00, glass of wine was $15.00 so you will pay a fair amount for your dinner but it was very good.
This is a chick French Bistro with excellent food, Parisian atmosphere and good service frequented mostly by locals. I keep returning every time I am in NYC. It is slightly overpriced but worth it. Friendly for couples and solo patrons.
Wonderful, light and airy atmosphere. Great food and service. One of my favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as brunch.
Diverse menu; delicious food; great service from beginning to end; very knowledgeable and helpful sommelier (Carson); I have dined at Nice Matin on several occasions and hopefully will have many more opportunities to do so in the future.
