New Chapter Ratings and Reviews
We had a great time at New Chapter celebrating our anniversary. The food was divine! Had the beet terrine-wow! The cauliflower soup was good, just needed a bit of salt. Had the lamb and hake and ate every bit. They even did a surprise dessert and wrote "Happy Anniversary" on it. We went out of our way to try New Chapter while in Edinburgh and it was well worth it!
Family lunch at New Chapter all agreed had been perfect choice. Various dietary requirements were handled with ease and everyone was able to make a choice from the set menu. Service was excellent but the food definitely won the day. Innovative menu, beautifully presented and all courses tasted wonderful what more could you ask, excellent value and we will be sure to return.
What a lovely way to spend a cold, windy, Friday afternoon in August, with friends enjoying all that is on offer at New Chapter. We all thought everything about our lunch was superb. We have been here many times now with different friends and family and are never disappointed. Please, please keep up the great service.
The restaurant is tucked away in a residential area, quiet, neat, elegant but not stuffy. The staff are friendly and not overpowering. The food is beautifully presented and combines unusual ingredients expertly - the seasoning is just right, and the lunch menu is entirely affordable. A wonderful find!
Had a lovely birthday lunch here on Friday. It's small - the table was booked for 1.30 and it was pretty full when we arrived. Good value set menu - £15 for 2 courses and £19 for 3. House wine very reasonable too. Would have even given it 5 For food, but the main course (pork loin with pulled pork) was tasty but too salty. Otherwise all good and excellent value.
Worth venturing off the beaten track for. The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection - as was the lamb. Very good value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant and it was one of the best meals we had in Edinburgh in this price range.
My friend and I had dinner at New Chapter during our theee days in Edinburgh. It was by far one of the best meals I've had in years. The food was delicious, creative and beautiful. My friend had scallops for a starter and the presentation was exquisite. I had the chicken liver parfait with a red onion chutney that was equally amazing. My friend had the chicken breast and I had the lamb, and both were presented beautifully and were thoroughly enjoyed. If I lived in Edinburgh, I'd be a regular
We had an overall pleasant mid-week meal here to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Would recommend the scallops and the sea bass dishes. However mackerel dish was very bland, as was chicken with black pudding. Overall we were a bit disappointed that the food was not great, given the reviews we had read.
Have been to New Chapter many times , mostly in the evening and the food has been amazing Felt disappointed with lunch Both my starter and main were okay but nothing like the tasty dishes I've eaten here before. I had a chicken dish and it just was quite stodgy and unappetising. My friend's lamb was tough and chewy which was also a disappointment.
I would still go back but maybe next time will ask more questions about the food before I order.
Me and my partner were in Edinburgh for her birthday and I decided to book a restaurant , so I looked on trip advisor and new chapter were in the top 10 so my exspectations were already high . The food was amazing ! Service was perfect, our waiter Justyn was very atentative and friendly who made it feel very special for her . I would highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions or a very nice date out .
It was a lovely treat for our taste buds. I liked how the kitchen had been adventures with the ingredients and flavours but not gone overboard. It was a good price at lunch time. The service was good too. We will definitely go again. Good for group bookings too.
