Restaurant did not seem to know that we had a reservation and there was no space available for my three person party. They added a chair to a small table which was ok but not ideal as the seat narrowed the hallway and made it difficult for others to pass through. The server disappeared after taking our initial order so we were only able to order one drink each. No one came to ask us how we were or if we needed anything for about an hour. We had to flag someone down to get our check. Then had to flag down another person to actually ring us out. The food was good but not worth the neglectful service.

Book the reservations two weeks in advance. When I got there I was disappointed to find out We weren’t going to get seated. The manager fail to notify myself and everyone that made reservations that night. Their excuse was they had an Private event schedule for that night.

Stopped hear for Friday happy hour on my wife’s birthday. The service was outstanding, and the vegetarian samosas rocked!

Really enjoyed this place. Came for happy hour with friends. Food was good, cocktails were inventive. Our server was Elaina, who was fabulous! She gave good cocktail & food recommendations & tended to our party. We never felt rushed or bothered. Atmosphere of the place is casual/hip with varying age groups but mostly young. I’m on the older side but didn’t feel out of place. Try their wine dispenser — it’s cool.

They were out of ingredients for four different cocktails that we tried to order from the menu. Drinks ordered as a group took 10 minutes each to be delivered individually, and we were the only people in the bar. Kitchen closed at 8:30 pm

We had a confirmed reservation through OpenTable, but when we showed up they said they were closed for a private party. I left a voicemail regarding the situation and no one called me back. Disappointing.

I don't know whether it was because they're still finding their footing or what, but the experience we had here was NOT GOOD. The service was by far the worst part, but honestly the food wasn't that much better. Do not recommend.

Nero was wonderful! Small and intimate with great ambiance! We came for a date night and all of the food was delicious. My favorite was the shrimp risotto my boyfriend loved the pizza fries and samosas. The drinks were also delicious and our server was nice and attentive. We’ll definitely be back soon!

The drinks were good, but the food service was very poor. I ordered a pizza and it arrived after my date finished her meal. They made no effort to apologize or acknowledge their mistake. I will not return and won’t recommend it to anyone else.

Chose Nero as a spot for my birthday. Walking inside it feels cozy. The food was decent, the drink list was full of variety and delicious. My one take back is working on space for multiple parties. I booked a group of 9 and was informed there was a large group before mine, so once getting there the seating was in the back, a little cramped and kind of awkward. We made the best of a situation though--ended the night with some cake and shots, compliments of the restaurant.

I made reservations and they sat us at a table in the middle of a hallway between the bar and the restaurant. We ended up moving to a small table against a wall in the bar area. My friend ordered something they ended up being out of (seemed like they were out of quite a few things in the menu) so she ordered the shrimp and risotto which they must have forgotten because she still didn’t get it after everyone else was served. We had to ask about it twice and when it finally came out it looked like burned shrimp that hadn’t been fully thawed and my friend didn’t finish eating it because it tasted off.

It’s better as a place for cocktails and the only thing I liked about it was the black and white movie they played on the tv.

They apparently haven't been open long, and the initial greeting and professionalism left a lot to be desired. It would be the reason we wouldn't go back or recommend them.

They need serious hospitality and service recovery training. Ex>Zero greeting when standing at the front of the room and then the bar for quite some time. Not even a 'hold on' glance or smile when multiple people walked by, and I kept smiling at them. Finally I heard someone tell a guy (manager?) that someone appeared to be waiting. The walked directly past me, to the person behind me, who had just walked up. Just oblivious level of service or attention.

Then they messed up our reservation and debated it until I showed them my Open Table app reservation. Due to their mistake they had no table, and pulled some very ugly tables from storage and put them directly next to the bathroom and expected guests to be okay with that. The server did apologize several times after we basically asked if they were serious, but did nothing- not offer a drink, not offer for us to wait at bar, not get a manager after we nicely stated we’d like to speak to one, etc. When we said we'd wait for a proper real table we received weird comments implying how the other guests were more important. Honestly I have no idea what was going on. I don’t think the server was trying to be rude, discriminatory, etc. she was just very under trained and didn’t know what to do or what was proper to say.

Again, the food was 5 out of 5 once we got a real table after about a 30+ minute wait, but so are a lot of other places in DC that value their customers more. And I promise, we are the least uptight/mean customers. We’re very ‘go with the flow’, but the level of indifference here was not okay. I was really embarrassed I'd taken my guests here.

We went to Nero to celebrate two birthdays in our group. The staff had reserved a table and placed little birthday hats for us (a really nice and personal touch). After dinner, they came back with small cakes and shots to celebrated the birthday boys! The dinner was excellent the staff very friendly and the ambiance was beautiful. We are definitely going back.

Not sure if there waitress was having an off day, but not very kind. The owner would walk around the restaurant constantly sipping on his wine but never bothered to offer help to staff or customers. The pizza, however, was incredible and so was the rest of our food.

We made a special trip to the city for our anniversary and wanted to try Nero's. We were disappointed. The service was poor and not attentive at all. After waiting 30 minutes for a drink refill (which the waitress had forgotten apparently), we gave up and moved to the bar. The food was ok, but they have limited options. Partly my fault I think as the place was a younger crowd and it was noisy... I should have investigated more thoroughly. This is not a "nice restaurant" as the website would suggest... but it seems to be a decent bar if you want to party.

What an odd night. I walked into what appeared to be a bar crawl, so at 6:30 on a Saturday the place was a straightup nightclub. I finally made my way to the bar and asked about my 7:30 reservation, which seemed to remind them they had reservations. They were cool about clearing out the back room, though, and seating me in a comfy chair to wait for my girlfriend, and they were great about offering me a drink on the house and a private table in the back for all the confusion. Problem was, at one point when my girlfriend and I got up to get wine, one employee asked if we'd mind moving to a small table so a larger group could take the table we'd been given, but before we could answer, we looked back and saw that we were already being moved! Her purse was just on the table with a huge group of strangers. They were nice about comping our food (except they couldn't make one of the three things we ordered because the broiler was broken), but yeah, you probably shouldn't move people in the middle of their date. Finally, the wine club thing they do (where you load money onto a card and get wine from a dispenser) is a cool idea, but it took twenty minutes each time to fill up the card, and each time I had to return to the bar because it wasn't unlocked. All in all, a fun place when it's not crazy, but I don't think I'd go back, as there were just a lot of problems.

I’ve been to Nero a few times and love the novelty and innovation of a wine tap. The food selection is also unique in its multi-cultural spin of Italian dishes. However, the service needs to be improved. The three wait staff working there had to cover the whole restaurant and the bar. We’d order drinks and then wouldn’t see our waitress for maybe twenty minutes to order food or refill the wine card for the taps. Otherwise, great bar.

Our waitress totally forgot about us, even though it was a dead Sunday night and there were very few patrons in the restaurant. Kind of disappointing because I was really excited about the wine menu.
