We were keen to try this new restaurant after seeing Anna Haugh on Saturday Kitchen and because we are from an Irish background and wanted to try her food. We were not disappointed. The service was warm, attentive, informative and personal and the ambience was conducive to a fine meal. As it should be, the food was the star. We started with oysters, large and plump and refreshingly natural with a lemon zest based dressing instead of the usual mignonette. The Irish Soda bread led to a request for the recipe from a pro and the signature starter of black pudding in potato is superb, as was the more ample pig croquette.
The signature hake main course was excellent but the taste and tenderness of the beef fillet with the sweet unctuousness of the sauce drew gasps of delight. The novel beef boxy is inspired.
Desserts were to die for especially the rhubarb and buttermilk panna cotta aided by killer doughnuts. The dark chocolate tart was perfect.
The wine list is short but covers all of the bases with some excellent lesser known producers of fine wines. The “by the glass” list is limited but all of the offerings are first rate, so very pleasing. The Seghesio old vine Zinfandel was a delight and the Austrian Sauvignon Blanc was a fine discovery.
All in all, a great night, a very welcome addition to the London dining scene and we can’t wait to bring friends and go back.
Family trip to London with a 17/20 year old. Great welcome ,fabulous food and drinks - can’t complain about anything !
Had the taster menu with wine pairing. Food was excellent, and good choice of wines too.
Will definitely go back to try other menu.
The food and service was excellent. The dishes were very creative and delicious
A very enjoyable evening. The food was delightful and the service impeccable. We had a delicious meal with the right level of interaction with everyone in the restaurant.
Anna Haugh was the chef on the day we went for lunch. Her attention to quality, taste & detail
was excellent. Welcoming friendly & knowledgable service. Highly recommend.
The food, staff and atmosphere were all fantastic. Would recommend the black pudding starter and hake main. Will be back.
Great tasting food, lovely atmosphere, not expensive, happy to return. Deserves a star!
Seriously good food. Really good and attentive service without being overly fussy. Constant flow of U2 and Christy Moore playing on the sound system. Watched Anna Haugh on Sunday Brunch had to taste her food. Did not disappoint. Best food I've eaten in London and I've lived here 8 years!
Recommend by friends,we are Irish and my main course choice of Bacon and cabbage was just delicious, would have liked some more.Appetiser of soup before starter was lovely.Well done to chef
A brilliant and unpretentious restaurant with an outstanding menu
Great food and wine sensibly priced
Chef patron Anna and her team offer fantastic food and wonderful wines
A really great evening
Thanks you highly recommended
Thanks to Saturday kitchen for show casing Anna’s food
Beautifully presented but unpretentious, delicious food with a delightful Irish theme throughout served in a simple unfussy restaurant by friendly staff. It still has that intimacy that family French restaurants used to have; particularly as Anna the head chef took the trouble to come and find out how the guests enjoyed the food.
Superbly creative cooking with unique flavours and beautiful presentation. Attentive and knowledgable service.
Great place with simple but delicious dishes. Informal but non intrusive service. It was relatively quiet on a weekday lunchtime, but I expect it gets quite busy in the evenings.
Every mouthful was wonderful. Go. You won’t regret it.
Really delicious food and lovely to meet Anna. We will be back.
We had a lovely evening in Myrtle and thoroughly enjoyed the food, especially the boxty, Clonakilty Black pudding dish and the beef. Amuse bouche soup with seeds and toasted hazel nuts was also gorgeous. Friendly staff and a lovely hello from Anna who was in and out of the dining room also added to a nice evening in this lovely part of London.
Delicious fresh food which was presented beautifully by a team of delightful and friendly staff. The best restaurant I have been to in London. Can’t recommend it highly enough! Thanks to Anna and her team.
A amazing experience of tastebuds exploding to the many amazing flavours . Food ambience staff outstanding . A little gem in Chelsea.
Warm and friendly staff, who had extra heating on on a cold night in November and asked us to say when we eere warm enough. Excellent desciption of food, which was delicious, I rarely eat black pudding but this was the best, and the Hake speciality moist and full of flavour. Out with old friend, also foodie, who loved the beef with clever dumpling (stuffed boxy), and it was easy to gossip the evening away. Sadly no room for pudding, but we did manage Anna's version of Irish Mist. Great addition to this area, and very accomplished offer.
Food in Myrtle is an impressive marriage of a simplistic approach to ingredients and a complex attention to taste, thanks to the incredible head chef Anna Haugh, The menu is short yet very inspiring. pork croquette was so reach and flavorsome and the beef fillet main was just melting in the mouth. Service was immaculate and the atmosphere just divine. Felt very proud being from Ireland myself. Will be definitely coming back.
We went to Myrtle Restaurant in Chelsea for lunch on my birthday (somewhere in the 80s) because I am an ex-pat whose love of cooking was inspired by Myrtle Allen. I applaud Anna Haugh’s homage to Myrtle though the wonderful dishes offered were a distant relation of those early days. Anna uses Irish produce where she can and the menu is scattered with familiar names. The restaurant is small but the tables are not crowded one of top of another and if you’re lucky Anna will leave the kitchen to enchant you! We loved our dining experience and thoroughly recommend Myrtle Restaurant.
Welcoming staff. Fantastic food. Relaxing place to eat. We will be back
It’s my third attempt to get to this restaurant. Glad I persevered. Oysters were fantastic as was the hake. Have already re-booked to test some of the other dishes.
We brought our 17 yr old daughter to myrtles for her birthday. She is a big fan of good food. Myrtles was exceptionally good. From the soup appetiser, clonakilty signature starter, hake to dessert. It was definitely a culinary experience. Lovely to be greeted by Daniel the manager who looked after us so well. Great service. A hidden gem... thank you for a memorable evening....
The food was fantastic , I would highly recommend the boxty cake and the panna cotta. Anna took the time to come up to the dining room and talk to us about how we found out about the restaurant (and Saturday kitchen) and it was really appreciated, you can see how hard he is working to make sure you as the diner have a fantastic experience.
I think the waiting staff were slightly inexperienced, which led to an issue at another table but it did make the evening interesting.
Great job Anna and team.
Classy Irish restaurant that combines excellent creative cooking with an informal friendly atmosphere.
While it was a quiet lunchtime, I'm sure that Dan, the newly appointed manager, would have given us nearly as much of his time explaining the owner and Head Chef's background and aspirations for the restaurant. All in all an excellent experience which I intend to repeat in the near future.
Couldn’t find a fault with this restaurant, service was first class, food was delicious, will definitely be going back again!
We enjoyed this restaurant, excellent waiter but it lacks ambience and was slightly on the cold side. The food was good and tasty but the starters were tiny and lost on the dishes/plates they were served on.
Would I go again not sure
Such a sweet place with outstandingly good food. Its a slightly strange layout and feels as though the tables might need some re-arrangement as it settles into its stride. But the food is remarkable.
Excellent food. Young chef on her way to a Michelin star.
Beef beautifully cooked. Flavours in jus amazing. Talent here without a doubt.
A few niggles on service - don't remove plates from table until everyone has finished their course and change the music playlist. Will certainly go back to this restaurant and recommend it highly.
Very relaxed, friendly but authentic experience.
We ate here on a busy Saturday evening. The food was excellent as was the atmosphere, service and staff. Lovely menu and everything we ate was delicious.
Friendly but professional service & most delicious food from quite a broad menu.
Really great food, using excellent ingredients and treating them well. We were very well looked after by all of the team. The cherry on the top (if you're Irish!) is the soundtrack to your meal, which took me back to my teens, in a good way! Looking forward to our next visit.
The most delicious food I have had in ages. Friendly and efficient staff
Really really nice.
Food lovely, worth the money (a bit pricy)
The menu and the wine list are small but beautifully put together. I have been twice now, eaten different things each time and been very impressed. This is 'country cooking' at its best as it comes from the heart as much as from the head. The charming service - this seems to be an all-female establishment - only adds to the pleasure from start to finish.
A lovely evening. The food is thoughtful original and delicious and Anna Haugh’s finesse shines through. The staff under Ziggy are a delight delivering great service in a relaxed but efficient way. Cannot wait for our next visit.
I really want this chef to succeed as her food is special. This was my second experience and it wasn’t as good as the first. We wasted 8 minutes while the Latvian waiter looked for the set menu. Then he omitted to tell us that there was the dreaded mercury filled salmon in the rather too potato filled fish cake. The beef was superb as was the black pudding and veggie starter. The wine list is weird with far top much austrian and german wine by the glass. Mercifully there was a Macon Chaintré by the glass off the list, which saved the day.
This is an expensive restaurant so these details are important. I wish her well
