Muse - Food, Wine & Books
Contemporary yet warm and inviting, Muse is an inspired venue for conversation, ideas and indulgence, both literary and epicurean.
Lunch: Monday - Saturday 12:00pm - 2:30pm
Dinner: Monday - Saturday 5:00pm - 9:30pm
Lovely night out with family for anniversary dinner. Great food, wine list and service.
Muse has a lot of character. I like having access to the books. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable concerning the menu.
The location and general ambience of Muse is attractive. The place was busy but the service, while friendly, was slow and the staff appeared stressed - we were a group of 7 and had to seek out menus after being seated for around 15 mins, and attract staff on two occasions to order coffees and meals. The food was good, not great, and the experience would have been significantly enhanced by some smiling, willing and engaged staff.
Exceeded my expectations. Will definately be returning for future lunches and dinners.
I was shocked at the price of the meals. My small green salad was $25. I won't go back again because of the price.
I’ve been a few times now mainly for breakfast. Perfect venue for a girls get together and you can hear each other talk. Waiters always friendly and on point with one remembering to bring another coffee out at same time my food arrive. The food is always fresh and good portion size.
Impressed with the food quality, atmosphere, and dedication to catering for dietary requirements.
Muse never fails to please. It's my go to for just about any occasion!
The breakfast we ordered was good value but the noise level made it impossible to have a conversation even across our small table. Outside was too cold to move tables . We therefore will not be going back for breakfast on a Saturday.
Fantastic service. So good at making you totally happy and comfortable.Amazing food!
Sensational seasonal menu albeit with slightly small portions. Excellent staff and fantastic ambiance. If only they would have a piano player for most evening seatings - it would be sublime! One of the best vegetarian options in town.
Our breakfast food was absolutely delicious. A ham soufflé that melted in my mouth, bacon so thick it needed carving, perfectly done poached eggs and delicious bread/toast. Even the coffee had beautiful crema. But our first coffee took 1/2 an hour from order to arrival. Busy place yes, and we had a wait for our food which we expected. But getting some coffees out or even water to our table would have gone a long way to passing the time waiting to order and receiving our meals.
Muse needs to look at the number of staff in at that time of the weekend morning so they have a chance to keep up with the customer influx. I believe they were doing their best, just not enough staff to keep up.
We will return because.... the food. Just maybe after 10 on the weekend.
we picked muse specifically because it had advertised on the site and a article from the owner that they had a piano The customer were welcome to play and that they encourage it. We have an eleven year old daughter that plays piano (she can actually play and play very well) we did it as a surprise for her. when we first arrived, she asked if she could play it and was told yes. It didn’t have a seat with it so we asked a waiter, they went out the back to ask and he came back and told us that she was not allowed to play it, that it’s too “fragile to be played” and only played by people they bring in to play it. We were not happy, first time Iv heard a piano referred to as fragile like that, she played 150 yo ronisch grand a few weeks early in a restaurant, the manager made sure she could play first and was all to happy to let her play more songs for the evening . Muse felt rude, and seem they were making excuses instead of being honest, that they either assumed my daughter couldn’t play or had an issue with sound. This negative feedback is not to any waiter we had as they were just doing their job passing a message, the food was lovely but we will not be going there again.
Lovely place for weekend brunch with delicious food and great surrounds.
Another great meal at Muse - recommend the wine flight
The strawberry moose was great, but other food fell short of our expectation for the price. The raspberray dessert was unpleasant to eat.
A colleague and I enjoyed the meal and service was great, however noise level from other table encouraged us to leave earlier than we would have.
the waiter and waitress were very welcoming upon arrival and knowledgeable with the food and wine.
the food was very well matched for the price (value for money) and was absolutely DELICIOUS !!
would highly highly recommend muse for any occasion at any time of day
We had a lovely meal, attentive service, were able to hear ourselves speak and the round table was a winner!
Really great service - very accommodating of our family with young kids. Kids meals were perfect in size and taste and all the other food was also very fresh and tasty. A top pick for us in Canberra.
Lovely quiet venue with great atmosphere. Nice meals, good service.
A cut above... have been there for a book launch and breakfast... now I live in the area I’ll be a regular 😀
A pn up to date smart casual restaurant with professional friendly efficient staff, great food and pleasant decor. Loved our breakfasts both mornings and dinner one night. Always a good spot to eat when we stay at East hotel.
A lovely cosy corner, lined with books, in the East Hotel where you can catch up with friends over a nice leisurely breakfast which can be anything from hot cakes, to eggs your way to porridge or granola to even a soufflé or bruschetta. Or a simple order of Three Mills Bakery toast. The staff were efficient, & never once tried to move us on while enjoying a breakfast catch up that ran well into the lunch hour... we would have been tempted by the lunch meals & glasses of wine if it weren’t for our breakfast laden bellies. It will have to mean a return visit, perhaps when someone is playing the piano in the corner ...
It was nice to go to breakfast where there is space, quietness and also good value for money. the coffee was great, food also great and nice knock to be fighting for space. Great spot and will definitely be back for breakfast and other meals. I have visited Joe's Bar quite a bit next door and this is just as great.
I have been to Muse between 4 and 6 times over the past month. I love it. I have taken my partner, family and friends and recommended it to others. Everyone, without fail, have loved it. Highly recommended !!
I chose this restaurant to meet up with friends, based on the review on Trip Advisor. We started off sharing some Tuna Sashimi and deep fried prawns, both of which were quite tasty. For our mains we all ordered the Seafood Bisque which was on the blackboard menu. It presented well but the first taste of the broth was most unpleasant. We were all in agreeance regarding this and apart from the fish, none of us barely touched the broth. For dessert I had the Muse Affogato. Unfortunately it quite ordinary and quite forgettable. The waiter, however, was excellent and most attentive. Perhaps if I had chosen other dishes my opinion would have been different.
I had the duck breast, which was delicious - two of my three companions also declared their meals excellent. The fourth found his steak "just average", and rather meagre for a man with a healthy apetite.
One gripe - this restaurant does not warm its plates, which is a must in Canberrra in winter. My duck was served barely warm, so I sent it back to the kitchen after a mouthful to have it heated. The kitchen simply replaced my meal, which again was barely warm. This is what fine restaurants do, I suppose, but it doesn't really address the issue.
Aside from that, the service was most attentive and professional, and the wine list comprises some quite acceptable to exceptionally good wines, although priced a little on the high side for suburban Canberra.
Would definitely go back, despite the kalte Ente!
Interesting menu, delicious food, beautifully presented and attentive service
The food here is always fresh & delicious. Such good staff despite it being constantly busy. Love the combo with the bookshop
Wonderful food with good taste pairings. Lots of vegetarian options and the service was superb.
The third time in the last month, I'm loving Muse. The food is always amazing, and the staff are terrific.
I have been here several times, including for a couple of hosted wine producer events. It has a good vibe, interested staff and a menu that has something for everyone usually. I have noted that some of the listed wines aren't available ... which is a little annoying but there are always a number of appropriate alternatives.
Paul, Dan and co have the perfect setup for anyone who likes (loves) good food and good wine. I recommend Muse to everybody!
I love the entry through the books. The food is interesting and tasty. The staff are really nice and attentive. I also love attending the events in the book section. Breakfast, lunch or dinner - they're all great!
Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and beautiful wines. Always a great dining experience.
Muse is a great location, situated between Manuka and Kingston precincts. Great food, well presented, professional service
We are from Sydney and we’re staying in Kington so an easy choice but was well worth it. Good food and plants of choices. Lovely ambiance. A delightful evening.
Excellent dinner date restaurant. Great for lovers of food, wine and BOOKS , plus the cheeky cocktail.
A menu that makes you want to try one of everything and come back for more.
Great food, service, wine and ambience, doesn’t get much better,
