Mur Mur Tulum
Best chicken I’ve ever had
Nice ambiance and food!
Very cute place to eat. Food was ok, not a lot of options for vegans, and very small plates. The drinks were great though.
best food in tulum
Food was outstanding. We did everything family style so we could all have a little or everything. Our favorite was the whole smoked chicken, but everything was delicious. We were hungry and everything comes out a little at a time, helped us pace ourselves and not over eat. The banana dessert was another one of our favorites. We really wanted to try the pork, but they were out of pork (we arrived for dinner around 9pm). I would highly recommend Mur Mur for their delicious food and friendly wait staff. They burn incense to keep the bugs away, which I liked, but if you hate incense then it may bother you.
Beautiful food but bland. None of the food was salted.
Loved it! Went on a night it was not crowded and the service was great! Food was really good and reasonable.
Great creativity & food presentation, nice ambiance-chairs were a lil uncomfortable imo, service was decent not great. Really interesting and delicious menu. Would recommend if in Tulum.
After two nights in a row at party spots for dinner Mur Mur was a welcome oasis of mellow vibes where the food was the main focus. To those people claiming to be chefs who left awful reviews...Where were you a chef? The local penitentiary cafeteria? Did you even taste the food? Seriously, this food was the best culinary experience of my trip to Tulum and one of the top ten of my life. The flavors of the potato-chorizo appetizer danced across our palettes and served as the perfect warmup for our main courses. The pork belly was braised to perfection and finished with crisp, crackling skin. Layering the pork on the house made, fresh tortillas with swiss chard, confit jicama and the pickled shallots created a flavorful bite complete with complex texture. Our waitress Christina timed the service of our second entree, the catch of the day, perfectly (which was no surprise as her service was attentive and personalized). The catch of the day was Grouper and expertly described by the manager Armando. The fish flaked apart with the touch of the fork and melted in our mouths. The cocktails were light, refreshing and delicious. We even had a fantastic coffee cocktail that was recommended as a little pick me up. Mur Mur was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for high quality cuisine and excellent service.
Very nice experience, the manager and the waiters were incredible. Not many customers strangly
Unfortunately the front neighbors are very loud. But recommended
Absolutely loved Mur Mur! One of the best cocktails I’ve had in Tulum & amazing food. Our whole group loved their meals. Great ambiance, cool layout, the perfect Tulum vibe! 10/10 recommend
Second time here, unreal food and service!
Truly amazing! The food was so delicious and had may different flavors and texture. So rich! The service and the people who work there are thoughtful and friendly!
Mur Mur is one of the best restaurant that I have ever eaten at in the world. I’ve been to France, Itay, Germany, Canada, England, other places in Mexico and all over the USA cities. The food was exceptional. The staff was amazing and continued to be amazing even when we just stopped by to have a coffee after other experiences in Tulum at different restaurants. This place hands down was one of our most mind blow flavor experiences. A true must go!
The road to travel to this hidden gem will make you upset.. pls pack a snack and prepare for a 1.5-2 hr drive in a car. But don't give up the mind blowing experience and tasty goodness awaits you. Started at 330 with 2 small tacos and another starter that caused us to return at 6 for dinner. The quality of the food and flavors has been the best I've had in Tulum my entire 2 week trip. And that means alot because there's delectable food everywhere in Tulum. Service was super attentive. Explanations of every meal choice were music to my ears and palette. So reasonable for the high quality of food and service. And they take cards! Try a hand crafted cocktail and don't skip on the dessert option. We had the brownie (beautiful) missed taking a pic sorry. Chicken entree and Short Ribs were both superb!
Mur Mur is one of the best restaurants in Tulum. I highly recommend going for dinner here. It’s so much better that Hartwood yet not nearly as well known. All the dishes and drinks are so good. Get the plantain dessert, it’s unexpectedly amazing! Can’t wait to go back on our next trip.
The wait staff was extremely helpful and the manager was very involved in checking on our table. I wish there was a few more non-meat or fish items on the menu but what we did order was amazing. The cocktails were amazing. It was outside so bring some bugspray but you'll need that everywhere in Tulum. Give yourself more time than necessary if coming from town due to traffic on the road but worth the drive and it is a cute area to walk around after dinner.
Delicious local cuisine in beautiful surroundings
Very nice cocktails, but there aren’t many choices for starters. The pork belly was cooked so soft that the pork tastes like overcooked fish. The potato salad was good
We came here on our last night in Tulum and it was a great restaurant to end on! They serve all locally sourced food and focus on dishes inspired by the Yucutan, and the menu was clearly prepared with great care for the local food and culture. We had a pork dish and the fish of the day, which was in a delicious mole sauce. The potato-chorizo appetizer was amazing too! It’s a great relaxed patio atmosphere, not too fancy setting-wise but definitely high end food. There are small shops in the back of the restaurant that are fun to walk around as well! The waiters were all kind and checked on us a lot, even the manager came by to make sure we loved the food. Definitely recommend MurMur! (Leave early because of traffic and difficult parking but don’t let that discourage you. It’s also near a lot of shops so worth going before your reservation to just walk around this area!)
Terrible service and food ok
Poor service. They tried to make us pay for things We did not order and We had to wait for our food for a very long time. The meat, chicken and the pork were all dry.
We really liked this restaurant and would return again. The staff were very attentive, and it is always fun to be able to watch the chefs preparing food in the kitchen, especially in a place such as this, were it is prepared in a very small area. The atmosphere was fun - the restaurant and bar are partially open air; mirrors in the covered section make it feel open and airy. The restaurant is lit by candles and very low lighting, and well-placed plants and candles made it intimate and romantic and twinkle in the mirrors. The music was also low so that you could actually hold a conversation at your own table, but not your neighbors, which was really, really nice.
We tried their mescal-based cocktails - one with passion fruit and the other a Manhattan - both were tasty. We started with Amaranth Salad and Roasted Beets; both were delicious and large enough to share. The amaranth salad was particularly good - crunchy and flavorful. We had the catch of the day, grouper, and roasted lamb chops. Both were perfectly cooked and seasoned. For desert we tried their take on a "banana split" - a roasted plantain with cocoa nibs, caramel and sour cream. We would go back again and try some of their other dishes.
The only drawback for me was that the restaurant burns copal (a resin) as a natural mosquito repellent, and the smoke kept drifting right where we were seated, which made it particularly strong for me, and competed with the aroma of the food. If you like incense or strong scents, this will not be bothersome. However if you have allergies or asthma or are sensitive to strong perfumes, be prepared.
Very warm and welcoming staff, attentive to our dietary restrictions and allergies. The manager was able to talk us through the menu and our server was very knowledgeable and described drinks and dishes really well. The portions were great and the cocktails were tall and refreshing.
Wonderful experience and attention to detail.
Amazing experience and delicious local food!
Demasido espectacular la comida y el servicio ni se diga! Demasiado Top!! Full
Mur Mur came highly recommended by several friends who had previously been to Tulum - one of them a chef and Mur Mur did not disappoint! The food was delicious - must order pork tostadas to start! The service was excellent - genuine and warm without being overbearing. The overall experience was lovely and would recommend to anyone visiting Tulum
Love the food and presentation! The service was impeccable. I’ll be back
Firstly, service was superb. Friendly, knowledgeable, available, but not smothering. The food and flavor profiles aren’t as strong as they were at my last visit 2 years ago. At that time, I considered it one of the best meals anywhere, and definitely superior to Hartwood. So much so, I ate there two nights in a row. This visit, the flavors weren’t as interesting or complex. Pairings and flavor profiles seemed off. Example: a few fresh tomato halves served with the pulpo was unnecessary, and didn’t support the dish. It was still a good meal, but not what it once was. I hope Mur Mur finds again their magic for our next visit!
Great meal and service by a passionate team.
Everything was fantastic! Only downside was the mosquitos, but just wear bug spray bc the food was amazing and the restaurant is beautiful!
First off — wow! This is the place. My husband and I enjoyed our first meal in Tulum at this fantastic little spot. The ambience, the service — the food, those cocktails! Where to begin. I can not recommend this divine little date night destination enough. Easily our favorite meal in Mexico, Mur Mur is a delight, from start to finish. The lovely and attentive staff will seamlessly guide you through a brilliant menu, while you enjoy the very best of locally-sourced produce. Do yourself a favor, order the pork belly and finish the night with something decadent. Mur Mur does not disappoint!
While there was a slight hiccup with our reservation (for some reason they had us down for a party of 5 instead of 2...), we had a great experience. The ambiance is a bit more low-key than some of the flashier Tulum spots, but the service was fantastic. The ceviche, tomato salad and catch of the day were all incredible. Our cocktails were a bit on the side of too-sweet but we enjoyed them nonetheless.
Mur Mur is a Tulum gem! It's our favorite restaurant in Tulum. The design of the place is super cute. We loved the bar swing for a cocktail before sitting down for dinner. The dim lighting and the open wood fire kitchen makes the ambiance interesting and different. The scents and music roaming true the place are enjoyable. Most of all, the food was so delicious! The portions are just right not too big not too small, perfect for sharing. We strongly recommend to try the following dishes; the tomato salad, the short ribs and the chicken with brussel sprouts. The service was outstanding! Armando the manager tends to every little details and needs and he had great recommendations on which dish and wine to try. We loved it so much that we booked another reservation to dine for a second night at Mur Mur before we leave this magical place called Tulum! Mur Mur is a must try!
Walking into Mur Mur we were greeted by the manager who gave a little background about the restaurant. He was very kind as well as our server. The menu prices were expensive, as expected but a little overboard for what we were served. We knew that coming in and wanted to experience fine dining for one night as we were staying in Tulum. For 2 drinks, 1 shared appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert it totaled around $110 US dollars. The appetizer was amazing, pork salpicon tostada, entrees fish of the day (wild mackerel) and pork belly were good, and dessert fudge brownie with passion fruit was okay. With the entrees we were given tortilla shells and that completed our meal, without it I think it would’ve been just okay. I also would not recommend spicy Paloma drink if you’re wearing white, the drink is a mess with some type of shavings coming down the cup for presentation, and they do not offer straws which is okay but it is almost impossible to drink out of the cup as well as all the ice and fruit (please use bigger cups). Overall, amazing environment (no cell service at all) and beautiful presentation. Not a place to eat every night while staying at Tulum, but a good experience overall.
One of the best and inexpensive (for the quality) meals I’ve ever had. If you’re a foodie that enjoys experiencing local cuisine this place is for you!
We’ve been to quite a few restaurants like MurMur in different places around the world... nothing compared to the way my wife and I were treated, the atmosphere and the FOOD! We cancelled our dinner plans for our last night in Tulum and are going back for a 2nd time.
