Was good value with 50% off food - food tasty enough but nothing to write home about.
Following the tragic closure of Massala Hut, I've been looking for somewhere else to get my curry hit. There's one in Brick Lane - the Standard Balti - that I've used for years, but Mumbai Square could definitely give it a run for the money. It was dead quiet - we went at lunchtime - and service was tip-top, without being intrusive. In a nice but rare move, the pickles from the poppadoms were left on the table to add to the starts (we went for the mixed meat starter, which was uniformly excellent, and the mixed vegetarian one, which was slightly less so because the vegetable samosa was simply average.) My main was a Chicken Cobra Naga - wonderfully hot but tasty and delicately flavoured. My curry comrade went for Duck Achari - a bold choice, which for me didn't quite bring out the flavour of the duck. But he scoffed the lot, so I can't criticise. The various sides were absolutely outstanding - Brinjal Bhaji, Bindi Bhajli and Bombay Potato - and the two naans (one Keema, one Chilli) were also of the highest order. We got an 'all food 50% off' deal and this magnificent spread set us back about £20 each, plus a beer and a tip - which was well deserved. Overall I'd certainly return, and only rue the fact that it's a fair distance from where I actually live. Try it, you'll love it.
Living out of the UK as an ex pat, great to get a local Indian, however didn’t need anything fancy, just an Indian. Didn’t really listen to me once turned up, surprised I actually earns the points for the dinner. Family enjoyed their meal, waiter wasn’t even looking at us when placed order, portions were below a average.
Served a purpose for an impulsive Indian meal local to our accommodation
I put quiet as this was lunchtime and we were in early, so it is not a negative just the way it was then. I would recommend the speedy lunch menu, was sufficient for lunch and extremely good and tasty. Service was very good, provided recommendations when asked.
Would go again and recommend others to give it a try.
A good evening out with a good menu and attentive staff.
Average place. Have not seen my 1,000 pts yet
The service was excellent. The staff was attentive and provided helpful recommendations on the menu. Food was delicious!
Decor and washroom were somewhat dated.
Rude staff on the phone and took 3 people to even know who I was. Took a booking for 2pm but said they will shut at 3pm so felt rushed.
Amazing food and outstanding service. It was a birthday dinner and to my surprise when we asked for a bill the waiter brought a chocolate cake with candles. What a lovely gesture. I would definitely recommend it!
The food was delicious. I will definitely come here again and recommend it to everyone I know !
unfortunately i realised too late that i had been to this restaurant a few tears ago. The waiter had already locked onto me. So i thought , i will give it a second chance. Bad decision. It was no better.
The best u could say would be Second division at best. After a lot of beer where the food is not the main objective you will feel right at home.
Excellent food and very atentive service. We had mumbai special mixed starters followed by Chicken Cobra Naga and Butter Chicken. Specially the cobra naga was amazing. Highly recommended.
This used to be a really decent place. It isn’t any more. Staff lovely but the food was not up to it. Tasted off. Looks scruffy and neglected. The bathrooms were poorly maintained and the place has the atmosphere of somewhere that’s about to go bust.
Pleasant restaurant with good Indian dishes. Well located close to trendy Shoreditch.
Great food and availability on a Friday night, thanks.
Horrible food ..
A great curry in the City. Will return again soon
A friend recommended this place, so my husband and I went for a lunch. It's near Aldgate and Liverpool Street. I was surprised to see they have a full vegan menu option and great wine list. The waitress knew all the food ingredients, which made our life so easy as I'm not a huge fan of strongly spiced food. We will definitely be back!
