Mot Hai Ba Vietnamese Cuisine
The menu changes regularly and features seasonal dishes as well as Chef Peja Krstic's imaginative specials. Dinner Only. Cozy front room and a lovely patio. Cocktails and full bar.
Wonderful food. We got a lot of dishes and were not once disappointed, despite our high expectations.
I get the appeal of this place. You really feel like you stepped into a NYC restaurant. The food was great and the ambiance was great if you don't mind communal seating. The host is totally out to lunch- you get greeted by him telling you that you have less than 90 minutes to eat and leave. That should be something you are warned of when you make the reservation- I don't get a sitter for 4 hours to get kicked out of a restaurant in 90 minutes. We aren't lingerers but we also don't like to feel rushed- and God knows how long they are going to take to serve you- I've heard of 2 hour windows, but 90 minutes seems crazy especially considering our spots weren't ready when we got there, and we walked in right at our reservation time. It did take a bit for our server to get to us- he was very nice and attentive once he did.
Their alcohol selection is atrocious. They don't even have familiar premium liquors- do not expect a Woodford Reserve here- they have very basic like Bulleit and Makers. Their wine list is pretty lacking also. I had to drink beer, and I'm not a beer drinker. The food was good, but I've had better Vietnamese in Dallas with better alcohol and kindlier receptions. All in all, if you want a quick bite before a show, this is the place for you. But if you want a romantic evening with your spouse, not the place to spend your time/money.
Cozy spot in Lakewood. The food is very good every time. The chef is always there and ensures the quality of every dish. In fact, he often delivers the food personally. We tried three new items this time and every bite was delicious. Can’t wait to go back.
One of the best restaurants in the DFW complex! Delicious from start from to finish.
Second time here and my experience was a little bit different. Granted it was Valentine’s Day weekend but upon arrival we were told we only would have a table for 90 minutes. It happened to be our first time out of the house since having a baby so we weren’t trying to make a very long evening of it, but it was just an odd way to start the evening, particularly for a more expensive meal. That said all of our food was great and the service was good as well just felt a little awkward to have a time limit.
Amazing food and service! We have been wanting to try this place out for awhile now and what better opportunity than Valentines Day? We started out with the Sizzling Cake with tofu and the Roasted Beets which were both phenomenal then moved onto the main course - Baby Carrots for the SO and a Valentine's special Pork Chop dish for me - the Pork Chop seasoning was on point and the meat practically slid off the bone (definitely one of the best pork chops I ever had) and the Baby Carrots peanut streusel was divine. Our waiter (Quade) was very competent and attended to our every request with haste. The atmosphere was cozy chic with about 10 other couples dining so it was fairly calm/quite with various conversations going at each table. The prices were a bit high for the amount of food you get, but the quality more than makes up for it. Cannot wait to go back!
My husband and I have a weekly date night st Mot Hai Ba. The service and food is impeccable and we love the ambiance. Cozy and inviting. Food is always delicious.
The food was absolutely outstanding. The layering of flavors was phenomenal! We both oohed and aahed the whole meal. Well worth a visit!
Really outstanding, one of a kind food. No it's not authentic but it shouldn't be. The chef is amazing. The music was a fabulous curation. I have zero complaints other than the bathroom is very small (but hell, the whole place is very small so that's fine).
Great food and good vibe. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Tastes like Vietnam!
We’ll be back
Amazing food and service
The atmosphere was charming and fun. I enjoyed the communal tables. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. I was taken aback when we checked in for our reservation as the hostess told us we had the table from 7-8:30 pm and I joked what happens when our time is up- and she said the next diners will be sitting down. Hmmm.... Ironically, our main courses took 35 minutes to come to the table after the appetizer but luckily no one "kicked" us out from our table as we went over our allotted time limit. I have never had a restaurant say this before. But I was relieved it was not an issue. The food was delicious and creative and the dishes were well presented and very enjoyable.
Very interesting experience. Briefly, we heard great things but had no idea what to expect. Our waiter -- Kenny, I believe, was excellent --- patient and helpful. Cocktail was great, food was absolutely outstanding. But, I'm not sure I like the communal tables idea since you have no real privacy, and you have no choice at all about who you wind up having dinner with. SO. We sat at the bar -- nice but the bar stools are a bit close together, and more than a bit uncomfortable -- Hard, completely flat, and with no back. Stools at the tables seemed to have a little padding. So, do I recommend 1,2,3 -- yes. And, we will surely go back, but will now know what the venue is. Also, we saw more than a few people getting turned away lacking reservations. And, a heater would surely be nice in cool weather in the outside patio. I saw fans but no heater.
Charming ambiance and wonderful service, especially seated at the bar as we were. Kenneth was excellent at explaining drinks and menu items and helped us make choices we loved, including two inventive cocktails that were not on the menu. We shared two appetizers which were tasty but the standout was definitely the ox tail entree, super tender meat and chewy rice noodles in the most delicious sauce. Rounded it out with the lovely panna cotta for dessert. Definitely on the wish list for return visit!
I live very close but had never been. The food was amazing! All plates are very shareable if you want. I took a date and this is definitely a place to take someone if you want some brownie points! We got the Shaking Beef which was teriyaki glazed beef tips that were delicious and cooked perfectly. We also got Butternut squash on top of rice noodles with black truffles on top. This was also very good and a cool dish because I've never had truffles before. Desert was the Panna Cotta it wasn't too heavy at all so it ended the meal well. Over all this place is a super cool place and I can't wait to go back and try more!
We had such a good time. Food delish and will be back to try more of what’s on the menu!
Thank you for a wonderful evening. Great food, wine and atmosphere. Will definitely recommend to others
I absolutely LOVED this gem of a restaurant. Quaint community seating with food with incredible flavor. Highly recommend finishing the meal with their donuts!
Amazing food as always
Solid as usual. Always a good time with great food and great service. Make a reservation.
Great food and service. Setting is great and cozy as long as you're ok with potentially sitting right next to people you don't know. Blue crab salad is a must, and the wagyu Bao was wonderful. Chicken pho is aromatic and great on a cold night.
The food and ambiance were amazing! Our server was terrific attentive but not overwhelming. The chef visited our table a few times to deliver his creations. This was our second time and it was as delicious as the first!!
Very small, cozy restaurant. We went there for date night and to try a new place. Communal seating is something we are not used to but we enjoyed talking with couple next to us. The appetizers were very good (big eye tuna and Har Gow). The ox tail entree was savory but a bit underwhelming. The panna cotta was light and fresh and a nice finish. Overall, we were satisfied and will return to try some more of the delicious bites.
My Fav restaurant in all of Dallas!
This is so far the best Vietnamese restaurant that I have ever eaten from. The food is out of this world. The decor is humble and I appreciated that more than anything. Do yourself a favor and go!
Absolutely loved Mot Hai Ba. I will definitely go back.
If you are going for authentic Vietnamese, this is not the place. It is a fusion. It is very good. If you have never had Vietnamese, you will get an idea of what of a few types of plates, but not close to authentic.
This place was incredible! I can’t wait to go back. We had a fabulous waiter that gave us the best recommendations. Had the tuna appetizer and the blue crab salad with were both to die for. Such wonderful flavor combinations. The roasted carrot entree was so unique and flavorful. I can not wait to go back! Such an incredible find.
Met with friends and had absolutely amazing experience. Food was out of this world good. Definitely coming back very soon!!!
I had heard great reviews on this place so we finally went for my birthday. Food, service and ambiance were all excellent. It felt like stepping out of Dallas and into NYC as soon as we walked in the door. It’s small, with communal seating but we never chatted with the people next to us. Would highly recommend.
Birthday with friends. We continued to have an amazing experience every-time we walk in the door. The service is impeccable as the food. The choices in the menu have a variety of things to try and all of them are freshly made and goes beyond saying that there chef knows what he’s doing. The wait staff engages with you and knows you when you walk in. Our favorite.
Wonderful as always!!!!
Great service, food was pretty good, a little over-priced in my opinion for the serving sizes, especially as they are meant to share.
This was my first time and is one of my new favorite restaurants. I wouldn’t change a thing.
This is a must-eat restaurant in Dallas. The menu changes seasonally, but the best items are always there to devour. We always get the green papaya salad and the garlic noodles on every visit. The shaking beef and green curry chicken are solid staples if you can't make up your mind. The service staff is always top-notch and isn't afraid to recommend specific dishes. The cocktail menu changes often but is consistently solid with well thought out spirits.
Mot Hai Ba is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas.
The entire Mot Hai Ba team is fantastic. From Chris being one of the best waiters I’ve ever interacted with, to the brilliant team in the kitchen. We had a party of 7 they were able to accommodate and had fun every minute... definitely order the tuna tataki, the garlic noodles and the shaken beef. Those are an absolute must!
One of the best restaurants in Dallas. Every dish was better than the last. Can't wait to go back!
Always a stunning meal here at Mot Hai Ba!
10/ 10. The service and food here is absolutely amazing. This place is a hidden gem I would highly recommend to anyone. With that being said, keep in mind this is a smaller restaurant (currently)with a very intimate atmosphere.
