MORA Asian Kitchen - Oak Park
Come, join us for dinner or cocktails or both!
Great ambiance, nice energy, progressive menu, fresh food.
I live the creative dishes here. The service is the best, everyone is pleasant here. They accommodate various diet restrictions. Live this little gem in oak park
Amazing ambiance and food. Waiter made me feel a little rushed. Enjoyed the live music very much. Would definitely recommend
We Love it here!! Its such a cool place to have dinner and the Friday nite jazz is wonderful.
Everything was AMAZING and so fresh! I’m surprised the place wasn’t packed on a Thursday night. We tried a variety of everything, but my faves were the Brussel sprout salad and the fried rice - flavors were on point! Our server was just as AMAZING. Will definitely be returning soon!
I went for a late lunch and was pretty much the only one there so it was very quiet and relaxing. The atmosphere was inviting; I'd like to return in the evening when it's dark outside and there are more customers to see how it feels then. The Crunchy Brussels Sprout & Kale Salad was fabulous, as was my drink, iced Cherry Tree Green Tea. The Hamachi nigiri was just okay. My waitress, Liz, was super nice and very helpful. I'll be returning for another meal in the near future.
Everything that could go wrong went wrong - and the place was empty. We were given regular soy sauce instead of gf soy sauce for my daughter with celiac disease. We were given 4 salmon/avocado rolls instead of the tuna/avocado rolls we ordered. We ordered 4 mocktails for the kids but were given 5 and charged for the extra. My husband’s sake came out after the check at the end of the meal. I could go on and on. I emailed the restaurant the next morning and never received a reply.
I was underwhelmed by our experience. We arrived around 7pm and the place was dead on a Saturday night! I was surprised because the place looked really cool and the ambiance was great. The server was clearly new and struggled a bit during our meal when we had a couple questions but everything was still okay.
When we got the food this was the part that was incredibly underwhelming. The food looked really nice and was plated well but the flavors didn’t work together. Everyone in the party didn’t really enjoy the meal but kept eating because we had ordered it.
We were hoping to find a good sushi place in oak park but were disappointed by the experience here. Can’t say I would go back again.
The atmosphere was great! The restaurant itself is beautiful. I love the rustic feel.
We went to dinner early about 6:15 on a Wednesday. Wasn’t crowded at all.
The garlic fried rice is good but you really couldn’t taste the garlic.
The shrimp dish with the aioli was the best dish of the night. The sushi was fair nothing to write home about.
Wanted coffee with dessert after the meal. They didn’t have coffee so we skipped the dessert. Overall I wouldn’t go back. The service was OK, food ok and way too expensive.
I met a friend to try out Mora Asian Kitchen for dinner. I had driven by, but hadn't been inside. Dinner was fantastic! We had the adobe fried rice, green beans, sushi special of the day (crab, salmon, lemon deliciousness), and a fantastic yuzu cheesecake. All dishes were really fantastic - well seasoned and good sized portions for sharing. Our server was also very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We'll definitely be back!
Great food & lovely atmosphere!
Service was a little slow however the food was "amazing".
Enjoyed an early Sunday dinner at Mora with my niece. Loved our cocktails (Zodiac for her and Forbidden City for me) and Shanking Beef Salad for starters. The Orange Chicken skewers were tasty but just a tad overcooked and chewy. Our server, Liz, was great and her recommendations were right on point. The Samurai Roll that she suggested was outstanding.
We finished with a delightful strawberry and mango mochi.
Liz was attentive and very helpful with making menu selections.
Can't wait to go back to try more of their signature sushi rolls.
We sat at one of the two tables in the middle of the dining area that had backless stools; avoid those if possible, not comfortable after an hour of sitting and dining. Also really surprised at the “non-cash adjustment” - why not build that credit card service charge into the menu prices? Who really pays with cash at restaurants these days, especially at a restaurant with $15-20 average entrees?
The food was great, music played in the background was a great, and you can tell that the entire staff is giving their all. This is a great addition to Oak Park and adds something fresh and different!
Great food and presented nicely
Had a great time loved the food . I will be ack soon.
Went with friends and ordered lots of plates to share. Food was really good . Some dishes better than others. Service was good. Not a bargain but good quality. Beware of the slippery plastic chopsticks. You may want to ask for a fork at the beginning.
Very good Asian food, some unique dishes and drinks. Highly recommend.
Loved the look, food and friendly staff!
Awesome food choices, great atmosphere and service in this wonderful restaurant.
Chose Mora for my birthday dinner and was completely satisfied. Everybody enjoyed the food which is unique and delicious, also the atmosphere, cocktails and service were great. Love this place!
Pancit was fresh and delicious.
Delicious food, a spin on Filipino and Asian fusion cuisine. Great drink menu selection. Great service and ambiance.
The pancit and Korean chicken wings were terrific. MORA is a total gem. Oak Park is lucky to have it in its bustling Arts District.
Great food, great drink s(Heartbreaker and a margarita), snarky service (just the right level for our group) and all but one dish (salmon sushi - it was blah) were outstanding. Esp. Poke tower, platter of different fish (the special that night) tuna guacamole, and kale/Brussels sprouts salad.
I'm not sure I'd recommend MORA to a friend. It's expensive for small portions. The food isn't that innovative (although the I Love Liz dessert is a standout and ample). The service was great, as were the cocktails, and atmosphere is nice. But high prices for small portions of unexceptional dishes won't bring me back.
Food was very good. Drinks were good but not spectacular. Service was absent minded and spotty. It was Sunday night and pretty empty, so I expected better. Definitely would go back one more time on a prime night but won’t get a third chance if it doesn’t improve.
Food was delicious. I’ll definitely be back.
Went to Mora for my birthday and they were amazing! The atmosphere is both hip and inviting. The service is exceptionally personable and they can accommodate anyone-whether they are familiar with Tapas or not. We had a group of 9 people and we were able to be seated with ease and our server was wonderfully helpful to each of our guests. The food is outstanding. My favorite thing is to come as a group and keep ordering dishes to pass around the table. It is very social and communal and exceptional cuisine on top of that. Absolutely would go here again and again!
We had a wonderful birthday celebration for my daughter. The food was delicious. I recommend the Adobo Pork Belly, Pancit, Lumpia, Honey Shrimp, and Kale Salad. Interested in trying some of the sushi selections next time.
Delicious, absolutely. However, noise level from kitchen as well as guest areas was overwhelming.
Took 30 minutes to get our first drink. Food is very good, but service and noise level are not.
The food was decent, not outstanding, but expensive. Prices are higher on average than top places in Chicago or other major cities. Real problem was that after the meal was done and check was brought, the restaurant added a 3.9% surcharge to the total bill for using a credit card. Not only have I never seen this in any US or European restaurant, the credit card companies do not even charge that high of a percentage. To make it worse, this practice is not on a sign, not on the menu and I was never told. Didn't realize it until I got home. Apparently, although not mentioned, the menu prices are cash only prices and surcharge added later. Emailed the restaurant to discuss, no response. Called the Manager was put in his voicemail, left a detailed message, no response. Will not be back
We like to stop in once a month as we love the food, fresh and innovative.
Early reviews discouraged us from trying this long awaited addition to the Harrison Arts District. But I am so glad we gave it a try!. We sampled many items on the menu and not one of them disappointed. Everything was excellent. Portions reasonable and prices fair. Definitely will be back. BTW we were celebrating a birthday and received a complimentary plate of delicious mochi for dessert.
Small plates but not too tiny that we couldn't share among 3. Everything including the sushi and pancit noodles tasted amazing. Usually in an asian fusion type of restaurant such as Mora, only one type of Asian food is better than the rest. Mora did a great job using using just the right enough seasoning to provide a tastefully eclectic experience. We topped off our dinner with a sushi filled with fruit. The waitress informed us the fruit filled sushi rolls we're excellent for breakfast too in case we had leftovers.
The first thing you should know is that they charge a 3.9% fee if you pay with a credit card, claiming that the menu prices reflect the 'cash discount' which is, of course, garbage. It's 2019 and this is absurd. It left a very sour taste in my mouth.
Good food- we and our kids enjoyed everything. Sushi wasn't amazing, but like most places in the midwest they compensate with a lot of sauces. Solid, I would say. Not special. I would go back, but I can't say I am pumped about it.
The incessant Celine Dion playing (was this just a special treat for V-Day?) was obnoxious. We were seated at a table where the seats had no backs, which I think would be uncomfortable for many people.
My husband and I love this restaurant. Great variety of foods and taste amazing!
We live in the neighborhood and we loved it!!!!!
