Had a fantastic dinner at Monster. Tuna amazing, croquettes light fluffy flavourfull, shared both courses, mains steak and miso eggplant. Both dishes were very good, the bone butter the best, also had side fries with a great dipping sauce. Also shared a rhubarb crumble with a chai ice-cream which had the best buttery crumble and the pairing with chai was perfect. Service was very quick, wait staff professional, friendly without being over the top. Enjoyed our dinner here and would definitely recommend.
Limited menu of 3 choices and sides also limited to 3. Vegetarian option was expensive ++ but also salty and unpleasant in taste and texture.
Had previous (years ago) lovely meal here but I would not recommend anyone eat here anymore. Nice wait staff but was ultimately here for the food.
Excellent food and service. Another enjoyable meal at Monster Kitchen
Very efficient service. Great steak and chips and cooked to perfection
Well it all started out well until we looked at our menus and the wine that we had chosen was two different prices. $63 on my husbands menu and $70 on mine. They honoured the cheaper price. The entrees were outstanding but the mains let things down. There were only 5 to choose from and one was Barramundi which we were informed was not available that day so left us not much to choose from. The steak that was ordered was grissly and the miso eggplant had no flavour of Miso and was one piece of eggplant which was quite expensive. Lovely space to dine in though and staff were very friendly
We made this booking on-line as the degustation had been recommended by friends. We were disappointed to find that the restaurant was closed (although this was warned to us on confirmation of the booking) and we ate in the bar (near the external door) and all food was off the bar menu. The choice was limited and what we had was fine, but it was not the celebration we hoped for. The fries and the wine was excellent.
Very disappointed with our set menu and experience at Monster Kitchen and Bar. It was noted that it was our anniversary- no mention of that and very tired wait staff with zero knowledge or care factor when it came to delivering the paired wines. The noise level didn’t disappoint and only added to the pain of paying for a 12 hour slow cooked root vegetable which was hardly appetising let alone “fancy”.
The smoked aperitif and wagyu beef were the winners/saviours of the night.
We had a very good meal on Friday night. The food and wine selection had plenty of options to please everyone.
Got told to leave our table straight after the main. Had only been dining for an hour and 15. For the price of the restaurant you pay for the experience. Wasn’t satisfied
Really good food - crispy skin Barra was really fresh - you could taste the freshness - and eggplant wonderful texture. Good selection of wines by the glass. Chocolate dessert not overly rich so delicious!
Great food. Wonderful service, dropped a star because they forgot a round of drinks but not a big deal.
There was no evidence of my booking. Fortunately they had a table free but I was a little embarrassed - my guest was also a staying at the hotel - and the service was uneven. The food is, as always, very good but I do think for the price Monster should have better staff training and sort out its bookings.
Wonderful dinner, fantastic service and amazing ambiance. My only criticism was the hot chips as part of the tasting menu. It was out of place on a $90 menu.
we loved the place! The food was amazing, the atmosphere great
The food and wines were brilliant, the service was pretty terrible.
We didnt get everything we ordered and then they tried to charge us for it and they didnt seem to have any idea of what was going on. A real shame because it's a beautiful space.
I thought the attention to detail for food and service was excellent. The set winter menu was great. Wines were regional and fantastic.
The music was a bit too loud for my liking and table lighting would have been helpful. There's a fine line between buzzing and not being able to conduct a conversation.
We loved Monster! Great food, ambience and service.
The meals were delicious, great spot, service was great
We were staying at Ovolo Nishi, and had a late booking. While the surroundings are very attractive, the overall experience was underwhelming. Our table was poorly positioned; the glass of wine, a Lark Hill Riesling was warm and had a slight vinegar taste, as if a bottle was left open on the bench, overnight; the miso eggplant was overcooked and the panko chicken was little more than an expensive sandwich.
We were very disappointed.
Amazing, one of the best meals we've ever had! Would highly recommend.
Is a great place to celebrate or have a relaxing meal
Didn’t get to make it to the food..... we left as we had to wait 25min just for the waiter to come to the table. terrible service will definitely not go back.
Sexy venue, great food and wine.
Love this venue, spacious, quiet, excellent food & service
Beautiful restaurant with great decor and amazing food!
What a funky location and great food. Slight Japanese infusion to many of the food options. We also really enjoyed the wines that were on a very small wine list.
Despite our confirmed reservation they didn’t have a table for us as they had taken other diners in. They sent us to the bar for a drink. The wine list is outrageously overpriced.
The waiter didn’t know what the specials were and when asked how the fish was cooked ie fried grilled etc he said “we’ll find of course”.
Very very limited menu.
Pasta was ok
Beautiful setting. Spent too much on decor and not enough on menu and staff training.
Service was amazing, food delicious and great value for money
I love celebrating special occasions at the Monster and it is kid friendly too which is always a bonus.
We loved our dinner! Service was great and atmosphere was lovely!
I like dinning out but do not like post activity surveys.
Very busy & noisy atmosphere, very good quality food but as we were a table of eight we had to eat in two sittings as the kitchen could not handle 8 of us ordering a la carte. best to go early or late for dinner.
We booked and arrived for 1045am to be told that breakfast finishes at 1030am and the kitchen was closed. The menu and booking confirmation states 12pm.
If the kitchen was going to close early, we should have been notified not when we arrived and had paid for parking.
We were most looking forward to coming esp as we were from out of town.
We will not be coming again.
It took 35 minutes to have our order taken after receiving our menus. Then we didn't receive any drinks until I asked after we were given our entrees. The food was not amazing for the price.
Staff were super knowledgeable and great loved the food and atmosphere too
The 8 course set menu was great. An excellent combination of seafood, vegetarian and meat dishes. They were able to easily switch a couple of dishes due to dietary requirements. We were all very satisfied (full)!
The wine service was poor. We got given a menu but then no one came to take an order for quite a long time. After asking to order and getting a nice Chardonnay (it’s a very good wine list by the way) we were not served for drink again, despite empty glasses. I asked if we could buy another bottle, it was served and then no one visited again to top up glasses. I had to go to a side table to grab the bottle and top up our glasses.
Another annoying aspect of the night was that they were setting up the restaurant space for hotel buffet breakfasts while we were still dining nearby! This certainly made the evening feel a bit “unspecial”.
Great dining experience with friends.
Definitely coming back!!!
We love Monster for the amazing variety of great dishes on offer and, just like Ovo Nishi itself, the dishes are often a little different and quirky - but always prepared to perfection. This time round we went for the degustation with matched wines - fantastic food and great value!
Great room with interesting decor and outlook. Service was pleasant and food most enjoyable for brunch.
The food was delicious with a great range of veggo options (a rarity in a restaurant which also prides itself on the meat dishes). The service was attentive and helpful. The food was beautifully presented and interesting with wonderful flavour combinations.
