Monster Kitchen & Bar Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious with interesting ingredients and good presentation. The wines while very drinkable were outrageously overpriced. The waiting staff were efficient and friendly. I would be happy to recommend to friends and family but warn them about the cost.
Thank you to the servers and back of house members my wife is a vegetarian and we don't always get many choices for her. Your menu is outstanding in that regard and she was so pleased that she had some really great choices the food itself was awesome as always you guys really know your craft kudos to the chef ! The wine list is also great with lots of homage paid to local winemakers so fine wine all the way ! I can't be too effusive about the service which was top notch very attentive.
This is our second time to monster. We found the ambiance delightful as we were able to talk to our friends and be heard. Service was quick but unobtrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious. Monster has small and large plates to share which gave us a wide taste across the menu. We would definitely go again.
Monster was a perfect setting for a long lunch between friends. The food was outstanding, the cocktails were so interesting and the service provided by the team made our dining experience a relaxed and comfortable one. I would definitely recommend Monster.
Whilst it is an interesting venue and the food was interesting, the service was so bad that I cannot possibly recommend the venue or return. It took nearly 30 minutes to receive the drinks we ordered on arrival (and 20 mins for the water we ordered). One waitress was downright rude when we followed up. Real disappointment that an otherwise interesting restaurant can be so let down by the service.
Ok, so it's Canberra, expectations low. Food was ok but not brilliant, definitely didn't match the hype, some dishes a little too salty, others somewhat bland. Service was the real let down. You know when it's getting toward the end of the meal but you feel like another drink but you can't catch the eye of your waiter, like they are hovering but their full attention is to the coffee machine or the cutlery tray on the side board and eventually you have to crash tackle someone to get service
It always amazes me the wait staff who just remember your order and don't get anything wrong. I booked a few weeks in advance and managed to get a table it the cute elegant area which is more intimate than the bar area, although both being great in their own ways.
The food and drinks were delicious. We had an assortment of food from the share plates and bar menus, as well as cocktail and deserts. This restaurant isn't for the quick eat, u are meant to be there for a few hoursvti enjoy!
We knew of Monster because our granddaughter was doing work experience there. It wasn't the type of restaurant which we would normally frequent, but we were most pleasantly surprised with the range of options.
The kitchen staff are creative and use fresh produce to turn out delicious meals.
The variety of dishes was exceptional and we liked the shared plate option.
There are plenty of quirky and interesting artefacts to enjoy.
No regrets on celebrating our wedding anniversary at Monster.
Fantastic flavours and presentation of dishes. Two of us shared a couple of dishes from the Bar Menu then a couple of Shared Plates and Finished with a shared dessert.
We were impressed with the balance of flavours & textures in the Boxgum grazing beef and quail. The eggplant dish also delighted, but the pippes were less exciting.
Two disappointments: we had to wait through our 1st course for our selected local sparkling to chill; & fresh plates weren't offered between highly flavoured courses
It was a pleasant and enjoyable dinner experience for the four of us. All dishes were interesting and tasty. We had several from the 'bar menu'as well as the 'Share plates menu'. The waiter was top class and very helpful in deciding on how best to take advantage of the monster way.
Lovely vibrant, modern restaurant serving innovative modern cuisine with a local feel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Service very prompt. Nice main bar area to sit and have a drink or cocktail in afterwards too. We will definitely recommend this one to our friends.
This was a really pleasant surprise. Having read the reviews (which prompted me to book) my expectations were pretty high. I can't fault the food, dining room or staff. My wife and I booked for our anniversary and the staff consistently acknowledged our milestone. The food offered was stunning with some amazing taste combinations. Loved the small and large plates to share and I'm struggling to pick a stand-out. However, the beef tartare and lamb shoulder stick in my mind. I would def recommend.
Frankly we expected a different experience, as Monster was rated as #1 in Canberra. But the dinner menu (and we had booked a table in the restaurant) was exactly the same as the choice by simply turning up unbooked at the exterior space, at which we had lunch.
