The food and service was fantastic. The staff were friendly. Conducive to have a business lunch or more casual dining. Wonderful experience.
Great place to go and the food is sensational and every reasonably priced, would dine there again.
We came for brunch and stayed for dinner. Excellent, innovative menu that encourages us to return for another sampling.
Great, friendly space to enjoy shared plates with friends or family.
We had a great time at monster for dinner. The food is outstanding and the service is great too. Will definitely be back
I love Monster Bar, great ambience, good place to meet friends. Unfortunately this one was so-so: no one at the 'wait to be seated' station when we arrived, waiting, waiting - approached a bar man who was very helpful and showed us to our reserved table, he also stated what cakes were available. When wait staff took our order 10 minutes later, there were no cakes left - odd. My coffee was superb - yay :) but my friends tea took ages to arrive, I had almost finished my coffee. Doesn't matter, I will be back!
We sent the house cut chips back they where cold and a couple of days old.
The food had a great mix of cuisines and was superbly done.
We shared our dishes so we got to taste a variety of dishes.
The wine selection was great and i tried one from canberra.
We had a pimms cocktail to start and it was very refreshing.
A very enjoyable evening.
Thankyou very much.
Food is amazing wine list also amazing great vide would recommend to others .The only thing i found that night seemed to be under staffed that night and service a little slow but would come back.
We loved our experience, the food was amazing best meal we have eaten in a long time. Great drinks selection, atmosphere delightful. Will travel again and just to eat there again!
We have had many enjoyable evenings at Hotel Hotel, thus we chose it again for our anniversary. We looked forward to a glass of local champagne - used to be Gallagher's while looking at the quintessential Canberra sunset over the lake. Unfortunately the only champagne by the glass, on offer was a French champagne at $30 a glass, we thought this offer very unAustralian and a thumbs down to our local wine producers. We drank water and waited for our meal and Prosecco, yearning for some baguette or nibblies while we waited - as we have lived in France. The sun had set by the time we got to sit beside the fire, so we missed the sunset. The Prosecco purchased was not inspiring. The food was a great flavour, but our three dishes left us a little hungry. We were planning to take some inter-state friends to Hotel Hotel in June to showcase Canberra, but have now decided against it.
Ambience was different and interesting...love the spacious rooms
Attentive service and delicious food in lovely surroundings.
A great meal. Our needs (contrary to advice on menu) to share starters and have individual mains was cheerfully catered for. I know it's an energy saving policy but we were a bit too cool.
The waitress was over worked! Measures need to be in place so they can be attentive to their tables. When I have to waive down the busboy to facilitate another wine or more bread, there is an issue.
The eggplant dish was very tart and we couldn't finish it. The dessert was pretty yummy though
Was a bit disappointing as it cost a lot too
Loved the evening at Monster Kitchen
Great food, impeccable service... good attention to detail with our order and a relaxed evening with friends and the kids..
In spite of being a find dining restaurant, it’s easy to bring kids to this restaurant
Really enjoyed it
The ambience and food was nice however unfortunately the service let you down. We ordered 2 glasses of champagne and one was poured normally and the other was way under the standard glass. We mentioned this to the waiter and he apolised and happily refilled however would not expect this at a restaurant like this. When we went to pay for the bill we paid cash and it was taken away in a flimsy cardboard card rather than a proper leather bill case. The waiter came back minutes later and said we short changed him by $50. We doubted ourselves and retraced what we each contributed to the bill. We eventually asked him to retrace his own steps and we found the $50 cash lying on the floor under the table next to us. Again, this was a little disappointing overall.
Every time I dine here I find a new gem on the menu. The food, wine, service and ambiance are all outstanding. My dining companions also loved it.
Really enjoyed the food and the service. The wine list looked good but the wines were a bit expensive.
Have already recommended it to friends and expect that we will return.
Food was lovely and our waitress was so friendly and helpful. Would like to visit again
The food was excellent - very tasty with a wide variety of flavours and textures. The service was great. The table design was interesting, but worked well no matter how many or how few people were in the group. Well worth recommenfing to others.
Fabulous and inventive food. Knowledgeable staff and very service (for Canberra). Great wine/drinks list.Worth the price
Not our first visit and won’t be our last the service as always was outstanding the food to die for and the wine list was awesome ! I recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family
Thank you Sean McConnell and team of professional, efficient and knowledgeable staff.
We had a wonderful experience at Monster Kitchen & Bar, our dinner consisted of fresh and delicious morsels of food. We chose to have the chef's selection and we were not dissappointed, it was amazing :-) :-) :-)
Loved the choices on the menu and found the waiter most helpful. We didn’t over order. Food was delicious.
The food is delicious and the restaurant has a nice ambience. The service is also very good. My Mum has allergies and before our arrival the chef highlighted, which dishes would be problematic.
Outstanding inventive food. Love the sharing plates approach that allows diners to sample the breadth of the menu.
proper delicious food, though nothing truly outstanding; fantastic design; inattentive service; great sommelier's advise for the wine I loved.
been there also for lunch and breakfast - the above seems to be consistent disregarding of the shift etc.
bar stopped serving cocktails at around 10 pm, with which they also ran out of people who would know what spirits they've got at the bar at all, the bar itself closed at midnight. so early. oh well.
if not the interior design - it wouldn't be worth the money, but with this beauty around it's tolerable.
Snapper was over cooked. Beef tartare was amazing. Ordered a wagyu tongue sandwich just to try, ordered even more because it was fantastic. 10/10 whoever to made that sandwich
Food and surrounds were fabulous but service was erratic. Friendly enough to start with, offer of drinks and explanation of the specials but once our order was taken we were totally forgotten and left alone with our empty, dirty dishes for over half an hour. We had to ask for the dessert menu and for our plates to be cleared. We then had a different waitress who was possibly a manager and she was fabulous and saved our evening. It was quiet for a Saturday night and half the restaurant was empty, probably due to it being Easter Saturday so I don’t understand why we had such slack service for most of the night. Willing to give it another go next time we’re in Canberra.
Amazing all round .... every dish was special, innovative but light and well balanced. The desserts were perhaps the highlight .... and the ambience of course!
Belated anniversary dinner. We were seated at a lovely table near the fireplace. Food and wine was great. Service was non-existent - lovely staff just seemed to be lacking experience and attentiveness. Not good enough when you are paying good money to dine at Monster.
Nice dining experience. Host was professional and attentive. Very lovely and well trained. Food was deliscious. Drinks were average in my opinion otherwise would have rated higher
Food was delicious. A special mention to our waitress and kitchen staff who went above and beyond to make our dishes gluten free/FODMAP friendly. The lamb and green tea dessert definitely stand outs.
We ordered dinner before 6pm on a Monday evening and were pretty much the first table to order dinner. After ordering several vegetarian plates and a lamb dish, and confirming with the waitress that one of us was vegetarian, we were promptly served drinks and the vegetarian plates. Long after we had finished the drinks and vegies we were still waiting for the lamb. Despite there being many staff walking around they were studiusly ignoring the customers and no one displayed any interest in us, even to offer drinks or clear dishes. We eventually gave up and went to the bar to pay the bill. We weren't offered anything more than a 'Oh, you didn't get the lamb? Sorry'. Who knows, maybe it is a regular occurance. Would not want to see the place busy. This was our first visit to Monster Bar and will definitely be our last. The food that came was OK but small plates and overpriced. Beers were very expensive. Best part was the online booking.
Always amazing food and friendly service. I love the local sourced wine and the menu has something for all tastes. The chef selection did not disappoint. Always a good place to go. Share plates are the way to go. Kingfish was a stand out dish!
the first waiter who brought our wine dumped the bottle of white on the table and didn't give anyone a taste or pour it out and just walked off without a word, we poured 6 glasses ourselves. We then had a bottle of red and a different waiter gave proper service. We then had gins which were very nice. The food was very good.
Relaxed environment with an interesting menu. Great friendly service.
Combination of respectful and knowledgeable service, great ambience, wonderful presentation and delicious food, all in a vert inviting and unusual setting.
