Monica's Eatery - New Plymouth
Perfect setting for a business lunch - Tessa provides an outstanding client experience. Thank you.
Great food and atmosphere. Was super busy so took a little longer to get menus and water to our table, but totally understandable.
Great location, attentive staff, great food. Parking straightforward close to the eatery.
Our food definitely hit the spot! Service was pretty good too
Monica's was the only restaurant which featured on multiple lists received from friends we were were asking about New Plymouth restaurants so it was a no brainer. It definitely didn't disappoint, with great food, natural wine, and wonderful friendly service. The girl looking after us was happy to share some great local knowledge and late night wine spots on our departure which was lovely also. Would def recommend and return the next time we're in NP.
Delicious food as usual. Only thing missing was something sweet on menu (breakfast)
Reservation for 9.39am breakfast. Order lost so didn’t have food in front of us until 11am! Drinks were then free but by then I wish I’d changed my order to something larger as I was very hungry. No ‘one’ staff member seemed to be in charge of our table. No refill of water at all. Difficult to hear conversations due to acoustics.
Sorry but after the ease of making a reservation on line and showing off New Plymouth to a friend of mine from Christchurch was very disappointed.
Great quality food in a nice open space. Menu has it’s of healthy options
A catch up with a friend during the lunch hour. A friendly greeting and taken to our table straight away. Prompt service and the meals were delicious. A nice lunch experience.
Service attentive with a smile. Food was wonderful, all dishes were liked, decent size portions. Ambience was modern with various types of seating, highly recommend restaurant.
Booked in for dinner before seeing a show. The food was fantastic. We all enjoyed our meals. Will definitely be back again! Thanks.
Food was delicious and service was good however the entree options were a bit limited but what we did order was yum 😊
Great cocktails 🍸
Monica's Eatery is a lovely little café, not too busy when we were there (10-11.30am) on a weekday.
Staff were very attentive and friendly. The heaters were on which was nice on a cold wet morning. Our coffees were perfect- both my friends like them extra hot and are not afraid to send them back if not hot enough...neither drink went back, and they both remarked that their drinks were just right - well done! We didn't have anything to eat this time around, but the menu looked appealing and there was a small array of slices.
Beautiful surrounds and amazing food, a great place to take a friend for a brunch date.
The food was a little expensive but the service and surroundings were excellent.
Food order incorrect, coffee order incorrect..while they did rectify it did impact on my rating. Last time I came there were no eggs on my breakfast plate and was hoping this time would be better.
Nice decor. Ave overall!!
Wow from the time we walked in the main lady in charge such a nice smile we new we were in the right place.
The food that we received was excellent. However, our first two choices were unavailable. The kitchen also got the timing wrong and one meal arrived 10 minutes after the first. Service, otherwise was very good.
the food was nice but i believe it was way overpriced
Good food. Service could be better. One of the staff definitely needs better training.
The only improvement needed is the coffee. We all found the coffee bitter which was a shame as the meal was great.
Lovely setting for lunch wine was nice and cold food was delicious served nice and quick when your pushed for time , waitress was very helpful definitely be back
Great place for dinner with family including children who loved the Macaroni Cheese. Our meals were all great and dessert was yummy. Would highly recommend and dine there again.
Great food that was perfect on the plate. Neither the salt or pepper shaker were bothered throughout the meal. The service was at attentive friendly and very efficient. So for our first time eating dinner here we left knowing we would return to try more of the menu.
Open and airy restaurant, though the bench seats do not allow you to lean back as the backrest is common to the next table. Food good and service excellent
Our platter was disappointing and poor value when compared to platters we have eaten at other restaurants in the city.Very minimal choice of proteins were on it and the hummus looked like it had been exposed for longer than is should have been. The only bread was pita in narrow portions and too much of that.
Our waitresses were pleasant .
Beautiful fit out but the food and drink doesn’t live up to the setting or the prices. Service efficient but not particularly friendly. Needs a chef with some passion!
Loved it! Excellent eatery, would highly recommend. Booking was easy too.
I found the dinner menu to be uninspiring, which made it quite hard to choose anything. Sadly I chose poorly and ended up with a pasta dish that tasted exactly like a maggi's beef hot pot i make at home. Nice ambiance but the seated tables are very close together, making it a bit awkward for comfortable dining. Otherwise quite pleasant, would maybe go back for casual desert or coffee.
The staff were impecable. My friend and I chatted for quite a while and we did not feel pressured to move on. Instead a pleasant young man filled our water glass and left us to chatt some more. Lovely
Attractive decor, comfortable seating, spacious and good lighting. Pasta was light and tasty and vegetable side dish done well. Wine, beer, cocktail list had distinctive flair. Desserts were delicious and nice to know they use local gelato and coffee roasters.
Found the waiter over friendly and food very disappointing especially the dish I ordered - the most tasteless meal I had eaten in a restaurant in years !!!BUT the saving grace of this establishment was the cashier taking off the cocktail from our bill . 10 out of 10 for listening to their customers.
Found the meals lacked flavour or flair, the chicken read well on the menu but the actual taste did not match the description, the sirloin steak was just okay. The beef croquettes tasted more of potato than beef. Overall disappointing evening meal as we have had great lunch meals at Monica's.
Love this place... Love the atmosphere and range of menu options. Staff are professional yet friendly
Five of us gathered at Monica’s for a lunch before my sister had her baby. We loved the atmosphere and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food was presented beautifully, good portion sizes (not too large, just right) and we all commented how the menu was a bit of a treat as it’s not food you would cook at home. Two of us had the lentils and although very nice we felt it would benefit from a wedge of lime on the side - was needing a citrus kick, or something to lift the blandness of the dish.
Overall though it was a lovely lunch and we would recommend to everyone.
I found the food very underwheming and overpriced. The duck fat roasted potatoes tasted old, as if they had been cooked days before. The lentil dish was so basic I'd even be embarrassed to serve it at home. This is the third time I've had a completely disappointing dinner at Monicas, a shame really as I love the fit out and that is why I have kept going back.
The service was excellent, we didn't have to wait long for the food to be served, portion sizes were great. I thought the price was normal for the meal however I was surprised at the cost of a glass of house wine. I've never paid that much before.
Great food and service. We dined before a show and dinner added to a fantastic night
Sirloin steak was cooked to perfection, ne and my partner both really enjoyed it! Staff were polite and food was brought out quickly
Came to New Plymouth for a friends 50th and we all wanted to go to Monica’s for lunch. Once again fantastic food, could have ordered many things off the menu! Good wine list too.
Thanks very much.
