Experience was amazing, staff were extremely friendly and very helpful during our first time at Mjolner. Would definitely recommend getting a bunch of mates or family and giving it a shot
Fantastic service and food was amazing, the vibe of the place was on point as well
Great meal, great service, will be back!!
Great food, love the experience and great friendly service
A hidden gem within the CBD. I've walked past this restaurant so many times before but did not realise that it was located just opposite White Mojo. The lowlight ambience and interesting viking-inspired interior gives this place a cosy yet romantic setting that you can enjoy with your loved ones.
We had the degustation menu and did not regret our choice. The food is outstanding and so are the portion sizes for sharing. It was our first time trying Scandinavian food and I'm very sure it will not be the last!
Excellent venue! Always enjoy coming here. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff and the food and drinks are amazing!
I absolutely love this restaurant, the food they cook is unbelievably tasty :)
Great atmosphere, great food. Definitely recommend this for a dining experience that is more about just the food.
One of my favourite places in Melbourne. Highly recommended.
It was incredible service and food. Not too chintzy. Only downside was where the table was situated. Great wait staff, best dinner out I’ve had in a long time. Thankyou!
Sooooo Melbourne ❤️
Theme was ok. The meats on the menu very good. Drinks a bit on pricey side. Good ambience. The mead shots and selection of carving knives were a nice touch. Might be nice to have live Viking music if/when covid allowed.
If you’re looking for a Viking feast experience look no further!
From the quality food to the ambience and relevant time music and to the weaponry you feast your food you won’t be disappointed.
The mead an iconic and well added touch to a splendid night.
Other than the pricey food it can only be justified by the level and quality once you are rolling out the door.
Noel and Kim serve and cater with expertise and energy making you feel you are royalty coming in the creaking door to Valhalla awaiting a feast fit for a Viking.
Highly recommended for the experience and taste,
Thank you to the crew for a great Birthday feast.
From the minute we walked through the large wooden doors we felt we'd stepped into somewhere special. We had a small dining area to ourselves and the decor and atmosphere was on point. The staff were great, guiding us through the menu and even though they were extremely busy we were never left waiting for too long.
I loved the unique touches like the option of having the mead beer from a horn and the main meal coming with a choice of knife that you choose from a large leather knife role.
At the end of the meal I was pleasantly surprised when the staff presented us with a lovely card congratulating us on our anniversary.
I couldn't fault anything about our visit
It was a surprise treatment for my Husband. We loved it. we have 2 teenage girls who came along, and the service for them was fantastic. However definitely not for children.
We love the atmosphere and the knowledge from the staff about whiskey - great education for us. A must for those who love great food and drink from Odin's Hall SKAL!
Simply incredible! The drinks were authentic and the meals were to fall on your sword for!
We had Mara serve us throughout the night and she was an absolute delight. Mara was very informative when we asked her about Mead and gave us a great recommendation for someone who has never tried Mead before.
We had the chef's selection on the night and can not find a fault with the food. Everything was incredibly unique and delicious. For 4 people our chefs selection included 3 starters, 3 mains, 2 sides and dessert which in our opinion is worth the price point and did not leave us feeling hungry after our dining experience.
The atmosphere and diners did have a fine dining atmosphere and for the friends I was with we might have been a touch loud since we were having so much fun. It didn't seem like we were bothering anyone around us. The dim lights and decor of Mjolner definitely gives it an intimate vibe, which may be more suitable for small groups or couples. I did see a larger group of people dining at Mjolner and don't see any problems with customer service providing for a larger group.
Overall would go again and especially for the Short Ribs.
Absolutely incredible experience.
Staff were on point !
Makes you want to dive more into the Viking lifestyle.
A great place for a special-occasion dinner. Great atmosphere, eclectic but delicious food and cocktails. Highly recommend.
What a massive disappointment. We were made to feel unwelcome right from the start. The waitress was pushy and not helpful. She failed to properly explain some of the dishes which led to confusion when the bill arrived. It was difficult to get drinks and even when they took orders they didn't come out. We were refused the opportunity to order extra desserts despite having adequate time and no one else queuing for our table. The food was good, but not enough. Three beef ribs between 9 people just doesn't work, especially when paying $90 per head. Massive rip off.
After a long year I was hoping my staff could have a delightful night, given the menu and cocktails on offer, instead it was the complete opposite. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Just felt too rush. Couldn't even get to desert.
Honestly my favourite place in Melbourne, the ambiance of traditional pagan music like Warduna and Heilung made the experience outstanding. Amazing service and excellent food
A full experience. Wonderful staff, amazing food.
I love that it was a short menu but done perfectly. Everything was delicious. I’m definitely returning and recommending the place to friends and family.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and I haven’t seen him more excited. The service was fantastic and the food was incredible. I would definitely go here again to try more of the food and for the experience
Service great food was delicious just a little bit pricey but it was great
Great atmosphere and love the Viking theme. Get yourself a pair of horn shot glasses if you can. Overall food was good, fish was a bit over cooked and veg was very salty but the steak was very good. Definitely worth experiencing.
Everything was amazing. The mead both tap and fortified were great.
Had a fantastic time and would recommend to anyone
Loved the place and the food
Kind regards marc
Great experience, service was great and drinks aswell. Food could be a little better, chicken and fish was average but ribs were amazing, definitely recommend and will be back!
Great staff and food. It was an amazing night thank you
Food was fantastic, Great beers on tap and over 300 whiskies on their list what's not to love helpful accommodating staff looking forward to going back for more
Great place highly recommended will be looking forward to making my next booking
Such an amazing experience and amazing place for a date night or anniversary
We got the set menu which was $90 pp due to having a large group. Normally feel stuffed by the end of a set menu anywhere we go however after finishing the meal at Mjolner we were still hungry. We had to go get McDonald's when we left. Also despite paying almost $150 a head, they charged us a $50 no show fee for because one of our diners had to go hospital on the morning of the booking and didn't leave until days later. Poor form.
Absolutely insane menu and vibe. Nothing but flawless service from the team as well. The service team have great knowledge of the menu and drinks to compliment dishes.
It was a different experience.
Loved the Viking feeling we get in the restaurant
Great night just enough background noise but we could have one conversation with 6. The service and food were exceptional and great fun. Will definitely go again.
Awesome food and vibe (bone marrow shots!), fantastic staff and service. I feel they really went the extra mile. Food and drinks are pricey, but not unreasonable at all. Will be returning for sure!
If you want somewhere to have cocktails and drink beer with ambiance this appears to be the place to go. There was limited wait staff to cover the copious drinks being consumed by other tables meaning we were forgotten about... also increased the noise in the venue.
On entry I had high expectations, the venue was set up well. But we had to wait over an hour for our order to be taken. The appetisers were good quality, the salmon was divine. The cocktails were excellent. The mains are where everything fell apart. It classed itself as viking and meat centric so I redirected it to be high quality, especially considering the prices. But the sides were strange combinations of flavours nearing on inedible. I had a steak which was supposed to be medium rare, but was rare to blu with a line of thick fat through the middle. The lamb ribs my partner had were sold as high quality and large... what they didn't tell us was it would be 3/4 uncooked fat with what little meat there was cooked rare. I mentioned this to the wait staff and was told it was because it was a young lamb... ridiculous...$90 spent to buy uncooked fat...
If you are looking for a drinks venue this is a good place, if you want fine dining or good quality meat there are many better and cheaper options in Melbourne.
