Experience and staff service was good food was very average and poor for the price of it
From the second we walked into the moment we walked out was spectacular. If I could rate Mjolner 20/10 I would. The services was amazing and the food was out of this world, I'm still dreaming about it. My partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and as we were leaving the staff gave us a hand written card and 2 of their signature shot glasses. I have never received such amazing services before.
The whole experience was absolutely amazing. It was definitely an unforgettable night!
Beautiful. Need a better beer selection though. Pretty good value for the feast
Great food, great theme and a great time had by all.
Brilliant place it was recommended and will be again.
I have to come back and take the other half next time.
From front door to table to restrooms, the whole experience cultivates a sense of atmosphere with just the right amount of kitsch. (Think food daggers and drinking horns.) Lovely attention to the discussion surrounding food and drink. Beautiful presentation of tasty meals with complex flavour combinations. Multiple vegetarian options. An expansive whiskey list and a cocktail menu with character. Overall, a delightful night. We made a reservation for the early evening, which may not have been necessary. By the time we left in the late evening, the dining room was pretty full.
Enjoyed the night the food was great and the staff were friendly and informative. The atmosphere was great.I thought the table we had was a bit small for four people and the wine was over priced but I would come back it’s about the food and the food was great.
We were there is December and the food was perfectly delicious! Now in May, the food was terrible. I hope the chef was absent on this day. Won’t be back sadly
Absolutely amazing place. Only downfall was the fact I had a crap date 😂
Fantastic food, fantastic service definitely go again!!
We had a fantastic time the service was excellent very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter made sure our evening was a huge success
They go the extra mile and it is very much appreciated

The service was too class at a place where the ambience was unique, chilled and great to dine in. Food was great with many dishes very uniquely done. Highly recommended and will definitely be back! The mead and alcohol range is superb with horns as glasses a nice touch!
Perfect night, Perfect staff, perfect food and perfect atmosphere.
I have already recommended this to so many people! We loved it!
It was perfect for our special anniversary dinner and were so grateful for the special treatment by the staff at mjolner. What a great restaurant!
Had the best time. Would come back again and again
Fantastic dining experience!
Would definitely go again - the staff, the food and the atmosphere was amazing.
Another fantastic experience, really appreciated the drink alternatives that are pregnancy friendly and the card and shotglass gifts were a lovely touch. Our favourite place to eat in Melbourne for a special occasion.
Great service both from the restaurant and bar, loved the atmosphere given from the place with heirlooms from the viking era. Food was amazing worhty of Valhalla, and skøl
Loved the complimentary mead in shot glass at the beginning of your visit
The decorations, decor, menu etc attention to detail for Viking theme was excellent
Liked the presentation too of beer and cocktails in special glasses, horns etc
Liked the whole theme
Unfortunately at lunch time sitting there wasn't many meal options. That was the only negative about it
Great venue with excellent food. We had drinks at Boilermaker the sister bar to Mjolner before hand so we had a great night out. The Speakeasy Group are a stand out in the hospitality industry and if your looking for somewhere that’s different it’s a must visit.
The whole feel of the restaurant was amazing. So much to look at and the way the food is presented to the way the tables are set, makes for a memorable night.
Great food and vibe
Wide range of cocktails with a Viking theme
Friendly staff and lots of extra touches that make it worth a visit
Incredible place, food and service. My Partner and I dined here for our 2nd anniversary, the staff went above and beyond in making us feel welcomed and at home. Would dine again
Service, food, everything - AMAZING!
I took my partner there as a surprise for his birthday & he loved it, they made him feel very special!
the room for tables for two felt small and away from any ambiance . the service was a little slow, and we didn't receive our main meal until 90 minutes following our arrival. The meal itself was a bit underwhelming with some side dishes on the not warm enough side of things...
and I was expecting more variety of beers on tap.
Good restaurant for a one off visit. Viking theme is great from drinking out of a horn to picking your own knife. However whilst generous portion sizes the food is expensive. Though one of the biggest drawbacks is the table spacing, specifically the restaurant feels very cramped with the tables so close together.
Honestly the food was great, but I prebooked the table a month a head and also called the week before to change the booking- when I arrived the waitress told me there was a 15% surcharge due to being a public holiday weekend. They said they “tried to contact me, but weren’t able to get onto me” to let me know before hand- which they didn’t, I never had a missed call/email not to mention me calling to chance the booking the week before?
The service certainly wasn’t worth the extra $106 we ended up forking our for an already expensive meal.
We went to Mjolner Melbourne to celebrate our 19th anniversary and it was a wonderful night. The service was wonderful, the food and drinks were delicious and the experience was relaxed and fun; we even received beautiful little shot glasses as gifts! Could not recommend highly enough.
My partner and I were looking forward to our night out a Mjølner as we are quite intrigued by Viking and Norse culture. The decor, food and drinks were excellent and visually aesthetically pleasing however the whole concept was lost due the the blaring rnb club music. This ruined the night and we had to cancel other bookings as we were both left with horrible headaches due to the noise.
To the owners, the establishment is a wonderful concept please look into more appropriate music such as Nordic folk music.
After going to Mjolner in Sydney, we had high expectations. We had loved Sydney so much & were so excited. Unfortunately, we were greatly disappointed with Melbourne’s Mjolner service & food considering the cost. The drinks were good, but as the night progressed we watched other larger tables being attended to, and the smaller couples being ignored. Our mains arrived 1.5hrs after we had ordered, no one approached us to get more drinks so we had to wave down a staff member. The pork special was tough, as was the wagyu beef, potatoes were flavourless and there was no seasoning on anything. We are so incredibly disappointed.
Hey Lizzie, Thank- you for coming in to visit us at Mjølner Melbourne. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your drinks with us on the night. We are always aiming to ensure our guest's experience is nothing short of amazing and I am terribly disappointed to read that the rest of the night did not live up to your expectations. Please feel free to reach out to me personally Erin.firstname.lastname@example.org o m.au so we can discuss this further. Kind regards, Erin - Restaurant Manager
Food is well worth the price but this is a place for special event celebrations not you every day night out to dinner. the staff are wonderful and helpful and so friendly.
Mjolner was a great experience.
The atmosphere was great and the staff were all excellent.
It was not cheap but the experience was worth it.
All round ten out of ten! Highly recommend for any occasion!
We loved the idea of the restaurant and were really excited to try it out! A lot of thought had obviously been put into the Viking theme, everything from the decor, to the staff outfits, to the interactive aspects for us as diners. You can "choose your weapon" from a leather pouch full of decorative carving knives, and drink your beer from a horn. Service was impeccable, very friendly and attentive. The only thing that let down the experience for us was the food, it wasn't bad, it just could have been a lot better. Because of the Vikings theme we were thinking it would be large feast like portions, rustic in style. What we were served had more of a fine dining approach, which to me, doesn't really suit the theme of the restaurant. And for me personally, the flavour combinations could use some work. It didn't suit my palette, making me not want to finish my starter or main. I would also consider it to be on the expensive side, it was about $180 for the two of us and we only drank water. Overall I would say it would be a good place to have dinner with friends or family to celebrate a special occasion in a fun and different way, but don't expect a lot from the food.
Fantastic atmosphere, the staff are lovely on every visit, the food is always amazing!
Amazing food for a big boys night out. Great variety and flavors
Waiter who served us was named Nick and he did an absolutely fantastic job. We got the $70/p meal set and the food was outstanding. All the waiters/waitresses were incredible and the ability to watch the care the chefs put into the work was something spectacular. The decorations were amazing too. My only issue might be the music. I would love to come back one day and enjoy music a little heavier or even a traditional soundtrack. Will definately be back, will definately be dragging friends along too.
This was for a birthday dinner and I was given a really sweet shot glass in the shape of a horn and a handwritten birthday card. They obviously put a lot of thought into their patrons and what we think of them.
I love this restaurant and look forward to having reasons to come back!
The only thing I didnt like was the rap music playing. For a viking restaurant there should be the correct music, at least play amon amarth once.
Great venue and very impressed with quality of food. Had a group of 7 and selected 3 course option, which meant we could sample a wide range of food from the menu. Service was prompt but seemed almost rushed at times. Music was also at the borderline of impairing conversation.
Overall a great night, with all attending very satisfied.
