We had such a great night! Such a cool spot. Our server seemed to be having a bad day... but besides that it was amazing.
Incredible restaurant can't wait to go back again.
Great experience, great food, great staff, highly recommend.
Well recommended for a one off treat. Food is excellent if you're into meat that is.
Bit expensive for a casual dining, but worth the extra dollars for the experience.
Great theme, exceptional food n amazing cocktail list
Great food! Great restaurant! But I felt the Viking vibe was lacking and to be honest it’s a bit pricey.
It is very much in the Vue Dumonde pricing range which I was surprised at.
Absolutely outstanding service and food. The price may be a little steep, but the experience is well worth it.
So delicious, great service and heaps of fun!
It was my partner’s birthday and they gave him a shot glass to take home- above and beyond!
It is expensive, but well worth it for a special occasion. A very memorable feast!
Everything was amazing. Been back so many times and it never ceases to exceed my expectations.
This is based on my....4th visit here? It has become less cheesy with the "theatrics" which is great but still has a slight underlying cringe factor to it. Unfortunately again, we were "butted up" against a table back to back (with the first walk away to the left as you go up the stairs) which makes it a bit annoying for the staff to squeeze through, needing to move water jugs over heads to get past and just general feeling of being confined in a space just because they don't want to "spread us out" (even though there were only 5 tables in at the time we were there, would have been much better access and sitting for everyone, had we just been moved one table up...). I guess things like this makes you consider the difference in attention to customer's comfort and space enjoyment when you're spending $400 between 2 people.. The food is ALWAYS amazing. The service is usually great... however not sure I'm keen to be spending $200p/p for the overall feel there any more. (Yep, we drink up good when we are there!)
Thank you so much to the staff at Mjolner who were so Incredibly accomodating! We loved the novelty of drinking out of the horns and thoroughly enjoyed their range of cocktails and whiskey. Will visit again!
Great experience, food and service was excellent, drinks are a bit pricey the music was probably a bit over the top lots of rap etc.
Celebrated our anniversary with my boyfriend here. Mjolner staff not only made it an intimate and amazing experience, but were very kind in gifting us our own Mjolner shot cups as an anniversary present. I would definitely recommend others to come enjoy the Viking experience.
P.s Make sure you to try taking a shot down the bone marrowbone! One in a life time experience.
Dining at Mjolner is very playful. Drinking out of horns, utilising daggers as steak knives, downing a shot of whisky through the bone marrow once you're done eating in it and more fire play involved with selected cocktails and food. It's definitely a place to go to if you like to be entertained during dinner. The highlight dish of the night was of course the bone marrow, so delicious! Overall it's a great restaurant to dine at, at least once in this lifetime. The staff were great - efficient, entertaining and friendly, food was delicious, although, don't expect it to be a proper Scandi restaurant that serves proper Scandi food as it's the restaurant's designs that's Scandi and ambience was lovely, not overly noisy for a date night.
Amazing service from our host. Food and drink was phenomenal. Extensive wine list full of quality selections. Just disappointed it took us so long to get there!
Beautiful food. Great service. Wonderful decor. RnB and rap music seems out of place in a Viking bar/restaurant
Awesome customer service and vibe.
Food and drinks were lovely.
Only down side was there should have been Viking music instead of hip hop for a better ambience. Was like a hip hop night club. Absolutely loved everything else.
Amazing, high quality food and service but a set menu for $75 quickly got out of hand when extras were offered which doubled the cost of the meal.
We were a group of 7 and we had the set course menu.
The staff were wonderful and the manager is a very cool dude who served us for most of the night.
2 days later, everyone in the group is still saying how good the food was.
Definitely worth the experience. Our cost was about $200 per head however we did have a lot of drinks.
Went with some friends to celebrate my 25th Birthday.
Food was incredible, as was the service, and the drink options were both fun and delicious.
They were more than happy to cater to a couple vegetarian guests too and did an amazing job at it.
The ambience and aesthetic of the restuarant was a lot of fun, and was done in a very smart and tasteful way.
Will definitely be coming back many times more in the future.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our night, food and ambiance great. From first point of contact the service was excellent, even to giving our daughter a small gift for her birthday. Happily recommend Mjolner as an entertaining night out
The staff were lovely went to Mjolner for my partners birthday and the staff gave my partner a card for their birthday and a gift my partner and I loved it
Mjolner give graduation gift. It's a wonderful unique gift. Very thoughtful! Excellent service!! Thank you.
Amazing! Service was great and so was the food. Highly recommend!
The food was very nice, and service was excellent. Felt it was a bit overpriced, but it was quite a novelty.
What fun! Drinking from horns. Fabulous cocktails. Everyone friendly. Service good. Barman downstairs was particularly awesome. Thanks!
It was amazing atmosphere amazing food and the service was amazing and I can’t wait to come back and have dinner there again or even just pop down to the bar and have a few drinks with friends it was absolutely amazing thank you
Great atmosphere and fantastic service!
We would highly recommend visiting this restaurant.
We went for my husbands birthday and had a blast!
Amazing food, excellent service and great atmosphere. A great dining experience with that extra point of difference with the Viking theme! Will be back!
the food was great service was great tho it was slow at times understandably because it appeared to be pretty busy we were overcharged by $63.90 i think we're still trying to find was but everyone's drinks didn't match the docket as we made an online and throughout the evening i was tracking drinks also im sure its just a discrepancy but still $60 is still alot to be overcharged. would i go there again yes but i will makesure to write my own inventory to make sure there's no mistakes made. Value; the food was marvelous for 75 dollars a head my table was happily feed and all loved the food felt the food was definatly aple and worth the charged value as for the drinks cocktails were great but the cost is definatly 300-500% increase ontop of the RRP wich i find ridiculous ie a a bottle of spiced mead can fill 4 horns yet you chage the value of the bottle for one. i understand the concept of fine dining as ive worked in many aspects of hospitality over the years from food prep to silver service and bar. the venue seating arrangements could be better organized it felt that the seating should be more authentic meaning there would be better-made use of space benches or stools instead of seating.
i felt it was a little overpacked at our table most of the night it was hard to maneuver from the table to the bathroom for my guests and even to rise from there seat and the tables were to close to each other. other than my few gripes it was really enjoyable night and i do thank you and its likely you'll see me again
The idea is great but the execution was unenthusiastic. The wait staff seemed to have become bored of the whole concept of Viking knives and horns. Drinks service was slow as all the drinks for the whole restaurant were being served downstairs by one bar tender. The food portions were much smaller than described - the steak was good, very well cooked. The vegetables were covered in thick layers of mayo to disguise their lack of taste.
This was an interesting experience.
First 2 times we went here, we absolutely loved it - the environemnt was amazing, the food tasted beautiful and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. In our minds, we had found the perfect place for meat.
After last night's experience though, I don't think I can reccomend this place to anyone beyond the novelty.
On our most recent visit, we were told our table was not ready and were sent to the bar. After sitting for 25 minutes and not being served, we got taken to our table. The complete disregard from staff continued upstairs. Collectively we spent $600 that night and left very unsatisfied.
My partner got 3 drinks throughout the night (despite ordering them 5-6 times)
We ordered most of the menu and were forced to fit it on a small table due to the staff reserving tables for walk-ins (that never came...)
On multiple occasions we had to stop staff that weren't serving us because we could see our waitress avoiding us
The food is consistently amazing (full credit to the chefs only), but every aspect of the service was unacceptably poor. When a group of people come in with the intention of spending a lot of money, we expected to be served in a way that would allow us to. Instead we left $600 poorer and felt as though we had thrown away our money.
I don't know if we'll be going back here again. No matter how good the restaurants theme and food is, it cant make up for the unsatisfactory service. Melbourne is full of great food, the staff and environment is what keeps people coming.
If this sort of service continues, my best reccomendation would be to introduce a takeaway option; I would take that over my experience last night
I could have left the restaraunt early, without having received my meal, and left happy. The appetizers and drinks alone made this a great experience.
Not that the main meal was subpar, mind you. No, the food was excellent.
The moment you sit down at the table you are swept up with the atmosphere. The staff were great, and so very friendly. The room was not too noisy, and the food came quick, even on a busy saturday night.
This was a fantastic place, the food was delicious and everything was themed from decor, staff clothed , food and drinks. A most unforgettable experience.
Great environment. Tables too close together, so very uncomfortable. Took 25 minutes for first drink to arrive. Super loud, hard to converse at the table. It’s OK, but for the $$$, service and comfort need to be better.
We went here for my husband’s birthday, and had an amazing time. The service was a bit slow, but the staff were awesome, and the drinks were stellar!
Great restaurant, unique, tasty, theatrical. Just hope the magic isn’t worn off on the waiters through repetition, they are the fulcrum of the experience!!
The food was absolutely superb, I can’t compliment the chefs enough. The wagyu steak was by far the best steak I have ever had and when combined with the garlic butter it just melts in your mouth.
The Scandinavian/Germanic theme is always a delight and pleasant on the eyes. It manages to effectively grab your attention and provide an otherworldly charm whilst not being offensively in your face.
