Michael Jordan's Restaurant - Oak Brook
Our server Henry was amazing!! From start to finish he made everything even more special that it was itself! He truly took care of us, was personal, kind and so friendly. We will be back first and foremost because the service we were given and the food and atmosphere is one of a kind!
Top notch service once again! Delicious food too!!
Service and food was excellent but no one was at the hostess table when we arrived nor for 5 minutes. Otherwise David was very attentive and the food was very plentiful
Exceeded all expectations. Can’t wait to go back! We went to celebrate a birthday and left feeling really appreciative of the customer service, quality and hospitality.
The entire experience was superb! Was celebrating sister's birthday. She said was best one ever! Thank you.
Not for dinner portion to small for the price very small selection on menu restaurant is overrated nothing special about this location just a few on a Friday night should have been a clue to leave but the positive thing was we were celebrating our 39 year anniversary and got a card and a small chocolate dessert to share maybe just live up to the name and make the portion larger and at least give out dinner rolls with the meal. First time we have ever gone to a upscale restaurant that didn’t give out dinner rolls to start. Thank you
Our meals were great and the service was very good.
I brought my son, who is getting more into basketball, for his 10th birthday. He enjoyed himself and loved the food (even though he ordered his usual chicken tenders). I had a steak and a side, and, they were both perfect. The waitress helped make it special by presenting a birthday cake, and autographed birthday card and a quick tour of the party room (to view more photos)-all not expected, but very appreciated.
Prospective Patrons: Fair warning...
Wait staff needs more wine service training. Server actually claimed not be a “wine person”, so didn’t know much about wine - or how to properly serve it! Really? It’s not that complicated. If your guests are purchasing wine from you, you had best know enough to handle the task of presenting and serving appropriately. Please provide adequate training/instruction to your staff.
Wine list vintage dates are also inaccurate. A 2016 vintage is NOT the same wine as a 2015! Yet the wine is priced like a commodity; irrespective of vintage. This offensive, unprofessional, and totally avoidable! Please correct this administrative issue.
This was our first visit to this particular MJ Restaurant. Everything was fine, except the wife was expecting a little more booths.
Out of town clients treated us to dinner. Lamb EXCELLENT, Filet EXCELLENT, 2 steaks EXCELLENT, Lobster tails were very overcooked that were served with the special, dry & tuff. My steak, rib eye, was requested med. well and it came out med. I ate around the outside but took the rest home to be re-fired there. I didn't want the table to eat without me so I waited to tell our waitress about it towards the end of our meal but I left hungry. I couldn't eat the way too red meat. The brocollinni could have been cooked a bit longer. I get tender crisp but not raw. Spinach was excellent along with the double baked potatoe. Clients were impressed. This was my third time dinning at MJ's and I was disapointed again. They just can't cook a steak med-well and other steak houses do it perfectly!
We were looking forward to trying out this place, but overall were a bit disappointed. Initial service was slow. We were sitting for 20 minutes before anyone came over to welcome us and take a drink order. As an apology, our server did give us a complimentary appetizer, which was very kind. And our server was more attentive the rest of the evening.
When the food came out, our steaks were cooked medium-well when we asked for medium-rare. The rib eye was also in need of seasoning. The quality of the meat and ingredients is very high, it was just a series of preparation and cooking errors that unfortunately resulted in a less than stellar dining experience. Our hope is that it was just an off night.
The atmosphere is chic, cool and comfortable. The bar and outdoor patio were lovely. Great wine list and fun cocktails.
This place was terrible, the only thing they didn’t mess up with the calamari. Garlic bread says blue cheese fondue sauce. So we made sure sauce was on the side because we don’t like blue cheese. Only to find out blue cheese comes on the bread too. Didn’t eat it. Lobster ravioli was ok. Nothing bad about it but nothing good either for 26 bucks. My steak sandwich was the worst I’ve ever had in my life. I couldn’t bite through it, it was that fatty and was like trying to bite rubber. I can honestly say I’ve never had that happen where I took a bite of something and I couldn’t bite it off. I was like a dog with a chew toy and it still wouldn’t come off. Didn’t eat it. The meals came out 2 minutes after we got our appetizers and there was like no tables in there so I know it wasn’t because they needed to turn the table. No manager ever stopped by and nobody asked why we didn’t eat any of our meals except the calamari. I never complained because I feel uncomfortable and rude doing it but the fact we had to go to chick fil a after spending 100 bucks for 2 people is pathetic and made me feel like I had to write a review. I’ve tried almost every restaurant in the oak brook and Yorktown area and this one was by far the worst.
Everything was great! Our waiter Henry was amazing! He was very attentive and makes sure our time there was enjoyable.
The service was excellent. Henry was our waiter, very informative, friendly, and has a great positive attitude. The cocktails were well done, the calamari was excellent. Wedge salad wa delicious, with a wonderful thick bacon complimenting it. Salmon was cooked to perfection, and the Prime Rib was outstanding. Thank you MJ:)
Very nice setup, good food and drink with decent service and parking.
Only one accessible parking spot and it was filled, and valet station blocked the sidewalk. So probably won't be back.
Definitely a special occasion venue. Was a little bit pricey, but what do you expect from Michael Jordan’s LOL. I will say comparing to Gibsons, DikaS, Ruth Chris, this one is definitely in the category if not surpass them
The steak was prepared well. However, it was not as tender as expected for it to be Delmanico cut.
The crabcake, bread, and salad was phenomenal.
Went to celebrate a friend and my wife’s birthday. We had a wonderful time the anniversary special was great and the food and service was awesome.
Best steak I've ever had! Everyone enjoyed their meal and we had a wonderful time.
Everything was great except the food was super salty. I had scallops, my 2 friends had the pork chop. All were very salty.
Entree was not great, so value was disappointing. Service was great, though!
Good morning Jills, Thank you for taking time to post a review about Michael Jordan's in Oak Brook. I am very sorry for the unacceptable entree we served. I would appreciate the chance to speak with you directly and possibly offer a gift certificate to cover the expense. The restaurant number is 630.828.2932 Thank you for the kind words about our service! I hope to hear from you soon. Best Regards, JP General Manager
Excellent service and AMAZING food! Thanks for everything!
We had the bacon appetizer, it may sound unusual but it is so good, a must have.
Braised pork shank was delicious, cooked really well, meat just fell off the bone. Went for my husbands birthday, they gave him a small round chocolate type cake, that could definitely use some improvement.
All in all we would definitely go back!
Everything was lovely
The service was amazing. Our waiter was awesome. The food was sub par. When compared to the location downtown it does not add up. I ordered the ravioli lobster and the lobster was over cook the ravioli was pretty good but with the main part of the dish being over cooked it completely took away from the dish.
Samantha was a wonderful person, she was very helpful and did everything she could to make me and my fiancée happy on my birthday
I HAVE BEEN TO MJ A COUPLE OF TIMES AND ON THIS DAY I ORDERED THE BIG MIKE THEY FORGOT TO PUT MY CHEESE ON IT AND IT WAS OVER DONE. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH MY BURGER. I WOULD OF SAID SOMETHING BUT I WAS THERE FOR LUNCH AND HAD TO HURRY BACK TO WORK. I REALLY LOVE THE PLACE MAYBE JUST A BAD DAY FOR THE COOK.
Good morning Karen, Thank you for your kind words regarding Michael Jordan's about "really loving the place". I am sorry for the mistakes of not putting cheese on your burger and overcooking it. I would like invite you back and offer a gift certificate to cover the cost. If you would contact me with your mailing address I can send one today. My number is 630.828.2932. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you again and have a great day. Best Regards, JP General Manager
The food and service was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant.
Shay was a great server and made good recommendations, even gluten-free options. We had the 2nd Anniversary special. The filet was fabulous; the bone-in rib eye was the best. Key Lime pie was creamy with just the right amount of lime flavor. Noise level was just right - we could hear each other! We will definitely return.
The food was terrible, Texas Roadhouse has better steak and sides! The wrong food was brought out as well..
They had a special for the 2nd anniversary. $46 for salad, choice of any of the steaks, a side, and dessert. Since the steaks are typically $40-55 by themselves, this was a great deal. I had the Delmonico, one of my companions had the ribeye, and one had the filet, and they were all very good. Service was outstanding.
We were just two girlfriends going to lunch. We had Henry as our server and he made the experience seem special. We enjoyed our meal and added desert and coffee thanks to Henry and his pleasant attitude and extra good service.
We had a lovely time. Despite being seated near the kitchen, the noise level was very low which is a real plus. I hate struggling to hear the others at my own table. Our server was very attentive without being overly so. She was spot on with a wine selection and also the three course special for the evening. My steak was delicious! Our server even brought a lovely "Happy Birthday" platter to my husband. I can't say enough good things about Michael Jordan's and we will be back soon!
The Eat Like Mike special was a great deal. We all had the 45 day dry aged steak cooked medium and it came ou tvery juicy and tender. We had the farlic toast and it was very favorable. The chocolate cake dessert that came with it was delicious. Out server was very friendly and haelpful. She sugguested the garlic bread and the wedge salad and both were excellent suggestions.
My fiancé and I was visiting Chicago and it was a great restaurant we definitely will come back again. The steak was delicious and it melted in your mouth we didn’t need any steaks or anything.
