Mi Vida has always been a stop on my many tours of family and friends while they’re in DC. The ambience and location are 5/5, with unique and authentic decor throughout the entire restaurant and patio.
However, the food quality seems to have dipped in recent visits, which I would give a 2/5. No longer does the food seem “cooked to order”, but rather line cooked and warmed under an industrial heater. The guacamole was especially sub-par compare to my first visits here, and the entrees not much better. The brunch menu pricing compared to the quality of food is, frankly put, too high.
A $77 bill for 2 people where neither the food nor drinks were bottomless? It’s time to reassess the brunch option at Mi Vida.
Overall recommendation - be cautious and be ready to spend more than you‘d like for subpar food in a great location.
There was not many people yet service took a while.
In such a cute area, had so much fun. The drinks and food was excellent!! I will be coming back!
Outstanding. Thoughtfully prepared and well seasoned interpretations. Looking forward to returning.
My daughter birthday
Delicious food - not a cheap meal but everything was really tasty! Service was great and love the decor and vibe!
I do not write reviews often, but this experience was TERRIBLE. We waited forever for service, the food was very mediocre (especially given how much we paid), and the waiter was less than responsive or even friendly. We will NOT go back there again and I have told my friends to not go to this place.
Xavier was an incredible server!
Food is always fantastic but it's a loud and crowded place at lunch time.
The food is absolutely great...full of flavor
We loved it! Great waitress and such a fantastic place to be with your friends.
Food was great, and very pretty ambiance, but it was very noisy so my date and I couldn’t hear each other or the waiter, and waiting for our table to be ready for us was awkward- no place to stand.
Wonderful waiter. Great food.
Service is not great. We had to chase down our waiter for every request. He took our entree order 30 mins after we sat down. Brought guacamole to table after waiting a long time. We did not order and thought it was to make up for slow service. We were charged. Very loud. Food is average but not worth the price and hassle.
Great food and perfect dinner spot before a show at The Anthem.
Great cocktails (Thanks Aaron!). Wonderful food & service. Reasonable prices. Would happily return if I were in the area.
Good food, special dishes, no “standard” Mexican, but very noisy restaurant.
We happened to have reservations at Mi Vida when the Mardi Gras festival was taking place at The Wharf -- and the restaurant was crowded and noisy. We were seated on the (heated and enclosed) balcony -- a great place to watch the festivities. The service was attentive and the food was good. Conversation was impossible, though as much for the noise coming from outside (where a band was playing) as inside. I had expected a more adventurous menu, but what we had was well-prepared and this is one of the most reasonable places to catch a bite to eat on The Wharf.
Have a cocktail at the bar with a friend and our table that I requested outside which is almost impossible to get was ready for me when the other people in my party showed up. It was a wonderful evening that ran smoothly. I would suggest calling and making reservations ahead of time...
Thank Mi Vida! Can’t wait to return..
Delicious gourmet Mexican with a good Tequila and Mezcal selection.
Always a good experience when visiting the Wharf. They are always busy so plan ahead. One of the better sit down options for the kids
Very good all around. Excellent mole - very dark and rich. And they obliged my request for reduced agave in my margarita to a tee. A little pricey, but that's the wharf.
The service was just okay. Food was delicious. If you want to celebrate your first weeding anniversary, you should not go to this place. I don’t think they will care much if you are celebrating something.
Gourmet Mexican! Pricey but worth it. classy but casual. Great combination of food, ambience, and service.
Waited forever for the appetizer (empanadas) they were out but it was served with the main course so it defeated its purpose the food was good not spectacular but good it was very cold and you could feel the draft of cold air, it was ok overall Del Mar was better service but the food sucked there too
We had dinner on 2/14 when it was 20 degrees outside and were sat in a room that clearly did not have the heat on. I, along with my friends, had to keep our coats and scarves on the entire dinner and our legs were freezing by the end. I asked for the heat to be turned on and it was clear from the response that it wouldn't be and it never was throughout the evening. It was a really uncomfortable dinner. In addition, my friend who is a vegetarian and ordered the vegetarian dish got very sick and I did as well. Overall, we will not be returning as it was a very disappointing experience.
The food at Mi Vida was awesome, especially the Mole Sauce. We even asked the waitress if we could buy some of the sauce to take home with it since my husband couldn't get enough of it. :)
The service was wonderful as was the atmosphere. We were seated upstairs which had a wonderful view, which I am sure is even better when it is sunny or during sunsets. We will definitely be back when we can enjoy the view a bit more.
We made our Valentine dinner reservation for Mi Vida. We’ve been eagerly waiting for a time we could try Mi Vida before seeing a show at the Anthem next door and timing never worked out until this year. We were surprised when the hostess led us to the third floor and seated us a window spot. The view was amazing overlooking the wharf area! The food was absolutely delicious and the margaritas were on point. We cannot wait to go back to Mi Vida and try other items featured on the menu!
Fun! More plain options would have been nice! But everything was truly delicious!! Beautiful glass ware!!
It was a bit chilly, but aside from that everything was fantastic.
Never a fail. Wifey was happy and we ate delicious. Always a great experience.
Delicious guac and margaritas. I loved the mole. A bit pricey for what it is but still would recommend- great location.
Delicious! We had such an incredible meal on Saturday that we actually returned for brunch on Sunday. The quality was just as impressive the second time around. Keep up the great work!
Great service and food!
Food was adequate. Service mediocre, lots of pushing dishes and drinks,
unfortunately one of the orders was not prepared as requested.
Level of noise on second floor was extremely high.
The prices charged don't reflect the food nor service, the interiors
and views were excellent.
The service upon arrival at the front desk was excellent.
Wonderful experience and the decor was fabulous!
Food came out SUPER fast. It’s not a fast food joint. We didn’t have a chance to enjoy our drinks and pre-meal
Conversation. It felt very rushed. The food and drinks were completely average. Shocked to see mi vida is associated with Fonda in nyc as it’s a favorite of mine and this experience did not compare.
It was my dreamdate birthday dinner. I had The Best orange margarita ever. Such a sexy restaurant!
Four of us ate her prior to a show at the Anthem. Service is very attentive, bordering on overbearing. Flavors are strong but delicious. Wines were high end...our Malbec at $78 was one of the lesser priced.
First, the staff and the manager were extremely accommodating and friendly. We were seated at a lovely table by the window upstairs with a view of the water. The soup of the day was a coconut corn chowder that was delicious. They also make good guacamole. Unfortunately, I think the food and drinks are overpriced. I would recommend this place for the location and the view. It has a lively bar and they have a nice happy hour.
