We utilise the best ingredients Tasmania has to offer with an influence of the sea. Our food is predominately cooked over fire using our Asado Grill and wood oven.
Our menu is seasonal and changes regularly depending on the days catch, best enjoyed with our small and large sharing plates.
A 100% Tasmanian wine list has been designed to pair with our menu and includes wines from our tap system plus boutique Tasmanian Beers & Spirits.
Wasn't value for money, $47 for a pork chop and 3 cherries, 1 tablespoon each of parsnip puree and plum sauce. When I made the reservation I requested seating in side, only to be placed out on the balcony which was cold. They did offer us a blanket, never heard of that before. Was going to have dessert as we were still hungry but decided against it as it was too cold to sit there any longer. Notice they sat everyone out on the balcony, no-one was sitting inside. One table with children were crying because they were cold, so they gave them blankets.
A great meal with attentive service.. I would certainly go there again.
First time at the re-branded Restaurant, was not disappointed. The menu is certainly different but interesting. The staff were very willing and able to assist with our selections of food.
Jennie had the Lamb Ribs, the meat fell off the bone and tender. This was accompanied by a Cucumber & Yoghurt dressing to take away the bite of the Chili in the Lamb dressing.
I am always a sucker for Battered Flathead, a very generous serving.
A bottle of Freycinet Riesling to go with it made a very enjoyable evening.
We enjoyed Meresta Eatery so much we went to it both nights we stayed at Binalong Bay. The staff were friendly and very helpful with our questions about the menu, the food was delicious and the location was superb.
New operator at a famous spot, the one and only restaurant at Binalong Bay. Come here for the most gorgeous views along the Bay of Fires in Tasmania, best tables on the covered deck, except when windy, stay inside. Nicely clean and modern decor, seaside ambiance, welcoming place for adults and families alike. Great service and staff who look after you well. Small plates of grave lax and mussels very tasty, the main plate of fish and chips was a bit heavy, flathead overcooked, but came with delicious matchstick fries. The single serving pizzas looked tasty too, but we didn't order any. Dessert had only one choice left, as it was the last day of the week. We had the delicious home made carrot cake. Excellent local wines are very costly, drink more water with your meal. Cost of food was high for us locals, we get better fish & chips elsewhere, like the Mouth Cafe in Scamander for half the price. Mainland tourists are more used to these prices, so they wouldn't bat an eyelash, especially with this beautiful setting and view.
Again, absolutely delicious fresh produce prepared in different flavours, perfect for share plates. Loved every dish :)
Meresta has been open for just several weeks and the owners Theresa and Anthony are lovely (coming from careers in finance and truffle farming!). The restaurant is situated beautifully on the water with a stunning panoramic view of Binalong Bay. The service is warm, knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is designed with starters, small and large plates, perfect for sharing and enjoying the many flavors from the oysters available with a variety of accompaniments to choose from; the Kingfish, served sashimi style with a delightful delicate citrus sauce finished with chive flowers; to lamb ribs and a 1/2 chicken served with a tasty preparation. Meresta is also incredibly accommodating of allergies, gluten and dairy, without sacrificing a hint of flavor. I’d recommend Meresta and wish Anthony and Theresa all the best as they take on this new and exciting adventure!
I asked for a medium steak with a side of fries. The steak was charcoaled on the edges, dried out and barely warm. Fries were just warm.
The food arrived very quickly after ordering, so I can’t understand how it ended up being cold, unless it was cooked previously and not heated properly.
Hi Trevor, thanks for the feedback, we sincerely apologise that the steak wasn't to a standard you expected, obviously we try and do the best we can for all of our customers, if you had made us aware of the issue on the night we certainly would have addressed it then. Apologies again hopefully we can see you on a return visit and make it up to you. regards
We have dined at night several times at Binalong Bay's new restaurant , Meresta, and each time we have thoroughly enjoyed the stunning fresh produce presented in innovative, delicious and creative ways. The menu suits both shared plate dining or individual meal dining. On New Years Eve , we loved the tastes of fresh raw yellowtail kingfish, Lamb ribs, wood roasted and grilled root vegetables, oysters , Chicken Liver Parfait ( so yum!!) and a specially designed Summer Gin Fizz Cocktail. We found the staff to be plenty, friendly and ready to happily explain &/or make suggestions. Thanks Theresa, Anthony, James, Cathy and staff for a fabulous dining experience.
The service was nice. The food is rich in local seafood but there are also vegetarian and meat options so there is something for everyone. They have the food options of either small Or big plate. The portion sizes for both options are good & reasonable. The food has a special taste to it so don’t expect something you can get at every bistro. The flavor combination is great and definitely worth trying. But even if you just want to stick to your normal meal they will be able to serve you. I would greatly recommend and worth coming a second time since their menu always changes to keep the food as fresh as possible which I think is great.
