My second trip to Memoria in a month and the experience was totally different. Seated outside on a precariously tilted table didn't seem to bother the hostess when I asked for help fixing the table with a shim. Not at all corrected, she declared it "fine" and walked away. The bigger disappointment was the food. I ordered the same dish I enjoyed on my first visit: paccheri al pistaccchio. Instead of the creamy saffron sauce (as described on the menu), it showed up with 9 tubes of pasta, not even covering the bottom of a medium sized dish, in a flavorless white liquid-y broth. Not even close to the previous experience. I noticed that other reviews cited similar issues, so I'm giving up on this place and have already cancelled my upcoming reservation for a 3rd visit. If the reviews uniformly improve, I hope to return.
This restaurant just misses the mark for me. They have gone through many turnovers in the last few years. The location is great, the ambiance is great, this time around the menu looked promising, but it just falls flat.
Was a little strange that the restaurant had the doors open and no ac and it was 86 degrees outside, so was hot whether we sat inside or outside. We elected to sit outside, but no breeze, so we were sweaty.
The pasta my friend ordered was too salty.
On an 85 degree day, all of the floor to ceiling windows were open. Illegal to do in NYC if you are operating a/c. It was SO hot. Our complaints were met with a shrug. The stench from the garbage piled up on the curb was nauseating. It's too bad, because the place is cute, food is decent and our server was nice. We may go back in the fall when its not so hot. They obviously want a noisy vibe for passersby, but they are putting it above the comfort of their customers.
Great food. Wonderful atmosphere.
I wouldn’t recommend this place. Terrible service, inconsistent food, and not well staffed. I ordered a pasta dish with pistachio and the sauce was the consistency of soup!
They just opened. Owner couldn’t have been more cordial! Great wine s Leviton by the glass! Service very disorganized and food okay.. think since they only just opened few weeks ago, they need time to figure things out. I will go back. Nice to have casual spot in the hood!
They didn’t have the wine I ordered but brought a bottle and showed it as if it was what I ordered and when I got up to ask, she said it was a “better” more expensive wine. What?
One member of our party was told they didn’t have what she wanted but when another member had to send her dish back because it was too salty, she was able to order that dish! When my colleague complained about the saltiness, the cook came out and said it was because it was a “cured” meat - which the menu didn’t say and so what? Still too salty.
The servers clearly had inadequate training - they served and removed dishes by reaching in front of other diners.
My saffron sauce pasta was tasteless and didn’t even have the color of saffron. The other main dishes were unmemorable or inedible. The artichoke appetizer was good.
More could be said, but there is no way I would return to this restaurant. It was embarrassing as I had picked it out. There was no recognition / acknowledgement of the issues we experienced.
Wanted to try this new place menu looked good and tested good as well. Need to better coordinate things, but was good was as expected. I will go back to try out the other dishes in the menu. I also like the fact that they had a Italian restaurant week priz fix menu, which consists on any 2 or 3 items on the regular menu, something that other restaurants don’t do 👍
Service was courteous and fast. Food was tasty. Portions weren’t too big. Bread was delicious. Overall a good dining experience.
If you do not mind car honking (its nyc, you shouldn’t) this place is amazing!! food and service was amazing, highly recommend
The wait for someone to come to our table was 15 min and for the food to come was 30 min, no I would not recommend anyone go there. Everything was a long wait.
Fantastic food. This is where to go to eat authentic Italian dishes like my favorites, fried artichokes with lemon aioli dipping sauce and the grilled octopus. The pasta and meat dishes were delicious and so was the gelato!
This is such a gem in Midtown East, especially for those looking to have a business lunch. The staff was friendly and the food was generous and tasty. We look forward to coming back.
We sat outside and enjoyed the city sights. Our pasta was fresh and delicious!
