Great service, lovely food and good value. Great meal for 12 people with food timed to come out at the right time which is difficult with a large group
Great t-bone steak!
Service was poor. Food quite good but unexceptional.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and cocktails. Would recommend.
Great value, friendly service (if a little slow on a busy night). Food great - definitely better than you'd expect for the price.
Good hearty food - although the burrata should have been chilled and it was room temperature.
Loved it here. Would definitely go again with friends or on a date etc.
We were going to the theatre which was close by and saw the pre theatre menu so decided on this restaurant. It was extreme good value and the quality of the food and service were amazing. We of course added extra items to our choices however at £30 pp this was amazing value
we go twice a year and will keep coming for lunch. fixed menu such good value
Friendly, attentive staff; relaxed but vibrant vibe; delicious food and cocktails - looking forward to coming back!
Really nice food
Chose this restaurant as I am a regular at the sister restaurant in Hackney Wick which I love and have introduced to many friends.
A little disappointed as service not as good as at Gotto.
At first we were told that the free fizz was not available on a Saturday. I had to show my toptable booking confirmation which was rather embarrassing and not a good start to the experience.
Food was up to the standard at Gotto. Particularly good Burrata and Tiramisu however, so may give it another try.
Great little restaurant offering a tasty menu. Good service and friendly atmosphere
The olives and bread are not included in the menu, and are therefore charged for extra 7 pounds. When the waitress proposed this, she didn’t explain that we would be charged for extra fees. As a frequent restaurant goer, it’s the 1st time we were charged for this. It made me feel like that we were fooled. It’s not big money, but please let us know. Very terrible experience.
Weirdly enough we had all the place for us - I suspect because it was an unusual sunny afternoon in London. We had a late lunch - went for the set menu with bubbles at £20. My burrata was excellent with fresh Maccheroncini in fresh tomato sauce to die for - with fiordilatte (ice cream) affogato to finish off. Awesome.
Food was tasty and the staff were great, I would definitely recommend
I’ve had the lunch menu before which is normally quite good value, this time it was less inspired. There was a nice soup with wild garlic leaves and walnuts. But a very limited choice of mains – I ended up with what was a fairly bland pasta in tomato sauce. The other option was also pasta with rosemary which didn’t sound quite right. The pasta was just a touch too hard for al dente and there wasn’t much flavour so a disappointing meal on this occasion.
The special menu of three courses plus a glass of Prosecco for £20 is exceptional value and they do not compromise on the taste or portion size of the food
We went for the set lunch menu as it’s such good value, 3 courses plus a glass of bubbly £20!
The staff were really friendly and very accommodating. I was pregnant, they happily swapped ingredients on the menu to suit my needs.
Delicious food and very good portion sizes. It wasn’t hugely busy but still a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Will be going back!
Terrible food. Certainly would not recommend it to anyone. My wife's canelloni was taken off the bill as it was so bad, but they still expected us to pay the optional service charge. Got that removed from the bill too. I felt rough for two days after eating the beef ragu.
Walk down the mele e pere (it's Italian rhyming slang..) and you'll find a large and chic bar area with copious additional seating. Sadly, we were seated upstairs for our lunch date, presumably to make the place look a little busier for the benefit of any passing trade. We chose the £20 set menu (3 courses and a glass of something that might have been prosecco) and the food was, if anything, over-plentiful. The burrata starter with focaccia would have been a perfectly nice lunch on its own, but it was followed by a positive onslaught of pasta: two enormous cannelloni swamped by a lake of cheesy sauce, and a heap of dense, chewy tagliatelle slathered in a chunky beef ragu that might have been better employed inside a cottage pie. It was all a bit much, so we ended up swapping in two coffees instead of dessert, which they were more than happy to do. Service was mystifyingly slow, even though the place was far from busy. Our quick lunch ended up taking over an hour and a half, which made me a bit jumpy about getting back to work. Also, I'm sorry to say, we had an unpleasantly pongy waiter, whose overripe BO made us both gag on those rare occasions when he came to our table. Management could really enhance diners' experience by taking its waitstaff's personal hygiene in hand.
The decor downstars might make me want to make a return visit down the apples & pears for a drink at the bar, but the food was pretty standard trat fare, served at a leisurely pace in hamfistedly enormous portions. A great place to come if you have a huge appetite, plenty of time on your hands and a defective sense of smell.
A disappointing experience as the food is extremely salty! Good waiting staff! Poor management interaction (actually zero) when dealing with customer complaints.
Had the lunch time special 3 courses + glass of fizz for £20 + service , great VFM and very tasty .
Excellent value pre theatre menu. Friendly service and nice cocktails.
Another pre-theatre meal at Mele & Pere, this time before going to the Harold Pinter Theatre, a 5-10 minute walk away. Food and service were to their usual high standard, and the three course pre-theatre menu continues to be unbelievably good value. Highly recommended.
We had 2 course lunch menu: beet salad was quite good although too salty. Both mains were bland and tasteless.
It might not look much from the street, but go downstairs to the restaurant and Mele E Pere has a really lovely atmosphere, not to mention a small but very well-executed menu. Loved the starters and sides - will be back again for the gelato! Special mention to the broccoli side dish, which was huge and absolutely delicious.
Normally better food here. The truffle spaghetti was very poor.
Service was not on point either, staff look where not friendly on this occasion
Pre-theatre dinner for two. Very fast friendly service, food was delicious, obviously freshly made. Nice ambience. Would recommend for a date night.
We had the set menu for £19.50 including a glass of wine and 3 courses and it wasn't very good, particularly one of the starters were inedible.
A friend ordered another starter, the Italian ham with toast and it looked lovely. As he was about to tuck in a waiter appeared and whipped it away explaining that there had been an error! Five minutes later they brought it back but 3/4 of it had been removed!
The ragu was quite good as was the dessert but we couldn't help thinking that they should charge a little more and provide nicer food. Also was VERY noisy. They have acoustic panels on the ceiling but it is still noisy not helps by the loud music.
Disappointing visit, service was chaotic as they had two new starters waiting on tables and they clearly didn’t have a clue - not their fault, but perhaps some shadowing would have made it smoother. Had to ask for our wine a few times.
Went on Mother’s Day. Been twice before, but forgot how good the food was.
Deep fried squid, smoked garlic aioli
Burrata pugliese, marinated aubergine and chilli
Lamb meatballs, pecorino romano
Tagliatelle with beef ragù
Grilled baby chicken with rainbow chard and garlic
Sussex beef ribeye steak, sangiovese sauce 300g
Good wine by the glass and good cocktail
Food very decent
Very good service, and menu, staff friendly and pleasant surroundings
Great menu choice for the offer (3 courses and bubbles for £20) and brilliant value too. Dishes were all freshly prepared and tasty whilst service was excellent. Would recommend for good Italian food.
You feel cheated in this unusually busy restaurant...£24 for a very salty spaghetti like pasta with a few shavings of truffle, completely flat Prosecco which the management try and convince you is the way it should be, happy hour drinks which are limited in choice yet double the usual price to start with (and watered down)....etc, etc, etc. At least staff were pleasant and willing to listen to the poor feedback! Cannot ever recommend unfortunately!
The food was fantastic! Excellent olives with nduja sausage! Lovely staff and venue. Had a wonderful evening!
The kitchen was way too slow which forced the waiting staff and management to keep apologising for the delay.
Felt bad for them.
Business seem to be hopping but not if the kitchen can’t keep up.
Good value 3 course plus buzz drink but nothing one could buy off the shelf from the supermarket.
Ok for a quick Italian bite if you are in the area.
Excellent, in heart of Soho, authentic Italian food for young crowd, not overpriced, good, filling, and authentic. Place to go for before cruising in Soho!
