Maybe Frank - Randwick
We are a traditional Italian Woodfire pizzeria as well as a small cocktail bar on Perouse Road in Randwick. Our pizza is made in the traditional Italian way. Our dough is rested between 36 and 72 hours, making the pizza easy to digest with a delectably crispy texture alla romana. The bar at Maybe Frank is our little secret. We are focused on aperitivo and digestive cocktails. Everything is done with a modern Italian twist and all created by our talented bartender: Andrea Gualdi. Our list is constantly changing according to seasonality and provenance. Always using the freshest ingredients, and peculiar Italian liquor that we can find on the market. Maybe Frank is a place for daily-dining, Sunday drinking, and for a little day-dreaming of your next adventure to our beautiful mother land.
.………Eh la madonna!!!
Sunday - 5:00pm till 10:00pm
Every Wednesday $30 any homemade pasta with any signature cocktails
Too noisy for good conversation. The waiters were obtrusive. Hardly had the fork hit the plate than they were trying to snatch plates away.
Always a great night at Maybe Frank, we love our Friday date nights there
We went as a group of 7 for the Tuesday all you can eat pizza. We had a nice table by the window. The staff were friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. Great place for after work catch up.
Yum such delicious pizza and cheese excellent
Great service but very loud. Difficult to have a conversation with music and loud people. Need to fix the acoustics.
Very good Italian pizzas; good service. Staff friendly.
Only area of grief: the music was very loud and it was hard to hear each other
Very noisy, expensive (1 pasta 1 pizza 1/2 wine $90) average Pizza and Pasta (pasta very salt and pizza under cooked)
First greeting not hello or how are you but Do you have a booking !
Food was very nice! Although the waiters were very pushy! Wanting us to order ASAP.
After our meal the bill was placed on the table, not long after we were ask to pay and move to the bar as they needed our table!!!!
To top it off Several tables were available outside but yet they wanted ours.
Not a nice feeling when you leave, especially after leaving over $100 for 2 people and only spending over I hour at the restaurant.
Beautiful food and lovely spot to spend Father's Day with my in-laws. The music was a little loud, making it difficult to participate in conversation. The waiters also rushed us with ordering - not being patient or explaining the menu to my in-laws and seemed annoyed when they were trying to decipher the menu (there were eye rolls at one point). Besides that, lovely spot, beautiful food, would be lovely and intimate for a date night. Would recommend for younger couples rather than larger groups.
My third time, never disappointed.
Lovely staff, always go by their recommendation. One of the best pizza's I've ever had.
Great vibe and intimate atmosphere.
Being in a hospo world I get quite demanding :D ...never at Maybe Frank - will definitely be back xxx
Great food, service was good - they needed the table back but we didn't feel rushed. Would recommend.
Outstanding food, cocktails and service! Had a lovely evening, the waitstaff were amazing, would highly recommend.
Very accommodating. We had a toddler with us and they helped bring him in and out. Helpful staff
We booked and our table wasn’t ready on arrival. The staff were rushed off their feet and the food was average. Expensive as well. Disappointing as the last time we went we loved it!
Considering it was all you can eat pizza Tuesday, the service was superb. We were expecting things to take a while due to it being busy, but no! Our server was there at every moment, just when we needed attention, and our pizzas arrived super quick. From someone who works in hospo I can say for sure that these guys know what they’re doing. Will def be back again..
Quick early Sunday night dinner. Service quick, food good.A bit noisy for good conversation - seated at share table
Love this place. Great food, excellent service, fun atmosphere. Been three times and it's been brilliant each time. Just make sure you book!
Dark and loud venue.
Good service, although rushed 1.5hr sitting)but it was okas we were with child.
Had dinner here with a couple of friends last Friday night. Overall a nice evening with decent food but we felt a bit rushed. There is the policy of two seating sessions; we booked for 6pm and we had to be out by 8pm. Staff are bit pushy getting the order from you asap and then delivering mains when we had barely finished the entree.
Tasty food, made with really fresh ingredients. Service was exceptional. Limited menu, done well.
Was absolutely delicious food, but a little on the pricey side for italian.
Always great value and quality. If I had to pick one downside it would be the noise level. However that also adds to the atmosphere so it’s not a huge deal!
We had a great time and catch up. Wines and service were great as always. Feel like food was missing something that night.
We visit maybe frank every few weeks and never dissapointed!
Good food albeit a bit too expensive. Ask for the waiter to bring the bottle out when ordering a glass as somebody suspected that what was brought out wasn’t what was in the menu.
Cocktails come in very small glasses.
If you don’t like very loud places you may want to avoid this place.
Staff were all very friendly and attentive.
it was a lovely night beside waiting for our food even though the table next got seat 30min after us there got serve first . when we arrive there apologise for the delay and said The meat and cheese board was complementary which we were confuse . when all the meal arrive . I was still waiting for my meat and cheese board . which had already been eaten by the rest of the table. Our reg server sam said it already came out so i couldnt cancel it.
The food was nice however the wine was very expensive.
Overall nice restaurant with good atmosphere. One big flaw, none of the staff were willing to taste/ smell our corked wine saying it was the style of wine. Incorrect. Although Wine was promptly replaced, a little acknowledgment that our taste buds weren’t at fault, but the staffs lack of wine knowledge/ experience was.
We were a family of 4 with a 6.30pm booking. When booking via OpenTable, I was aware that they needed the table back by 8.30pm. We were seated at a shared table with low stools. Every time a waiter passed by they brushed my back as the passage way was clearly not big enough. The noise was unbearable and it was almost impossible to have any conversation across the table. Once our pizza plates had been cleared, the bill instantly appeared indicating it was time to leave. We were not ready to leave as we still had wine and wanted dessert. While the service was friendly, it felt like the main goal was to turn the tables over as quickly as possible. When we left the restaurant, 75mins after walking in the door (well before our allotted time given by OpenTable) there was a new group of people waiting to take our table, for they had a reservation was wanted to be seated.
To sum up - the food was very good. If you want a quick meal without time and space to relax or converse, then Maybe Frank might be for you. It's not for me.
Our 4th time dining at Maybe Frank and this was the first time I was really disappointed.
On previous visits we had great service and the antipasti/cocktails were delicious.
This time, our waiter seemed like he would rather be anywhere else than at work. Also, I decided to try one of their pasta dishes and really regretted it - my gnocchi tasted like mushy, bland white sauce. When the waiter asked how our food was I said “I’ve had some beautiful food here before but tonight I was really disappointed” to which he replied, “excellent, thank you”!
Overall, I really like this restaurant for its cocktails and great atmosphere. Would definitely return but only for drinks/antipasti, not main meals.
More than maybe.... Maybe Frank is the best fricking Pizza in the known universe..... Very good cocktails also....
For a venue that advertises itself as an Italian and expert with pizza, I was disappointed. I ordered ricotta, but the dollops were so big that the whole base was soggy, and there wasn't much else to the toppings so overall there wan't much flavour. It was 2 of us sharing one pizza and we still left 2 slices because it wasn't enjoyable. Started off with the veggie plank, and that was average too. I was expecting fresh and healthy, it was advertised as a selection of the vegetarian options - but it was fried bread, a few carrot sticks, some olives, one small triangle of cheese, a very tasty eggplant ragu, and not much else.
The tables of big groups all seemed to be having a good time, but long tables in a room that echoes - it gets very loud. The drinks were very good and the service was attentive without being over the top.
Quite noisy inside. Expensive too. Especially the wine.
Great wine list and fresh pizza!
Ambiance in the evening is fun and just what Randwick needs!
Delicious pizza, friendly staff and a fun atmosphere. However cocktail service was very slow, the first round of drinks arrived after we had already had started our mains and the second round took another 20 minutes to be made.
Excellent pizza and great service! Our favourite local to go out for dinner.
My wife and I had dinner at Maybe Frank for Valentines Day, this was our first visit to this Restaurant and we really loved it. We will def be back in the near future.
This was my second visit to Maybe Frank , the service is great, we went for a casual pizza after a movie. The food the first visit was great we had a couple of small plates and a pizza beautiful, this most recent visit the pizza was burnt I was so disappointed after the great experience the first time
Amazing service, with staff going above & beyond to check we were comfortable and everything was OK. It was more than ok ...the food is delicious and served in a great location. I will definetely return again & again!
