Maxie's serves regional Southern cuisine from across the American South, including Cajun, Creole, and Carolina Low Country inspirations. Walking into Maxie's has been described as walking into a party in full swing — a boisterous, casual dining experience with an up-beat, lively feel to it. We serve craft cocktails, classic Southern cocktails, and local craft beer. We're conveniently located in the center of the Milwaukee metro area, right off I-94 and just south of Blue Mound Road.

Maxie's is home to Milwaukee's Happiest Happy Hour from 4-6 p.m., when Fresh-Shucked Oysters are just $1 and drinks are a Buck Off! Our BBQ spans from Eastern North Carolina, to East Texas Brisket, and St. Louis-Style Spare Ribs. We were seated promptly on a busy day. So huge thank you. We didn't realize there was a big derby party that day and a special, shortened, menu. So that was a bit of a bummer since some of our favorites were not available. Otherwise, great food and service. Thank you!

We had a friend’s get together and celebration. Our food was delicious! Most of had the trout along with some sides. All very good. Our server, Lauren, was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly and patient with our chatty group. The partitions upstairs seemed to help with acoustics and created a cozy atmosphere, which was a nice surprise. We’ll be back!

Food was very good, if I'm ever in the mood for southern style food this is my new go-to place. The drinks were great as well. Cornbread for the table was a huge bonus we weren't expecting and would go back just for that.

Not great. Sat is at the wrong type of table. My wife’s food wasn’t hot. Server wasn’t very attentive. Always had been a pretty great place. This time it really fell short. We’ll give it another shot, but it will be awhile.

We had a great meal on a Monday night when most restaurants aren't open. Everything was well done. Since the restaurant was crowded it did get a bit noisy, but that was the only concern.

The ambiance is the cutest little southern restaurant. I love the chandeliers and red theme. The food was AMAZING. Though if you are going to order the jambalaya, make sure you are hungry because it is a lot of food but SO worth it . Definitely coming back!

Mary was our waitress she was nice and friendly. We forgot to tell her we needed separate checks, as some people have cash and the rest cards, and she was very nice about taking care of this for us. Food was wonderful all around.

We have been here before but left this time unsatisfied. The pulled pork had a weird metal aftertaste (more then 1 persons opinion) and very vinegary. My ribs came cool, fries were warmer. Reservation was 830pm. They close at 9. Didnt see waitress from about 8:50 until she brought food at 9:15. Im thinking it was sitting there and waiting. Mac N Cheese amazing as always. Ran out of fish for fish fries (this is actually what we came for)

What happened?!! The Nola oysters we’re scrawny and basically cheese in a shell. The collard greens and Mac and cheese were cold. The overall quality of food served was not what we were used to in our past experiences. This is so unfortunate.

Food was tasty, drinks were too. We attended a whiskey dinner so it was a preselected menu with drink pairings. The service left a lot to be desired. Not enough appetizers for all. Servers seemed to know people at a select few tables and ignored others. It was really hard to hear the speaker because we were seated behind a room divider and the speaker did not use a mic. It was an expensive experience and I wouldn’t do it again to due poor service. Would definitely return for the good food in a regular dine in way.

First time here and it didn't disappoint. Frogmore Stew was delicious and my in-laws loved the catfish and Friday fish fry. Oysters were good as well. Had two jalapeno margaritas.

Outstanding service. Food is allllways great! The grits are to die for with the Tasso sauce. And the bbq shrimp app is the best I’ve ever eaten. Can’t wait to be back. THANK YOU!
