Matilda Bay Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Menus and exceptional location maintain a quality tradition.
I have never understood the relatively recent introduction of bowls for courses other than soups, vichyssoise or similar. The bowls are very lovely at Matilda Bay. It doesn't make them any more practical. Having to raise one's elbows to negotiate a course that requires the use of a knife is bad design for purpose. This is just one good reason why the plate was invented. Didn't work for the entré or main. Stylish doesn't mean stupid.
This visit was a little disappointing when compared to previous visits to Matilda Bay. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived for lunch at 12.30 so the usual atmosphere was lacking. Their 2 course lunch deal wasn't available so we ordered share plates from the entree selections. The food was good but 2 of the dishes were served lukewarm. Service was efficient and friendly. Hopefully it was just an "off" day because I love the setting and usually would rate the food very highly.
Service was excellent, unfortunately the barramndi was mush, there was corriander in the asian slaw which wasn't in the description. Having said that the chicken was very good. The views of Perth city are poor due the boats and masts. The signage to the car park is pathetic,i drove around 3 times befor seeing the sign.
We had the set menu as there was more than one dish in each section that we could have ordered. My husband and I choose different entrees and different main meals. All dished were well presented and very tasty. Tony, our waiter, was friendly and efficient and the courses were served with just the correct amount of time in between. The ‘Happy Birthday’ message written in chocolate was a nice touch as we were both celebrating our birthdays. Many thanks.
From the moment we walked in the waiters were so friendly and knowledgeable. The food was so fast and just excellent. There was not a single aspect of the meal I didn't thoroughly enjoy. We even saw dolphins right outside the window - with the waiter giving us plenty of first hand stories about them being regular guests outside the restaurant.
100% cannot wait to come back, this will be a regular date night!
I can't speak high enough on how much I enjoyed my evening.
Matilda Bay has always been a favourite, but we think last night's menu was fabulous.
The Birthday Boy enjoyed his steak done his way and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2
courses of entree, the Squid and Prawn followed by the Mushroom Tart. Both entrees were very
substantial in size. Our choice of the Shaw and Smith SB was a top drop, as usual.
Thank you Matilda Bay for making the Birthday Celebration most memorable.
Until next time......
The food was very poor and way overpriced.
The ceviche clearly was served straight out of a large bowl of prepared fis as it arrived about a minute after we ordered it. It had no flavor of a true ceviche.
My wife and I both had the seafood pasta. The pasta was over cooked, there were a few token bit of over cooked seafood and no sauce whatsoever
It was an absolutely lovely experience from the moment we got there. The staff were attentive and helpful, the full vegan menu was great and the food was amazing (even my non vegan friends tried this and loved it), and we got to see a dolphin swimming past. A magical luncheon experience, thank you so much.
The food standard was exceptional with the freshest oysters served on a bed of ice with a variety of dressings in mini bottles. Perfectly executed salmon with Asian salad & the service was cheerful and prompt. The view is one of the most scenic in WA. A must go-to!
Have been going here for a number of years and it is its consistency, that always ticks the box. Seems to be creeping up price wise but the food, wines and service staff deliver the goods. Excellent lunchtime venue for personal or business occasions with 1st class group facilities.
Matilda Bay Restaurant is our long time favourite restaurant in Perth. We have been dining here ever since it opened and have always been delighted with the whole dining experience.
We have also had two special functions here which have been organised and managed with professional and personal style and efficiency.
It's not cheap but the prices are reflected in high quality in all areas and attention to detail.
It is perfect for that special occasion when you want everything to be outstanding.
The ambiance of Matilda Bay Restaurant located on the Swan river was perfect for celebrating a special birthday. The food definitely met expectations and the Tuna and king fish ceviche was delicious. The Lamb was cooked to perfection making the whole meal enjoyable. Staff were attentive and friendly making us feel very welcome. The addition of a small cake with a chocolate "Happy Birthday" inscription for my husband was a fantastic ending to our lunch.
I was disappointed at the quality of the food and quality of service. I went for my 3 year anniversary and was served tough hard supposedly waygu steak while the misus got lamb which was served with sour cream and tasted weird. Then when i complained and wanted to leave even without finishing the meal they complained about how i must be wrong.
Four of us had Sunday lunch, we'd pre-booked and the table was ready when we arrived. We sat adjacent to the window and had a good view over the bay and marina. Service was attentive, not overly intrusive, and meals arrived promptly. The quality of the food was good and servings were reasonable. We had main meals only for the three adults and the kid's menu for my son, with soft drinks the total bill was just under $200. For a special occasion this was OK, if a bit pricey.
I have a son who is a chef and understand fine dining prices yours were a little over the top for food & drinks. The meats with the sticks were uneatable and tuna dish the white bits also. Staff were attentive but not over friendly and not many excuse me's when reaching over you. The company, the setting and most of the food was lovely but not something I would rave about. I had been to a fine dinning place the weekend before and was raving about that.Probably won't see us for awhile.
Fantastic service in a beautiful location overlooking the Swan River with views of the marina and city lights in the background. Mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and we were given a table at the window with uninterrupted views. Food was exceptional, perfectly cooked and fabulous flavours. Extensive wine list.
