Nice dinner and and breakfast each morning. Friendly staff and great service. Special thanks to Lucas for organising with the chef a nice chicken meal for my wife as she is a plain eater.
We will be back again next year for another anniversary
We were in-house guests and, based on other reviews, thought the food would be good, but it was better than good - we were really impressed. NB the menu choices were a little different from their website. The Blackened Salmon was amazing and Belgian chocolate tart - wow. My partner was very happy with his Lamb Fillet plus Orange & Date pudding. Reasonable wine list and of course their own range of craft beers.
We had already been to all the other breweries in the region the day before and by comparison Matilda bay was a great disappointment. Beers were all very commercial and comparatively bland by local standards. Having said this our meal was first rate and the staff were great.
It was a pleasant experience. I would recommend dining at the restaurant because the food was really tasty.
Was very busy Saturday evening but luckily had booked ahead. Service was excellent by all staff and fast considering it was a full house. Food and wine top notch and cooked to a very high standard and quality. Well priced set menu.
Set menu for dinner, quiet pricey for what you get considering it’s not fine dinning. I ordered the lamb rack and although the lamb itself was nice they wasn’t much served with it had 3 beans and 2 small pieces of potato. However the other that ordered the steak and salmon were not impressed at all.
Majority of the waiters were lovely but there was a selected few that had extremely bad body order and they happened to be the ones that brought out the food which is not a nice combination.
I would go back during the day when there is more menu choice and more of a pub style feel.
I remember last time i was there the foods was outstanding,so why we come back. But this time not so good and leak of seasonings. Definitely not come back again
Great food , location and service. Will definitely go back.
You are forced to order at least 2 courses. Your minimum spend is $55pp for food only.
Really delicious food, especially the gnocchi. Nice beer and wine and the two and three course options were superb.
Overall, very average but a good humble spot for an average lunch. Nothing special but rustic, countryside feels. I tried prawn chilli pizza - would give it 4/5, husband tried fish and chips and that was not too nice - fish too big and batter too thin. Loved it for the beer selection though!
The dinner was very very nice. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Due to COVID-19 we sat far apart, which made the ambience very nice. Breakfast was also very nice,
This was the perfect place to have lunch in the middle of a day out in the vines wine tasting. Line the stomach with some top notch pub grub, grab a tasting paddle and soak up the good vibes.
It was ok my sirloin wasn’t as good as expected however my husbands lamb was amazing. Didn’t think that the food was up to the value that they charge
Beautiful food, service was great.
Little bit pricey for the portions received but overall positive experience
Nice ambient and casual environment
Great food and drinks
I was really looking forward to my time at Matilda Bay and it was a huge let down. I love their beers and I thought I’d have a wonderful experience but straight away after getting out of the car you could tell that the place needs to be refurbished. It was run down and, although the staff were nice, Matilda Bay obviously don’t care too much for their brew house as a tourist destination. Their logo made me think there would be amazing copper vats and just a well presented place and it was anything but that. This is not a reflection of the staff, the company needs to step up their game
QR CODE menu confusing with as everything shown as “sold out,” Especially as had to order at bar anyway. Process could be clearer if explanation that was just electronic menu for choice only not for ordering.
We dined in this dining room for both breakfast and dinner on 2 occasions. The meals were well up to standard. At dinner on the first night Abby's service was fabulous. Abby was a very cheerful, helpful and engaging young lady and was the best staff member we encountered during dinner. At breakfast time Chris was a standout. She expertly managed the room and and was engaging and interested in the her guests. We would definitely utilise this facility again if staying at the Hunter Resort.
Great food and service- thanks guys!
Great service, your staff gave us another table out of the direct sunlight.
Food expensive and ordinary. Service was quite poor.
Service poor, drinks too expensive, outdoor sitting ok, but nil ambience. Food pizzas were good, fish and chips oily.
Not a very nice atmosphere for breakfast but the food was good
Over priced, food was nothing special. Old place. Waited for our entree, then they realised they are closing soon and ask us what we’re waiting for. When the entree arrived and was finished they ask us if we wanted our main straight away.
During Covid, Matilda Bay Brewhouse, like most other restaurants, had to issue set times. We rang to say we were going to be late, however, they kindly rearranged things to allow us to fulfil our booking.
The service was excellent and the food mouthwatering. We were very glad we visited.
Nice setting especially in summer when sitting outside. I had the gnocchi which were overpriced for serving size and lacked taste. Cracked pepper comes is paper bags.
Barramundi was nice, but needed extra salt.
Salt and pepper squid entree came with fries which we didn’t expect. Would have preferred extra squid rather than fries.
There are many better restaurants to choose from in the Hunter. If you’re there for the beer And an average pub meal, then it’s ok, just don’t expect much from the food.
Great location set on lovely grounds, great food, drinks , fast service and good value.
Service was fantastic! Limited menu but the food looked and tasted good. They were knowledgable about food allergy and could easily accomodate one guest with multiple food allergies. Although the dining area looks dated the place was clean. Overall a great experience!
2 nights spent by 2 Adults. Lovely clean room. View and aspect of room great. We say kangaroos and hot air balloons.
Dinner on both nights very pleasant along with staff especially Abbey.
Breakfast Friday morning a little disappointing.
Reception staff very obliging and helpful with a piece of property left behind.
Foor was great. Will be back for the fish and chips - cooked to perfection! Thank you
We loved the food but the night we were there the service was all over the shop. The staff individually were friendly and polite but there was a lack of co-ordination that meant that we sat with our dinner plates uncleared for over twenty minutes and had to ask questions about service and procedures on several occasions. COVID procedures may have been a factor - perhaps some staff were absent that night? But really, the service detracted from what should have been a great experience.
Very enjoyable with beautiful food and wonderful service
Great food, great wine ,great company. Well organised in these Covid times.
Terrible food. Not one dish that came out was satisfying and for the price it was quite an insult.
To be honest, it was pretty disappointing. For a pretty expensive meal the food was good but nothing to rave about. The beer tasting was good value, but I wouldn't go back.
The Chef was extremely accommodating and catered to all of my strict dietary requirements. The food and drink service was quick and everything tasted amazing. The only thing was the portion sizes for the rest of my table was a little small for what we were paying.
we were staying at the resort and had booked breakfast Monday morning . We waited 10 min to be seated and once seated waited 20 min before leaving . It was clearly under staffed as the one waitress on had overlooked us and we hadn’t even been offered water or coffees . We had eaten the night before and had great service but unfortunately not in the morning
Breakfast food and service was good. Covid safe environment good clean
