Mastro's Steakhouse - Chicago
We were absolutely blown away by our entire experience. Amanda was our server, and she was perfect! She was informative, knowledgeable, funny, and helped our 11 person group get all of our food and out the door in time to see Hamilton. The food was delicious, the support staff was wonderful, and it was so cool how we had people circling the table with the sides so that we didn't have to pass them around ourselves. This was the perfect experience and meal - thank you!!
Everything was great!
The service was excellent and the food very good. Out of three well-known steakhouses I have been to this summer, this rates #3. Resting on its old laurels it seems.
Very nice place. My husband and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and music but most importantly the service. Our waiter was excellent. We will be returning soon.
My first time there and I absolutely loved it and would definitely visit again.
Wonderful evening with my boyfriend. Miguel, our server was very helpful and recommended a fabulous bottle of wine. We were also pleasantly surprised that the bar area had live music so we requested to sit in that room closer to the music. Being a Monday evening, there was not a lot of folks eating which made it great for us since it felt like we had the room all to ourselves. The food was on par for a quality Chicago steak house.
Jeff is the man!!! He is an asset to Mastros.
I've been to many restaurants around the globe and he is one of the best. Jeff thank you for your service!
Our evening at Mastro’s couldn’t have been more complete without the service we received from Lauren.
Lauren’s demeanor and attention speaks highly of Mastro’s commitment to its customers.
Thank you, Mastro’s, for employing such high caliber individual.
Gil & Laura Perez
The worst service I have ever received at a steakhouse. Also found hairs in both the entree and dessert.
We did! It’s now there favorite Steak House as well!
Unlike our last visit , the food this time was really quite fair. The steaks weren't as tasty and the sea bass was overcooked. The lobster mashed potatoes were soupy and shouldn't be served if they can't make it like they used to. I was surprised that the roasted brussel sprouts were without any seasoning and neither were the snap peas. The restaurant was half empty, which was surprising for a Saturday at 7:30 pm, but it was a holiday weekend. Mastro's did not have the overall quality that it had or should have. Sorry.
Wish I could do better reviews. My server got the order wrong, and then at the end of the night was nowhere to be found. We would have ordered dessert, but he was literally nowhere to be found.
Excellent dinner with exceptional food and service. Always perfect and my favorite dining experience!
Our waiter Kyle was exceptional! He was there before you knew you needed something, professional, friendly, but not intrusive.
Mastro’s was indeed an elevated dining experience. From start to finish everything was top notch including the service and food. We celebrated a birthday and it couldn’t have been a better choice. The best part of the evening was the live music in the lounge. The gal singing was phenomenal. Will be back for the butter cake!
This place is great - the live music was easily something I was able to vibe to. The musicians were extremely talented.
Bone in filet was phenomenal!
Fantastic dining experience. Lounge was casual and comfortable, service was perfect - attentive, but not overwhelming in that you always had what you needed when you needed it but not feeling interrupted - food was excellent and live music was very nice - good selection of genre and volume was just right.
The service was awesome & food delicious ! Our waiter Jeff made my husband’s & I anniversary feel special .
We had an amazing dinner. This is our go-to for super special occasions. It’s expensive and will run you a few hundred, but because it doesn’t disappoint we continue to go back for that extra special occasion. We had the marrow, wedge salad, lobster Mac n cheese, mushrooms; I did bone in rib eye and husband did NY strip and was all amazing! Love love love this place!
already recommended to co-workers, friends and family. I had a great experience and will absolutely be back
Had a great time. Our server was outstanding and the food was excellent. The Hostess Cheri made sure our special event was perfect and memorable.
We came in first the first time last Friday. The food was amazing fresh and cooked exactly to order. Our waiter Jeff was extremely knowledgeable had several suggestions had in depth knowledge of the entire menu drink, food, and dessert. He was entertaining and really kind to us throughout the night. Other than the music being extremely loud that night it was by far an experience I wont forget!
The food was good.
The service was exceptional.
The experience was unforgettable.
Jeff, our server, was the pinnacle.
As we began the evening, our party of 6 noticed and appreciated the musical group selected for that evening. They had a great sound and kept up a nice tempo; we all admired the female vocalist several times. Our server, Robby, and his back up staff were tremendous. Met all of our needs in a timely fashion and were apt to be available without notice. Very thoughtful and great attitude. Robby was charming and considerate and we enjoyed his presence. All of our meals were tasty and filling; my well done steak absolutely perfect. We were all very satisfied. Thanks for a great night!
This is a place of BIG steaks. Not great food, however. I ordered the tomato and onion salad. The beefsteak tomato slices were cold. Any chef knows that tomatoes loose flavor when chilled. The onion slice was too thick and included the stem of the onion. Far too hot to enjoy and hard to cut. The prices were high (not shocking) but too high for the value.
The waiter was very attentive and the room dark but well decorated.
I will not be returning to Mastro's.
Incredibly snooty, VERY dark, and uber expensive, even for a business dinner. The medium-rare ordered steak came out so rare that it was cold to the taste and the additional heat didn’t improve the flavor.
So many other great steak places in Chicago that you can easily skip this one.
I feel like when I make a reservation, I should be seated at said time, especially if the restaurant is mostly empty. I had 8pm reservations and wasn’t seated until 8:20. We were sat upstairs with an 8 top circle (so it’s not like they had to push tables together) and were the only ones in the semi private dining room aside from one other family. We stayed until closing and no one else sat up there... so why did we have to wait 20 minutes to be seated? While the waiter was great, the hostess was not. I also had to send my steak back to be cooked longer. I asked for medium well and definitely had blood on my plate. I get much better service in all aspects at the Mastros in Beverly Hills & in Vegas. I’ll send my friends to those locations instead. *Shrug*.
Made a reservation for 7p on Father’s Day. Sat at the bar until 7p arrived. Taken to our seats which had plenty elbow room. Lobster bisque was the best I ever had. I was really done after that. I then ordered a 6 ounce filet with the creamed corn and potatoes. Everything including our waitress was incredible. Portion sizes could be shared with 4 people. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it.
Food was 10 out of 10. Eat the food, it is good. If the food was not good I would not tell you. Then you would eat it and it wouldn’t be good.
I took my husband here for his birthday. The food and drinks were great!
What an experience! The Wagyu Tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection, the Oysters (our first time trying them ever) were amazing, and the Lobster was beyond fresh. The butter cake was by far the best dessert I’ve had in some time at any restaurant. Overall, it’s a must try in my opinion.
Overall a very lovely dinner and experience. Only minor disappointment was the lobster bisque....great flavor, but not a sliver of lobster was found in the bisque. Steak was scrumptious...seafood tower with shrimp, claws, etc...delectable. Ambiance and service were great.
I was excited to take take my girlfriend to Mastro’s for a special occasion and we were looking forward to a wonderful meal. However as soon as we were seemingly carelessly seated in the lounge area to eat, I was disturbed by a relatively large shard of glass that I almost cut my hand on. I informed my waiter, who walked up shortly after my realization, and he quickly moved us one table over to start the process of taking our order. My date was quite offended and wanted to leave but I did not want to ruin our night so I begged her to stay and enjoy the meal. We did enjoy our food and the waiter gave great service but it was hard for us to hear each other speak in at our table and my date was pretty uncomfortable from the Rocky start to our night. I would’ve hoped for a much better experience and I hope it is much better if I choose to dine at Mastro’s in the future.
Omar was a delight!!!! Really nice atmosphere, and great food!
My server Nikki continually pressed me in an attempt to make me buy food. It made me extremely uncomfortable and frustrated. I tipped her 20% because that's the right thing to do, but she ruined my dining experience. She was no where to be found when I needed her but whenever she wasn't needed, she was by my side telling me I should get a dessert or a drink.
The place was great. Food was great. The only person ruining my experience was my server.
It was a close friends birthday and I wanted to make sure she enjoyed herself. I wanted to make sure she smiled because she has never enjoyed her birthday because she doesn’t celebrate it. But, I wanted to show her something different. Show her how she should be treated. The ambiance was amazing. The live artist performance was amazing. The staff made you feel appreciated and of course the food was impeccable. We enjoyed every bit of it. They brought her out a bday cake dish and it was great. It’s on the pricey side, but everything in there was worth the money spent. I will definitely be back!!!
The front of the house was rude and disorganized when we arrived. We went on a Sunday evening at 7:15. There were
Many open tables and they made us wait about 10 minutes
While they played around with the computers as if they
Did not know where to seat us. No apologies, just
Rudeness including from the Manager. Very disappointing.
Excellent service. Surprisingly small steak when someone ordered the small fillet...didn’t look good on a large dinner size plate. Everything else was very delicious tasting and looking!
We went there for my sisters Birthday the food was good. They give you a lot of food that you can share. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was so COLD!!!! We really couldn’t enjoy ourselves because we was so cold. Next time I will have to bring a jacket.
