By always keeping the restaurants under the family umbrella, Michael Tassis has been introduced to the hospitality industry from a young age allowing him to become a successful restauranteur in Brisbane.
Michael’s next venture, Massimo Restaurant & Bar, is a contemporary new concept aiming to impress in a true Italian style. Massimo Restaurant & Bar’s Head Chef Davide is from the Abruzzo region on the east coast of Italy. Davide’s passion and dedication to the culinary arts are the bench mark of the Massimo kitchen. Offering spectacular Italian cuisine matched only by exquisite service and beautiful river views.
Comfortable, immaculate and well presented restaurant. Spectacular food, so delicious and great value. Fantastic location and service was superb. Cannot wait to go back, everyone left happy, well fed and relaxed.
Staff very friendly and I had the steak which was perfectly cooked. Great atmosphere, good value and great food.
We dined right at the front of the restaurant in full view of the Storey Bridge. Whilst we chose a simple meal it was well prepared and came with nice sides. The waiter was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We chose wine by the glass and both types were good. Pleasantly surprised by the pricing, very reasonable for the quality and ambience. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Brisbane waterfront.

Stifling hot and the 'outdoor air con' didn't work. Maybe some fans circulating would have been good
Food was overpriced eg $25 for 2 prawns (that's it, nothing else on the plate) seemed ridiculous
Entree of calamari was lovely. The scollops over cooked on the grill. The veal was dry and tough. They they cooke another for my partner but the second one came out the same and she could not eat it. They gave a complimentary deseart but unfortunately parfait icecream had to many ice crystals. The lamb shoulder was lovely. Unfortunately it was a poor experience for our first visit to Massimo. Satff were great though
My husband and I went to Massimo on a date and had a great time! The food (highly recommend the cioppino) and drinks were delicious, generous and very more-ish. We found the staff to be very friendly and attentive. Wouldn’t fault the experience and I look forward to returning to Massimo soon!
This was my third visit to Massimo and unfortunately was very disappointing. The food was fine, and at the beginning of our seating the service was consistent, however after our entrees things went downhill. The waiter dropped our entree bowl upside down on my lap and, while apologetic, I had to chase up the soda he’d promised to deliver to help me with the stain on my dress. Our water wasn’t topped up, we were never offered more drinks, and though I was checked on regarding the stain, we weren’t offered any kind of recompense. As we were exiting the waiter made a half-hearted offer of some dessert wine—but given we already were on our way to exit, was a bit too little too late. Disappointing as our visit was for a special occasion.
Barmundi was very dry service just okay yet Resturaunt was nearly empty

Our table for four all chose the multi course option which was both delicious and good value for money. A good variety on the menu meant that we could choose from a number of seafood options as well as more traditional offerings. The panacotta was a stand out. If a special occasion I would request the seating closest to the bridge as some views are obstructed (it didn’t worry us though)
Service overall was really good. Food was amazing and we had some cocktails before dinner that were really good. However, when we arrived to the restaurant, the hostess/floor manager was in a bad mood or something and it seemed as she wasn’t very happy to see us and ask her if it was ok to have our table a little earlier than the booking time. She was actually rude to us. This situation could have easily been handled by asking us to sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited for our table to be ready (which was what we had thought we would do if the table wasn’t ready yet because we knew we were coming in earlier than our booking time). If it hadn’t been for that terrible experience at the arrival, it would have been a 5 star Christmas Eve dinner. Good thing the service provided by barman, waiter and food runners were outstanding! Which made our experience better.
We were a party of 8 (6 adults and 2 children) and had a pleasant evening at Massimo's. We have two recommendations for improvement in the menu:
1) The dish with prawns and sand crab was disappointing. For $31 we think you could do better than provide only ONE prawn! You need at least 4 prawns in the dish, and the sand crab should be more prominent and not so overwhelmed by the tomato sauce.
2) The barramundi was quite good, but a little overcooked. The feta in it could have been more prominent, and the charred vegetables need improvement (the aubergine was bitter. Try roast pumpkin, sweet potato and broccoli with the zucchini).
The snapper and deep fried zucchini were good. The desserts were very good, especially the chocolate cake. Service was good.
Overall, the evening was nice, but these improvements in the cuisine would make it outstanding.

Absolutely loved the service and ambience, combined with great food, Massimo is wonderful and we will all be returning.
I love the interior of Massimo.. this time we sat in a booth. The food was nice and the service good. One small criticism however was the music. I think it was too loud and the wrong style of music for this restaurant. Our party of four struggled with conversation over the white noise that would have been better suited to a bar.
This is my second time at Massimo in two weeks and once again it didn’t disappoint! I had the swordfish and it was the best I’ve ever had! My friend had the prawns and she said they were amazing! Thank you!

This was my second visit and the food was superb on both occasions. Service was a little slow the last time (about an hour from order to service) when the restaurant was not fully booked.
On a very hot Brisbane Sunday I was so pleased to arrive and find that even though this is an open air restaurant they were pumping out the air con making all their customers comfortable. A first I think for Brisbane.... thank you.

We had 4 kids and the staff were so kind and lovely.
Especially the girl that greeted us.. I am sorry, I can’t remember her name.. she said she had been there 7 months and loved it. She was so amazing with the kids and really made our night!

I took my mother out for dinner for her belated birthday and from the moment we stepped in to Massimo, we enjoyed great service and great food! Such a wonderful evening and we will definitely be back!

Fish wrapped in prosciutto was very, very dry.
Overall we had a lovely night. The food was excellent with a good range of alcohol. The atmosphere was nice, however the waiter was quite abrasive and unpleasant. He actually threw a napkin across the table at one of our party. Additionally, he got quite angry at the start of the visit when we were waiting on another guest and this was mentioned to him as he was filling up the glasses of water. He replied "I know" in a very stern tone. Apart from this, it was a nice experience and it won't stop us from coming back.
The $45 three course option was outstanding 👍 the flounder was hanging off the plate and cooked to perfection. I had grilled octopus which melted in your mouth followed by bbq grilled prawns ,, mmm mmm
We shared the panacotta desert and by nights end had eaten our fill 😋 $300 of which $100 was on wine is great value for great food with great service ! ,, we will be back and sooner rather than later 🙏
I went to Massimo for a dinner with a friend and everything was above and beyond expectations! The ambience is very modern and stylish, the view is beautiful by the river facing the bridge, good service but most of all... the food was divine! I highly recommend the mix seafood carpaccio, the pasta with pippies and pistacchio and the cornetto to finish off with a unique dessert. Everything was perfect and the best thing is that if you go before 18:30 you can enjoy a discounted menu which is great considering otherwise it would be quiet dear. My new fav spot in Brisbane

Everything was five star! The only thing I would suggest would be that it could have been a little cooler but than that I was overly satisfied and have already recommended to many friends and family!

The service was appalling. I had to call the waiter over to order wine after trying to attract his attention seberal times when he was at tables near us
I ordered the Bistecca whjch was wuite grissly, not very tender and only luke warm on arrival.
I took a long time for our plates to be cleared even though the restaurant was quite empty by this time and we were asked if we wanted dessert or coffee about 30 minutes after we had finished our meals.
Great Staff. Food was fantastic, my main was very big, could not finish it.
Everything was great and my overseas visitors were suitably impressed.
The atmosphere is fantastic, though not for the hard of hearing. We had a pleasant waiter, took a while to get the drinks menu though. Wine and meals weren't exorbitant. None of us enjoyed our meals though - 2 of us had the prawn and crab pasta, if it weren't for the one prawn on top you wouldn't have known it even had seafood in it! The other chose the fish wrapped in prosciutto but the latter understandably overpowered the fish. Will give another go and pick different meals but wouldn't rush back straight away.
