I was very much looking forward to my experience at Marcus, and while the atmosphere was lovely, the food was okay and the service left a great deal to be desired. After asking me why kind of water I would like, our waiter poured water for my male counterpart, but not for me. All of the attention at our table was to the male guest. I was not impressed and will not return.
The food at Marcus is always amazing and the ambiance is great. The last time we went was on a sunday at 2:30pm and service was actually disappointing. I don't know if it was because the restaurant was closing at 3pm and the was a change of shift in waiters. However, they should then refrain from booking reservations at 2:30pm to avoid having such a spotty service. I had booked to celebrate my husband's birthday. The waitress disappeared a few times during our brunch so we had to ask multiple waiters for different things. As we finished our food, our waitress never came back and no other server came by to check on us...I had to get up to find someone and ask if they could bring some candles in a cake for my husband. They basically took the same small desserts that were on the dessert table and put candles, which was not great. We were told our waitress had to go cover an emergency. We completely understand things come up but communication is key...she could've come by to share she needed to leave and hand us off to someone else.

We were 8 people celebrating my birthday. Our reservation was 9:00 on Saturday night. They only seated us at 10:00pm. Finally got our food close to 11:00!! The food and drinks were delicious and the ambiance was amazing. Besides the slow service we stayed and danced until 1 am.
Had a great night and would go back.
My overall experience was very nice and the food was good as well. I’ve been there a few times now so I highly recommend this place.

Market price halibut was tender and tasty but over priced at $115.
Drinks were very modest sized for the price.
If you place a high value on being in a hip environment, this may be a good value.

I've been to Marcus before for a friend's birthday and truly enjoyed everything I ordered, from the salad to desert. So, I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary here after a visit to the Museum. My husband enjoyed it as much as I did. Everything was excellent, food was delicious and service was impeccable. The prices are affordable too, especially for a special occasion. Will definitely return and recommend to everyone!!!

My husband and I went to Marcus on the recommendation of a former server who we met while dining in Montreal. We made reservations for brunch. We had the avocado toast and chicken sandwich, but wanted the chicken and waffles, which is only available for parties of 4 as a tower. My chicken sandwich was good, not great, as was the avocado toast. We both would have had an additional mimosa or two, but couldn’t seem to get the attention of our service (note the restaurant was not busy when we arrived at 11). We found a small cafe near our hotel the following morning with better service, food and ambiance. I’m sorry we caved to the star power of Chef Samuelson’s restaurant. I would not recommend it.

the restaurant was beautiful! Service was good, better than most restaurants. good wine selection. i had the halibut which was perfect. some other dishes i wasn't impressed by, such as the watermelon/tomato/ buffalo cheese salad (tomatoes weren't ripe, and not enough cheese. vinegrete wasn't seasoned) the salmon tartar wasn't seasoned enough, missing lime or lemon. the octopus was under seasoned and overly priced. the espresso was bitter and very over priced, a coffee shouldn't/t cost 23$

Lunch is very reasonably priced for food. Drinks are on the expensive side. They need shade covers for the windows. Very uncomfortable for guests sitting facing the windows. Otherwise, the ambiance and service is great.

We found the service lacklustre, there was no attention to special dietary needs at our table, no explanation of what they were serving us, seemed a little too busy to be bothered with us. We ordered the seafood tower and while the quality of the food was what you would expect for this level of dining experience, we were not wowed by any of the sauces or condiments- we’ve had much better seafood experiences at other Montreal establishments.
We also ordered the tomahawk steak with a few extra sides. Again, didn’t find the flavours wowed us, the quality of the food seemed decent but the sweet potato chips were over salted.
Back to the service nobody seemed to care whether we enjoyed our dining experience. A woman came around to check on us but seemed she didn’t even give us a chance to respond as she was in such a hurry to do her mandatory check in with all of the tables.
We wouldn’t rush back, Café Boulud is definitely a step up.
