Marble & Grain
After eating here last year we made a reservation expecting the same level of service and quality of food.
The table was booked for 6pm. The service was terrible, took ages to order just a drink. There were tables sat next to us waiting longer.
The steaks were all ordered medium rare but my husbands came our rare. When we called the lady over she said "wow" and took off with the plate. No apologies. We then saw the chef call the steak guy over and have a go at it being wrong. Then they bought the same steak back with no jus drizzled over it. We then had to complain about that. By the time myself and our daughter had eaten the steak and my husband had to eat his by himself. Really disappointed.
Nice ambience, very nice entree. The main dish was a bit chewy with more fat that I expected. It was a nice experience overall, but I wouldn’t say it was great value.
High steaks, but Marble and Grain will meat even the grazest of expectations!
We enjoyed an antipasto platter and the share the love kilo of lamb and steak tasting platter. The meat was all cooked beautifully and the sides complimented the meat. I definitely left feeling 3kgs heavier but it was worth it!
The steak tasting board is wonderful. Steaks are very tender. Remarkable!
Beautiful steak and sides, cooked to perfection. would recommend other bread be on offer, other than just sourdough. Also the sticky date pudding dessert was way too rich.... think about offering a cheesecake for dessert and you will have our hearts. we come here every year for the steak and you certainly do not let us down in this department.
Excited to check this place out, but it was disappointing. The food was sub-par, my steak was gristly and not a good cut of meat. It came with a grand total of 2 duck fat potato wedges. The service was lovely, but there are better places in Canberra to go for a steak and are better value too.
Yet another great meal with fantastic service at Marble and Grain. We look forward to dining there again soon.
It is a great bar/ restaurant and nice food. The service was lovely.
Such a lovely atmosphere. Not only was the food devine, but the service and the attention to detail was outstanding. Music choice was on point with some light jazz vibes, and the decor gave a fancy yet comfortable feeling. Would definitely recommend!
This is the second time that I've organised a lunchtime related function at Marble & Grain. On both occasions the overall experience was excellent. The food was great, the service excellent, the staff were friendly, engaging and attentive.
I couldn't fault this venue and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marble & Grain very highly.
What a great restaurant with good variety of choices. We needed to alter a choice slightly to ensure gf with no problems. Staff were happy and efficient. Dinner was as good as anticipated and breakfast was a lovely surprise
Food was amazing, however it did feel a little rushed as there was not much time between starter and main course. Quite a popular place, does deserve 5 stars
We had an enjoyable dinner at Marble and Grain. The food was delicious and the staff friendly and great service.
The menu needs to be more clear. I ordered the M&G surf and turf. The menu says beef fillet with a grilled Morton Bay bug. The Morton bay bug came out sautéd in a creamy garlic sauce. I complained as it was not as described on the menu and was told that surf and turf always comes with the bug in a creamy garlic sauce. I returned it and asked for the bug to be grilled. It came out blanched and not grilled at all. Disappointing considering it cost $58
$52 rib eye was tough, was also cold or had been resting too long, sauce was watery, wrong knifes were provided and had to ask staff for proper steak knives, won't be back
Food and wine amazing
Heat in restaurant far to hot
M & G always serves up the best meat in Canberra, along with great Oysters and a wonderful wine list. I wish the door left open so often however, the regular blasts of freezing outside air made the experience less than ideal.
Beautiful service, delicious food and a great environment!
Not bad, but not good either. There are similar offerings with better food for the same price or cheaper nearby. Portions probably too big as well. Our waitress was funny, but also either very inexperienced or just didn't care.
Can’t fault it, good value for money the kids burger was really good and the lamb shoulder for 2 was awesome
My partner and I went to Marble and Grain as a splurge and we were not disappointed! The venue, food, drinks and service were all absolutely amazing!
Great service during dinner; all meals ordered efficiently and served at same time; beautiful, flavoursome food. Irritating we couldn't split bills amongst a group setting.
Mariana was very polite and great customer service. The food was nice too.
Food was good although my steak was medium instead of medium rare. Took quiet some time to bring the drinks (at the same time as the starter). Order two starters and only got one as the waitress "forgot" to write it down even though she made me repeat twice the order. Overall atmosphere was pretty dead - there was just two tables at 9pm and we finished our dinner while the waitresses were cleaning all the tables around, getting them ready for the next day. Just felt like I had to go and didn't enjoy the end of my dinner.
Wouldn't recommend for a late dinner, poor experience.
Wouldn’t be a strong recommendation as the service was ordinary.
Stunning service and good food. Our waiter knew all the food on the menu and gave us good advice in our food choices.
Me and my husband really loved it here, amazing food
Service was terrible. When we arrived we were advised that the kitchen wasn’t working as there was some electrical fault which being addressed and there would be about a 30min wait, we thought that would be ok. We sat down and of course they were happy to take our drink orders while waited but no offer to provide anything while waited and tried to keep hungry kids occupied - not even some bread and butter! Kids ice cream with the meal was a teaspoon size of ice cream, absolutely ridiculous! No offer was made to provide a free drink or anything while we sat and waited for our very very delayed meals in the end. I asked for an entree meal to come out with the mains and it didn’t which meant I ate my meal and then had to wait over an hour by the time other members of my family got their meal and finished. Would not recommend or return to this place.
This is one of our favourite places to eat in Canberra. The food is beautifully prepared and presented. Friendly and helpful service. Highly recommended.
Really enjoyed a very tasty dinner, I must say the butchers board was more than enough for two, actually couldn't finish it lol but everything about M&G was outstanding
It was our first time there. The pork belly was great, very juicy. Scollaps were a little over cooked. The rib eye on bone was very well prepared, juicy and tender. The atmosphere was good, not too noisy, it appeared that all customers were enjoying themselves too.
We had a birthday celebration for my son. All the men loved their steaks, cooked to perfection even for the most discerning. Alternatives on the menu were a hit too: we loved the gnocchi and the lamb shank pie. Starters were consistently good and offered plenty of variety. Even desserts were good! I'd go back again given an appropriate occasion. Service was pleasant and unobtrusive.
Very good. We had the lamb share plate at $85 and really enjoyed it. The only thing I would say though, is that it could have been hotter. The meat was Luke warm but very tasty and falling off the bone.
Really poor service, and very ordinary steak for $38. I ordered rare and the witress advised the chef would suggest medium rare for this cut. I agreed, assuming the chef would know how to best prepare the meat. Very dissapointed when my scotch fillet arrived and was a solid medium. Pale pink centre. Not a hint of rare as i was looking forward to. If you call yourself Marble and Grain, you better know how to cook a steak! Service at the end was a joke when i went to pay. Three waitresses asked me where i was sitting, so clearly noone was paying attention to customers. ANd please, for the love of steak, stop your staff from calling people 'guys'. "ARe you guys ready to order?" "How was your dinner guys?" "Sorry guys" Will not return.
I found the steak chewy. Nothing specifically special about the meal
A tiny bit dated in the furnishings and we were slow to be seated which was odd as the restaurant wasn’t full. However the steak was scrumptious and melting, and the sides were balanced and well presented so overall it was a lovely meal and night. Also on the plus side it was warm and cozy for a fab Canberra winter feel. Will definitely eat here again.
Food and service was good. Tenderloin and scotch fillet steaks were delicious and good to perfection. Greek salad was OK. Visiting from Sydney and thought the prices were a little high.
Overall really lovely, we would recommend highly to friends and family.
Overpriced.....the steak was over cooked and was not eatable. The steak was covered in a sauce and was not mentioned on the menu. Had to ask staff when drinks came for a straw. Honestly just the worst experience ever.
