Marble & Grain
Food very good as always.
Service terrible, for example long long delays in finding a waiter (a lot there but not all of them working); had to get up and ask for menus etc; main plates never cleared and still on table for dessert; very minor issue with eftpos but waiter very rude.
We have been here often for a nice meal, pricey but food and service always good. Based on this experience we won’t be back.
Enjoyable evening with options to suit every member of our party
Very good restaurant but difficult to find a park near it.
The only thing I can really fault about my experience was that both myself and one of my guests both ordered a side of greens. The side would have been enough for two people yet there was no suggestion to only get one to share. I know it's not in your interest to down size an order but there the little things from a customer service aspect that would set you apart.
I loved the industrial style and like the idea of having both a more casual bar setting as well as the table dinning. It was a bucket list restaurant for me before I move from Canberra and it certainly did not disappoint. The Tenderloin was just perfect and the blue cheese sauce was fantastic.
I had the Wagyu beef. I assumed this would be melt in the mouth, unfortunately it wasn't. For $65 I was disappointed.
Having to pay for $9 for cheap greens (beans, snow peas, zucchini) was also disappointing.
I gave my duck fat potato to my date as pretty tasteless.
The chocolate mousse was hard and more like caramel. Tasted weird.
The strawberry bomb Alaska was amazing and I loved it.
I recommend this restaurant, but I doubt whether I'll go back.
Good for a date I suppose.
The food was very high quality. The steak delicious as was the lamb shoulder. The share plates are great.
The service let the restaurant down. Very slow to be served and get the first drinks. Not attentive, though was friendly when we could get someone.
The coffee machine was turned off before closing so couldn’t get a coffee after dinner.
Overall a good place, for the price I would expect much better service.
Food was nice. All four steaks were done to order with no issues.
Service was a wee bit slow and the single glass pour was a little light-3 oz at best.
we caught up with friends had a lovely meal and enjoyed a few cocktails great night out
Food was great and service was outstanding.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Great steaks and a comprehensive, complementary wine list
Great service and amazing food! There was a special $99 three course menu for 2 people (Sunday and a Monday only) which I didn’t know about when I booked but it was fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We were all looked after for my daughter’s 18th birthday. Our waitress was very attentive and very helpful with the cake that we brought along. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Marble & Grain. We’ll be back.
Service was ok, entrees were overpriced, mains were good, dessert was great.
Came to Marble & Grain because I thought it is a higher standard steak dinner, however, as a birthday celebration, not so great. The candle on the cake was not lighted before served, and the staffs didn’t come and celebrate with my partner and I. I found it pretty strange as usually staffs would be the ones that’s singing the birthday song along with the customers as that’s what I have experienced in other restaurants. Overall, my experience was a little bit disappointing.
We loved the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes.
Great customer service, noticed all service was exceptional. Food great as always.
Portion serving was incredibly small compared to others on the night and previous visits.
Very good service and excellent food and a very nice ambience
I was shocked that we had so many issues with a multiple payment option. There were 5 people and we understand you don't split bills so we tried to gather 1 payment. 3 of 5 of us had cash, so we were going to pay cash and the rest in card. This appeared to be difficult and not condoned by the lady at the register taking our payment.
A dampner on the evening as everything else was great
Laura is the best! The steak tasking plate... next level. One question, what is flat iron steak?! Delicious, but a mystery ;)
Great last minute booking. Glad we booked as it appeared busy. Staff were great and food was very good. Scotch fillet was cooked medium rare as ordered. Will be back
Good food, but expected higher level of service from staff. Music too loud and not appropriate, Were not made aware of high fee for public holiday penalty rates. Tables old, scratched, no tablecloth, menus dirty, had to fill my own wine after initial pour, table not cleaned after our plates were empty, did not remove pre dinner empty glasses. We were 10 min early before restaurant opened and asked to sit at bar, waiter did not invite us over to our table when restaurant opened. Waiter not knowledgeable of names of wine served, had to show her on menu. Very disappointed.
Beauitful food and great service! Can't wait to return on my next visit to Canberra.
Some of the best food I’ve had, with a great variety of options available to choose from. It’s a relaxed atmosphere. I look forward to going back.
Meat on the pork ribs was far too tough and chewy. We only enjoyed 2 out of three meals
high end atmosphere with exceptional food and great service! Highly recommended
Great restaurant and food
Good for everyday dining
Great food with great service!
I enjoyed every moments spent there!
Our table ordered a steak and the BBQ Ribs on Friday 20 Sep for dinner. The steak was good (as usual) but the ribs were dry with a tiny serving. $32 was paid for about 100 gm of protein, not very impressive. The sauce smothered on the corn wasn't very nice either. The same dish at Civic Pub has a comparable price but is much more substantial, has decent sauce and is always perfectly cooked.
I don't usually leave M&G hungry and disappointed (especially after spending $94), but this night I did. Good thing Maccas was next door.
After eating here last year we made a reservation expecting the same level of service and quality of food.
The table was booked for 6pm. The service was terrible, took ages to order just a drink. There were tables sat next to us waiting longer.
The steaks were all ordered medium rare but my husbands came our rare. When we called the lady over she said "wow" and took off with the plate. No apologies. We then saw the chef call the steak guy over and have a go at it being wrong. Then they bought the same steak back with no jus drizzled over it. We then had to complain about that. By the time myself and our daughter had eaten the steak and my husband had to eat his by himself. Really disappointed.
Nice ambience, very nice entree. The main dish was a bit chewy with more fat that I expected. It was a nice experience overall, but I wouldn’t say it was great value.
High steaks, but Marble and Grain will meat even the grazest of expectations!
We enjoyed an antipasto platter and the share the love kilo of lamb and steak tasting platter. The meat was all cooked beautifully and the sides complimented the meat. I definitely left feeling 3kgs heavier but it was worth it!
The steak tasting board is wonderful. Steaks are very tender. Remarkable!
Beautiful steak and sides, cooked to perfection. would recommend other bread be on offer, other than just sourdough. Also the sticky date pudding dessert was way too rich.... think about offering a cheesecake for dessert and you will have our hearts. we come here every year for the steak and you certainly do not let us down in this department.
Excited to check this place out, but it was disappointing. The food was sub-par, my steak was gristly and not a good cut of meat. It came with a grand total of 2 duck fat potato wedges. The service was lovely, but there are better places in Canberra to go for a steak and are better value too.
Yet another great meal with fantastic service at Marble and Grain. We look forward to dining there again soon.
It is a great bar/ restaurant and nice food. The service was lovely.
Such a lovely atmosphere. Not only was the food devine, but the service and the attention to detail was outstanding. Music choice was on point with some light jazz vibes, and the decor gave a fancy yet comfortable feeling. Would definitely recommend!
This is the second time that I've organised a lunchtime related function at Marble & Grain. On both occasions the overall experience was excellent. The food was great, the service excellent, the staff were friendly, engaging and attentive.
I couldn't fault this venue and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marble & Grain very highly.
