Marble & Grain
The simple philosophy of Marble & Grain is to look at the classic elements of European Steakhouses and deliver them in a modern form. Created by the award-winning Australian architecture firm, Paul Kelly Designs, Marble & Grain covers two distinct spaces. The first is the bar area, featuring high tables and stools, as well as a row of low tables that take full advantage of the extensive bi-fold windows without blocking the view of those gathered around the beautiful marble bar. Exposed concrete walls create a contrast to soft leather seating while presenting a matte surface that plays off the polished brass highlights within.

Was really looking forward to our meal based on reviews and feedback from others who had visited, but our experience was very underwhelming. The table was not ready at our booked time, the steaks were overcooked for what we requested, it was only at the end of our meal we realised there were separate steak knives available but they were not provided or offered when our meal arrived, and the service was overall substandard.
Always excellent food and good portion sizes across all meals. We got the lunch specials and these were very good value!
Loved our cocktails, our entrees and our mains. As per usual, incredible atmosphere! Thank you!
Great place! Food was fantastic. Highly recommend
Atmosphere & service was amazing ,as were the steaks
The service was very good and the ambience was good. We all ordered steak and a couple of them were not cooked as per their guide. They bordered on the overcooked side. Would we come again probably but would try somewhere else first.
Fantastic food, the ricotta gnocchi was a standout.
We enjoyed or evening at Marble and Grain thoroughly. We had the scallops, arancini balls and bread and olives as entre. All were so good. I love a place that can do the simple things well like delicious bread with smoked butter and marinated olive oil. The scallops were great too.
Probably the best steaks my wife and I have had. Perfectly cooked, to our specified levels. I had the 400g rib eye and my wife had the eye fillet. We had mushroom sauce and blue cheese sauce with our steaks and side of brussel sprouts and beans. Both sauces were so good, though the blue cheese sauce was a little strong for me - I did expect this as I find that often with blue cheese. Again, the simple greens were so good, I think they had truffle oil on them. Really complemented the meal.
The service was as I'd expect and while the prices were on the high side, it's an inner city location and the steaks were VERY good. So worth the extra money over a regular pub meal.
Amazing food, great customer service & even better wine selection!
We dined here on Friday evening. It was a great choice for dinner! The food was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. We had the salt and pepper squid, which was beautiful, and the arancini balls (my favourite!) for entrees. Following this, the 400g Rib Eye and the Gnocchi for mains were cooked to perfection. The gnocchi melted in your mouth and the steak was cooked exactly to our preference. The service was incredibly fast and our waiter was polite and friendly, as well as attentive. Overall, a perfect dinner.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Will come again.
Been here multiple times before covid-19 restrictions were put in place and loved it to bits but this time the experience and food was just...meh.
We compared our entrees (calamari and bread) with a couple sitting close by and seemed to get the short end of the stick as their plate appeared stacked with calamari as for ours was marginally smaller in comparison.
We also ordered the cheesecake for desert and could tell it wasn't freshly made within the past few days and it crumbled apart instead of staying nice and creamy
Excellent service, very attentive. Great steak cooked perfectly
The food and friendly staff made for a great evening after starting with drinks in the bar.
We like to eat here when we visit Canberra as We are always guaranteed a great evening.
In the past, I have enjoyed eating here. This recent experience was below what I expected. The service was slow and not attentive. Parts of the meal were good, but again the standard seemed to have dropped from when we were there in February.
The decor and service is top drawer. The sirloin and blue sauce was perfection. My colleague spoke equally of the tenderloin, and the service was attentive without being obtrusive. If you are after a perfectly cooked and presented steak in Canberra I highly recommend.
Usually my wife and I are never disappointed but this time my steak was served medium well despite requesting it to be cooked medium rare.
We absolutely adore Marble & Grain and we are so glad it is back open after Covid 19. We had some family up for the weekend and M&G is our go to restaurant to take any visitors to and we are yet to hear a bad word about it. I am sure we never will! Can't wait to be back there on Monday!
The place had a warmth feeling and quiet, but saying that restrictions was in place cause of the corona 19 pandemic so limitation of diners. The food was absolutely delicious. And value for money. I will definitely be back when in Canberra again.
Best Sirloin steak I have had in a while -being ex South African that says a lot
Easy to book a table, easy to find. Fast good service, staff were polite, cocktails were great! Food was excellently done and the Steak Tartar was the best I have ever had! All food was amazing.
Extremely poor service. Unfortunately this distracted from the quality of the food,
Good food. Friendly, attentive table service. Great spot. We will be back!
Simple flavours with amazing quality ingredients with great service good location
Always ticks all the boxes. That's why I keep coming back to M & B. Bravo
Very disappointing not acknowledged on arrival. Ordered 2 x fillet mignon got 2 scotch fillet. Didnt want other guest to wait till we got correct order. Steak was fatty not good quality. Ordered rare it was Blue lots of fat griddle. Not worth $79 2 courses ruined my bday dinner. Offered 3 deserts as we complained these were delivered while eating our main still. Sent them away then saw they were left under lights in kitchen servery for half hr. Offered to us again we did not want old cold brulee now.
Told head person young lady not happy with service of meal or quality and cost of poor meal. At first no offer of anything just apology not good enough. She took $50 off we were not prepared to pay $220 for 3 scallops each bit calamari and 2 wrong steaks.
Won't be back or reccommend we work in hospitality you need to improve your service and quality. There was only 6 tables at the time
Set menu was too expensive we had a bar meal instead
Really good lunch menu and excellent service from all staff
It was so wonderful after the last few months, so go out, have great service and enjoy a beautifully cooked steak. And just in time for the boy's birthday!
Covid -19 - Bit weird being essentially the only diners in the restaurant ( 1 other couple nearby), so did lack some ambience but food was delicious and service was attentive
At $ 77 per person, basically it was not value for money for the quality of food offered. Sure it was good, but I've had better.
Steak was not as good as we remember! But otherwise a lovely evening. Good service.
The steak was horrible, everything else was as normal
Only 10 people in the restaurant as per corona but was pretty good! Service could be improved but to be fair they were under a bit of stress and learning since the restrictions were released.
Meals were cooked to perfection with outstanding service.
The food and service was amazing.
The staff were super friendly and helpful.
The food is always fantastic. It can get a little noisy/busy and hard to get the attention of the servers. Great drinks too!
Was really nice, but was full of bogans for some reason - weird atmosphere because of that.
The food was amazing but the atmosphere was loud and annoying. I could hardly hear what my boyfriend was saying. All big groups should be put on one side of the restaurant and couples/groups of 3 should be put on the other side.
The steak melted in our mouths and the service was perfect
