Mannequin Pis was the last restaurant we went to before Covid-19 closed everything. There were only a few people in the restaurant so I'm not sure our experience as to ambiance and service was normal. However the food could not have been much better.
We had a delicious prix fix meal. Once I tasted the salad, I knew we were in for a pleasant evening. The halibut was perfectly done. We don't usually eat dessert, but made an exception for the waffle with fruit N chocolate sauce. It was worth the calories; delicious, sweet, perfect. The wine was also a good selection. All in all a wonderful evening.
Almost identical to the one-off mom and pop restaurants you find in Belgium right down to the seating and music. Food is typical Belgian and wine and beer list large. A great night out and perfect for special occasions. A good choice for a different intimate dining experience.
The service was excellent. All three of us were disappointed in the food, and we left still being hungry.
What a great place! The food was wonderful and the service OUTSTANDING. Our new favorite place!
We enjoyed our visit. It was Friday night and not that busy. Husband had the steak frites and it was cooked well. I had the Wild mushroom mussels. Great flavor and large portion. French fries were just OK. Ambiance was nice with good music.
It was our 2nd time and PERFECT!
Mussels are to die for. Can’t go wrong with any of the many choices. Great selection of beers. Service is excellent.
This is a tiny and lovely boutique dining experience. Level and graciousness of service are ideal.. Fish, vegetarian, and mussels main courses were beautifully presented and delicious. Good Belgian beer selection. Terrific Belgian chocolate deserts, of course. We came directly after the Sunday Olney matinee. In the elegant quiet, we discussed the production enjoyably.
the mussels are always a favorite here although the valentine specials were just that too!
We had the special sorvino and the pork loin, both of which were outstanding. The frisee salads were delicious and loaded with bacon. Also loved the beers and desserts. Will definitely come again.
Such a charming place - cozy ambience. Delicious food - not the typical fare, unusual selection. We enjoyed the European music, played at a comfortable volume - very relaxing and goes so well with the decor/theme. Great selection of Belgian beers. Recommended.
Everything was great but a little too pricey for some of the entrees.
The service was slow the wait staff acknowledged so the offered on complementary wine. Not much but something. The people seated next to us were obnoxious using language suitable for bar in Florida during spring break . Not the restaurant fault entirely but if it were my place ida told them to tone it down. We did say something to them too late the bad vibe was already set....I’d go again cause I know the sausage is good, but not at all on a high traffic day such as Valentine’s Day....
Our first time there, everything was very good. I didn't like paying $6.00 for a bottled water, we were not offered regular water.
We had the rack of lamb and the steak frittes. Both were excellent. The chef is very talented. The service was excellent, and we love the ambiance of this small and cozy restaurant. Great selection of beer, that's for sure!
Homey venue for elegant fish dishes and hot , flavorful mussels. Wait staff is friendly and available!
Food is consistently excellent. Choose any item on the menu and you will enjoy it. Service is excellent. We will definitely be back .
I love steamed mussels and was excited to try this restaurant after their website boasts that they specialize in preparing them. What a complete rip off! There’s barely any meat inside of the mussels. And they tasted no different than any other restaurant. The tables, especially for only two, are so small that things kept falling off of the table. They could barely fit out food on the table.
Skip this place and go to a real authentic seafood restaurant that specializes in quality seafood and gives you your money’s worth.
We are relatively new to Olney and enjoy discovering new places to eat. A work colleague mentioned this restaurant to my husband and we decided to give it a try. We enjoyed our meal! We will definitely be coming back! — thank you!
I would recommend but not in winter. Although we were sitting in middle of dining room, every time front door opened a blast of cold air would come in and make us uncomfortable. Also, I was not please to get a desert menu with no prices.
Best Belgian restaurant in Montgomery county MD. Possibly best in DC metro area. The food is excellent, rich with flavor and the presentation masterful. The portions are more than adequate and the taste superb. The wait staff is purely professional and well versed on the expatiation of the food items. I highly suggest this place as on ones bucket list for good Belgian food.
Much closer and as delicious as restaurants Brussels, Belgium .
Good food, attentive service, enjoyable dinner.
The pork tenderloin was not tender (may not have been tenderloin but rather small chops) but the sauce and
Accompanying potatoes were amazing. The haricot beets were traditional thicker green beans but still delicious.
Mushroom ragout appetizer over Parmesan garlic toast - amazing and on another night could have been dinner with a small salad or soup. Lobster bisque was quite good - not the pieces of lobster as claimed in description though.
We will go back to try other items because the staff was excellent and the general ambiance really nice. Also great selection of wines for the wine special.
We used to consider Mannequin Pi’s a go to restaurant. This most recent visit ruined our opinion of the restaurant. The current owners appear to have bought out the original owners, kept the menu, and have no clue how to cook the food on the menu. The waiter didn’t even know how what cranberry juice was. The potato leek soup and the chicken breast entree were particularly bad.
Mannequin Pis never disappoints! The food is delicious! We had salad and mussels. The bottled beer selection is good. Our server was excellent. He managed to find the perfect balance of being there when we needed him, but not hanging over us. I really enjoy dining here and can’t wait to come back!
It’s a hole in the wall but the food was amazing
One of Olney's few really good and somewhat unique restaurants. The food is always well-prepared and delicious. They know how to do mussels--even if you usually don't care for them you might! The green peppercorn and Pernod sauce is a favorite. Other seafood dishes have also been excellent (can't speak for meat dishes). Preparation is a bit heavy in an "old world" sense--cream, butter, etc. They list a lot of Belgian beers but are usually out of some, it's unpredictable.
The place is small and tight, with a European cafe feel (behind a drab storefront). Over many visits service has been uneven. Sometimes the wait staff seem inexperienced or out of their depth, though always friendly and enthusiastic. In the end the food is served efficiently and you get what you ordered, so it's hard to complain! Dishes are not generally garlic-heavy, but the air is; you'll leave smelling like a kitchen. Sometimes it's worth it.
Service was poor due to too few waiters handling a full house, and the food was uneven, ranging from very good to mediocre. In particular, we found the boudin noir a pale imitation of what you get in Belgium and France. I’d heard good things about this restaurant for years, but was underwhelmed by it in person.
Hearts of Palm salad was pitifully small and dressing tasteless. The beef stew was dry. Sadly, we won't be back.
Excellent food! Great mussels. Very nice ambience.
A surprise night out for my Wife and the food and service were excellent as always.
Fantastic dinner. Love this place!!
A great choice for consistent, great food and service!
We love dining at Mannequin Pis! The ambience is lovely. In fact, it feels like you are dining in Europe. We. especially love their potato leek soup, which is just yummy! And of course, their mussels are fantastic! Overall, one of our very favorite restaurants!
We really enjoy this restaurant. Great mussels - which is what we go for because it is about a half hour from our house. So, as a special trip for mussels you really can't go wrong here.
only if they like mussels. french fries were just ok. meat was too salty.
We were delighted with the restaurant! I searched for restaurants close to Olney Theatre and read the reviews which were excellent. Food was amazing, staff exceptional, warm and cozy atmosphere. Definitely will return!
Consistently good, nice menu options, welcoming staff.
