Malt Shovel Taphouse Adelaide
Great day out excellent food and service we were treated like kings
Friendly and professional staff and fantastic food. Will definitely be coming back...and bringing reinforcements!
I really liked the range of interesting side dishes. Venue is wheelchair-friendly (there are some high tables so let them know what you want when you book)
Was really pleasant - the sides were very generous which I loved, they were also interesting not just chips and salad. We had the rotissaire and all were well fed. I accidently knocked over a glass ( which smashed) and they made no big deal of it. Ill be back
The food and service was good but the sun streaming through the windows made it very uncomfortable. Even changing tables didn’t help. We rushed our meal just to get out of the sun.
Looked after so well. Appreiatd so much the staff changing our table out of the sun. Full marks to them
The restaurant was open and spacious and well laid-out; the service was good and the food very enjoyable.
We loved our night sitting on the deck listening to the music
Everyone wants to return
Great atmosphere and service. I had the salt and pepper tofu Salad. Whilst the salad was nice the tofu itself was very bland, no flavor and bread like. Otherwise enjoyed the night and super convenient for our show at the festival centre afterwards.
Casual , easy dining with a nice atmosphere and good quality food.
Lovely place to grab a quick bite or a few drinks before a show. Slow cooked meats are delicious and the sides are every bit as good. Great selection of beers and cocktails available.
I have been to the Malt Shovel Taphouse on three occasions and have always had great food and service - I recommended it to a bunch of girlfriends who meet for lunch regularly and booked a table with Graydon for Wednesday lunch late last year - I don't recall the date now. We arrived only to find that the venue didn't open on Wednesdays. We have yet to rebook another lunch there but no doubt will sometime soon
it was very disappointing and embarrassing because it was me who made the booking.
It is a very lovely venue and we will definitely be back
We spent NYE here and loved it, so returned to celebrate my partners birthday with family and everyone enjoyed the food and loved the location
Unbeatable location, great music by James Killian, great food and service. Have been a few times, will be back again
Limited food very expensive
Whilst the food was really delicious and innovative, the service was what made the experience even better. Friendly and efficient yet unobtrusive. Perfect setting on a glorious day.
excellent location for pre show dinner
wait service efficient with great recommedations
wait staff friendly and helpful
Great venue to catch up with some friends for casual afternoon drinks and snacks. We were there the same day as a music festival, hut even then the outside music wasn't too loud from where we were inside.
Lovely setting, food was great. Also live music added to the ambience, will revisit
Food was fantastic, service outstanding, location and atmosphere awesome!
Great spot by the river and food was excellent. Friendly staff too.
WE were a group of 8 with 2 late comers. The service was great and very accommodating especially as 2 people were unexpected and late arriving and we were still in time for the opera. Accommodated all the requests and the food was plentiful ,tasty and reasonably priced.
Thank you for making our evening enjoyable and stress free.
The Malt Shovel is a convenient placefor a quick meal prior to a performance in the Dunstan Playhouse. It was lively with after-work drinkers enjoying the good range of drinks and shared plates. The limited menu probably works best as accompaniment to drinks rather than full dinner but the food was fine and the service suitable for pre-theatre eating
All the food was amazing. Great service. A great find. Will definitely be back again
Very creative dish for a taphouse and good wine list, great!
Execellent table service by one staff but not the other.
Very noisy when live singer in the main foyer.
Poor signage for toilets
Friendly, efficient service. Food came in a timely fashion. The vegetables were outstanding. The rotisserie meat could have been hotter. Good atmosphere. Musician was a bonus and was of a high standard. All in all, a really enjoyable night.
Great location and atmosphere. The Feed Me menu could be improved: fried chicken and beef quite dry, also meat and veg dish needs a sauce or gravy.
Very small portion of roast chicken for mains, not even entree size. Still left hungry.
Great atmosphere for friends and fabulous position to view the beautiful Torrens on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.
Excellent location, great service and a good range of food - to share or not. I was there for an early dinner and it was full so I suspect it fills up quickly. I recommend you book.
A great place for meeting friends for a pre-theatre dinner or snack. Prompt service and very tasty food.
Great views of the River Torrens and Adelaide Oval. Pre theatre dinner and drinks. A lovely spot to catch up with friends before the theatre.
Pleasant evening out, good service. Nice wine selection, enjoyed the shared plates. Have eaten here on several occasions and always been happy with the meals.
We had a delicious meal catering for children, vegetarians and grandparents! Thanks so much. Speedy service which was perfect to get to our show on time in the Festival Theatre.
Great spot. Live music is always good. Relaxed atmosphere. Super pet friendly. Often end up here after a walk along the river.
Chose this place due to its proximity to the Festival Theatre where we we going to a show. Service was prompt and friendly and the food great value - we all that the $25 meat choice which allowed one serve of roast and one side per person but can out to share. Dessert cheese cake was also yummy and generous size.
Two minor niggles - our table was in line with open door which made one of the diners cold and the live music was nice but a little loud
The Malt Shovel Taphouse is an excellent venue for a pre-show meal and we really enjoyed the food.
Wait staff were courteous and understanding that we were running late for a show. However, the “available now” meals took 30 minutes to reach table, and for the 200g of lamb, 150g was fat. The chicken was slightly nicer but the pork - at 5pm - wasn’t even available. For the portion sizes and quality it was not even close to being good value for money. Very disappointed-even though the service staff were professional and pleasant and couldn’t have done anything better. The beer was great too.
We really enjoyed our visit. The weather was quite bad but the food was great the selection and recommended beers were good and the service was on point. We would definitely go back.
Could use a fireplace though.
This was my second time eating at Malt Shovel Taphouse. Even though we said that we were going to the show that started at 7.30 we were still almost late. It was hard to get the attention of the staff as the noise was almost too loud and there were several large parties that held most of their attention during the almost 2hrs we were there. It took 10 minutes to get someones attention that we needed to pay for dinner as we needed to go. However the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was great. I would go again, but not before a show unless it was a lot less busy.
