Relax and chill out with superb coffee, interesting wines and intriguing cocktails
Ideal for all catch ups, kid friendly and dog friendly.
I definitely recommend this quiet little restaurant on the river. Efficient, attentive and informative service, exquisite flavours in the duck breast dish, lovely passionfruit brûlée and brilliant long black coffee. Thank you for the recommendation to match the Pinot Noir with the duck - a beautiful wine. The whole meal was very well priced considering the quality and presentation of the food. A great place to treat someone special or visiting the area.
We went for breakfast. You MUST have the toasted banana bread with pistachio butter. SO GOOD! I had the folded omelette and a long black macchiato. My partner had the savory mince and a long black macchiato. When we were seated our server advised that they just got in 2 large tables and to be ready to order in 30 seconds in order you'll have a much better day. We laughed but since we had been there before, we were ready when he came back to take our order. It came out quickly, which was good. :-)
Be sure you make a booking, they get busy and you don't want to miss the banana bread!!
They also have take away coffee if you are in a hurry and just want a good cup.
Beautiful location, excellent service and tremendous value for money.
Lovely experience. Great service and the food far exceeded our expectations
thanks
Was an good experience until we went to pay the bill and we were charged $24 for sparkling water. We were asked if we would like unlimited sparkling or tap water. The water was filled into bottles from a zippo machine, not unsealed bottles of sparkling. So FYI - unlimited does not mean complimentary, and would we have still been charged $24 if we chose tap water?
We went there for my sister-in-law's birthday brunch. It was strange that they asked the occasion upon booking but there was no arrangement whatsoever. It was just an average visit.
The staff are always friendly and attentive. Great location. Food is consistently good.
Wonderful food and service, in a stunning riverside location flooded with light - great for lunch. The sous vide duck was delicious, as was the roast chicken lunch special. Excellent value for such great quality.
Yes because normally staff are very friendly and helpful. We have been here several times and usually have no issues.
Second time we have been to Malt Pier it was wonderful catered really well for coeliac great cocktails
I took my dad out for breakfast here for Fathers Day and it was delicious! Great coffee and can recommend the Savory Mince dish. Big fan!
The food and service was great but the seating was very limited and lacked sufficient space to seat a pushchair, we were therefor left sitting in full sun with a newborn.
Perfect setting for a Saturday lunch. Service and food was definitely worth the trip from Toowoomba. Many thanks to the staff for the excellent service provided.

Great food a d good service . I booked and was running late for breakfast ..they called to say only ten mins left for breakfast. That was appreciated
Malt is a lovely place to meet with family or friends for a meal. Service is always excellent!
Lovely experience with excellent food from a varied menu, attentive friendly service, great ambience and easily accessible with nearby parking on Sunday.
All four of us enjoyed our breakfast! Coffee was small but good. Great location near the water. We’ll be back!
Enjoyed a lovely lunch at Malt Pier. Easy, casual dining options. Service was friendly and prompt.
Food was great. Tables are a little close for conversations. Staff were excellent.
Fantastic food!! Flavours were amazing and the service was excellent. Thank you for a fantastic evening. We will definitely be back!
Great spot lovely crew and good food. My first visit but will definitely return.
Great location, lovely food and personal service - will definitely return.
The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was very friendly and fast but with a few serving hiccups that were quickly resolved. I would definitely recommend to others and am keen to return and try other menu items!
The setting of Malt Pier is lovely and the service was excellent. However I found the menu to be very limited and the meal ordinary. It is an extremely small restaurant but that would have been fine had the food been excellent. Quite disappointing.
Relaxed athmosphere, great food, fantastic staff, scenic view, easy parking.
Amazing service and food in a beautiful location. Would definitely return to try the rest of their menu
I was very happy with the overall experience, although the wait staff could be more attentive to their customers. They focused on the task they were doing, and did that very well, but they had no idea of what was going on in the restaurant. A good waiter will scan all customers each time they walk through the venue and pick up on any needs if there are any at that time.
Thanks it was a good night.
Although the location was nice and staff friendly enough. The food was below par. Bacon under cooked and served on toasted sour bread that was impossible to cut through! It was more like an oversized croton than actual bread. Eggs were tasty though. Overall Disappointing and definitely not worth the price they charged. Sorry... Expected more.
Food was beautiful and nice and the restaurant is in a quiet area
Having loved Malt Dining we decided to try the new addition Malt Pier. Not the full Malt experience and I was a little disappointed in the atmosphere. Very casual. It was disappointing that on a Saturday night they had run out of half the menu leaving us to try to work out who could eat which menu items that were left. Steaks were overcooked and verging on dry even though we ordered them medium rare and asked for more rare than medium. Not what I've previously experienced at Malt dining. Considering there were only a few tables occupied this was really disappointing for a 7.30pm booking. I won't rush back to this venue for a dinner any time soon.
Have been to Malt Pier a number of times. Great food, great location and great staff.
Been here couple of times and food is great! Just to add if you take table bookings and requests don’t then place those customers in the worst spot. Requested outside table and was shoved in a corner by a post. Group came in right behind me no booking and got a Great table outside. Otherwise great little place!
This restaurant is one of my go to places for breakfast. Absolutely love everything about it. It’s great to be away from all the noise and hustle and bustle of the Gasworks area. We have also had lunch and dinner there as well and loved it.
Have been here three times for lunch and loved it, but the food at dinner was poor. Two of us ordered the sousvide steak, I had to send mine back the first time, ate the second one but didn’t enjoy it and I noticed my friend left practically her whole steak uneaten. Disappointed. Such good experiences at lunch time ...
Everything was great except the noise level. We couldn’t hear what the person on the other side of the table was saying.
This is one of our favourite places to eat. The food and service is always outstanding
We had cool breeze keeping us comfortable whilst we had an enjoyable lunch. Food and drink was good and well priced
Everyone enjoyed their meal... delicious! I’ll be going back and would definitely recommend.
Restaurant was very good & food great.
Only issue was parking. Very difficult to find a park in surrounding streets at lunchtime.
Food was great, service was ok but the biggest issue was at 730 pm with 6-8 people still in restaurant the pack up started. It was not subtle at all. We and others were half way through their mains. Heaters were turned off first making it uncomfortable. First three drinks ordered weren’t available. Didn’t bother with dessert as it was going to be too much bother and it was made very obvious that it was time to go. Other people were still there. Was there for an hour, won’t be back.
