Makan is an Indonesian restaurant in the heart of Melbourne CBD by Tasia & Gracia Seger, the winner of television cooking show My Kitchen Rules 2016.

The word Makan in Indonesian simply means eat. It's also used as a salutation or invitation to eat.

Excellent food, excellent and friendly staff. What more can I say? There’s nothing I can fault. I’m not the type to bother writing reviews either. So the fact that I’ve gone out of my way to give 5 stars is a testament to how good this place is.

The staff at the restaurant was superb, being very helpful when asking for advice regarding portion sizes. The food was also amazing, and everyone at the table was happy overall with everything.

I have been for lunch multiple times, food is always great, service helpfull and food is served quickly so I can go back to the office on time, highly recommended.

We found this restaurant using the Open Table app and had never really eaten Indonesian before. It was excellent. Tasty tasty food. The silken tofu was delicious. They handled our allergy well and had a good range of vegetarian options. Lovely space, friendly, happy service. We will definitely be back.

I found it to be too fusion and lost the authenticity of Indonesian cuisine. Having said that, Makan would be a good place to introduce Indonesian flavours to those who are familiar with Indonesian cuisine.

Lovely wait staff, exceptional food. Gentle ambience. Sad they had just changed drink menus so couldn't have cocktail I had last week but otherwise great!
