I am giving this rating based only on the quality of the food. We went to Maha for a 10 course dinner, when the Restaurent was temporarily hosted by Windsor Hotel at Spring Street. The meals tasted nice and were exciting and unique. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow and staff appeared confused in delivering meals and drink. For a long time no one came to take any order. The first meal didn’t come till 40 minutes of our arrival. There was an order of drink which was taken but didn’t show up at all. After close to 3 hours we stopped at 6th course and left the place. I would rate the service 1 out of 5. Overall, it was not a vey pleasant experience. I may consider having another go in the hope of a better experience
Comfortable room, discrete placement of tables and excellent staff attendance. I n particular, the efficient and capable young woman (Spanish background) who attended to all our needs.
The food was delicious and clearly, much effort had been expended in the design, making and delivery of the dishes and this was much appreciated.
We are looking forward to return visits, particularly Maltese Independence Day celebrations.
Fantastic food and service, service at tables exceptional even at 11.15pm
Fabulous food , great idea to have Maha @ the Windsor
Enjoyed being part of the 10 year retrospective of Maha, always amazed at the way ingredients are prepared and put to gether. I also commend Shane for supporting local quality suppliers.
Upon arrival we were shown to a table we did not like. It was tucked behind the bar with no view or outlook. We were given the same table the last time we dined at The Windsor and weren’t happy. Your staff were very accommodating and moved us to another table where I got to see out the window and my husband got to view the whole restaurant.
Our waitress was wonderful, bright cheerful and very helpful. We decided to try some different wines and enjoyed all of them . The food was incredible, so delicious and wonderfully presented.
Overall an enjoyable dining experience.
Just lovely. Food, service and experience first class.
Amazing dinner, Maha never disappoints & lovely being in the Windsor. Without a doubt one of my favourite resturants.
We've been to Maha previously so we knew what to expect. We did the 10 course degustation & it was delicious. It was different yet lovely to be dining at The Windsor. Old world charm meets delicious food!
Wow got to have their 10 course 10yr anniversary...
Everything was amazing and will be back for the third time in May....!
Staff and management were friendly
Maha never fails to exceed my expectations - every dish is perfectly executed. I’m always a little scared that repeat visits will be a disappointment but they never are. Hands down my favourite fine dining spot.
This is our fourth time to Maha and once again it did not disappoint us. The food, staff and wine were perfect for a super night. We look forward to the new decor. Cheers
Staff are just amazng, so helpful and with such great knowledge.
Food, i am lost for words on how good it is.
All four of us were of same view
My wife and I shared the 4 course set menu for our wedding anniversary. The service was wonderful, prompt but not overbearing and disruptive. The food was wonderful for the price bracket. Lots of flavour and very creative. Portion sizes are perfect, you won’t leave hungry. Maha was accomodating for gluten free options which were given the same thought as the regular dishes and we weren’t charged extra. So refreshing. We will be dining here again when we visit Melbourne next. Although we will enjoy the 10 course next time! Thanks Maha.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Would highly recommend Maha as a restaurant of choice.
Dining at Maha @ Hotel Windsor was an absolute treat, top quality food & service! Can’t wait to visit Maha @ Bond St :-)
Every course was superb - not a single disappointment.
Great with allergies. Good portions of food. Service was excellent. Thought wine pairings were a tad overpriced. It was a beautiful space but lacked a little ambiance as it was quite empty (although it was a late sitting on a Sunday night). Overall amazing and would def return!
My wife and I had a great Sunday evening of interesting vegetarian food matched with excellent wine. There were enough other patrons for atmosphere but the restaurant was quiet enough for a romantic night out.
Decided to take my partner here for our anniversary and got to try their special 10 year anniversary menu at Hotel Windsor and was amazed by the flavours that came out of the dishes. Was a really enjoyable experience and a great way to celebrate our anniversary.
Excellent service from all staff. Great cocktails and a fantastic food experience. I could not ask for more. Thank you
On holidays from Perth and went with some Melbourne friends who had been the week before and lived the Souffra menu. Decided to try the 10 course alternative. The view was the souffra was much better. The really disappointing part to an otherwise lovely evening was that we were not told at any stage that there was a public holiday surcharge of 10%. In fact it was hidden on the bill and it was only when I enquired about a credit card surcharge that it was mentioned. I don’t think the menu was good value at $170 a head. Also I think $19 for 150ml if wine is also not great value. We had already rounded up our payment to include a tip and then was still asked for a tip when we paid. When we compare to our experience at say Dinner by Heston this dinner was really expensive and disappointing.
Fixed menu for 10th anniversary included 15 dishes which were all tasty. Particularly enjoyed the lamb, fatoush and whipped white cod roe.
Terrific service from welcome, knowledgeable wait staff, to the farewell. A seamlessly professional but relaxed delivery. Pity The Windsor converted the lounge rather than using the Dining Room for Maha, but still a very charming space and buzzy. Food was outstanding adaptation of flavours to Australian palates without sacrificing cultural integrity. The matched wines were interesting and varied - South Australia, Lebanon, Tasmania, France, amongst others. Memorable.
visiting melbourne for tennis, and had been to maha's previously, and wanted our friends to take the same experience.
Delicious food and well balanced spices and flavours
Always enjoyable at Maha - wherever they move to!
Fantastic menu and the wait staff were brilliant.
I have already recommended it a family member
Fantastic dining experience. The Windsor provided an elegant setting. The staff were friendly & fun whilst providing professional service. We enjoyed all aspects of the souffra menu. The food was delicious, well presented & offered great variety.
Everything about it was perfect, especially the small candle as a gesture for my wife's birthday.
My only regret is that it will not be a permanent location for Maha (well, as far as I know).
My only complaint is with this website - I find it very hard it navigate. I could not change this entry from Adelaide to Melbourne. I leave you to work it out.
Our 10 course degustation menu matched with wines was wonderful- everything we hoped for. Have been to Maha before so we know we would be in for a treat and we will certainly be back!
Beautiful food. Soufra menu was great. For a special occasion wonderful to be in the historic Windsor hotel.
As always the food and service was wonderful. We dined at the Windsor after a 42 degree day. While all the fans were going it still go a bit stuffy by the end of the evening.
We did the Spice Journey. Wld have loved to have done the 10 year anniversary degustation, just cld not imagine doing so much food.
Long awaited visit to Maha from interstate - happy to have dinner at Maha@Windsor (having been guests in the past at the historic Windsor Hotel and having dined in the Windsor's main dining room). The food offering (we had the very extensive four course Souffra) was wonderfully varied with excellent explanations form the waiter. All presentations came at a measured pace and were very attractively done. The ambience was a bit unreal - the large open Windsor main dining room - but we accepted that for what it was. Overall very good value and we would happily recommend the Souffra to friends although the drinks costings needed to be watched closely - we passed on the $70/head matching wines offering. The only sour note was the visual absurdity of one diner (albeit well enough behaved) allowed into the restaurant with running shoes, white shorts and a loose white singlet - no-one else was similarly dressed. The staff should have had the courage to refuse him entry!
Adam at Maha Windsor was very attentive. We informed him that we didn't enjoy a dish, he passed on the message to the chef immediately and we were surprised that the chef cooked us another dish.
Most enjoyable. Food was for sharing and quite delicious. Interesting to dine at Maha in a different setting.
Loved it, thank you and we will be back. Wonderful flavours, great wine list and excellent service !
Our evening with our two closest friends was simply superb . The wonderful food , professional and attentive staff and great ambience of the Windsor dining room location could not be beaten . It's an occasion that will live in memory for us all .
My wife and I have always loved Maha. Everything is always perfect. On this occasion we wanted to go somewhere where we knew the service and food would be great considering we hadn't been out for a while. It is always a solid choice.
We went there for the food and the 'ambience', wanting to avoid the clutter and noise of many of the cafe style Melbourne restaurants that seems to be in vogue currently. We were not disappointed on both fronts and would highly recommend this as a perfect venue for that special dinner for two.
Maha can be described in one word: magical! The food was positively divine and we were both very well looked after by the wonderful staff. Thank you for making our anniversary such a great night and the take-home Dukkah was a nice touch.
