Maha, Shane Delia's signature restaurant in Melbourne, celebrates vibrant and authentic Middle Eastern cuisine with its delectable cuisine, served in its relaxed and atmospheric restaurant. The saffron crispy rice cakes with pomegranate-cured beef and spicy ginger and the stewed onions with chickpeas and celery make delectable starter options. Some of Maha's specialty main courses include the 12-hour roasted lamb shoulder with spicy harissa and pickled radish, the orange blossom-glazed pork cutlet with fennel, sorrel and pine nuts and the market fish catch-of-the-day with a roast lemon yogurt sauce, all of which pair perfectly with a house cocktail, like the Persian margarita with pomegranate liqueur. Maha also has a full vegetarian and vegan menu, with delicious dishes like the chargrilled broccolini with pumpkin hummus and macadamias and the Turkish red lentil dumplings.
For a sweet end to your meal, enjoy the outrageous Turkish delight filled doughnuts with rosewater honey.
Fantastic evening to celebrate a belated 60th birthday.
Awesome ambience, service and authenticity.
Probably the best dessert in Melbourne to finish the tasting menu.
Special thank you to Michalis for his supreme cordiality, knowledge and service; and for adding to what was a great experience.
Extra mention to Derk for his fantastic coffee and orange blossom service at the end of the evening.
A-MAZING! from the moment we walked through the doors, to the moment we walked out with full bellies and big smiles. We will definitely be back.
New Tears Eve
One of the best experiences I’ve had
Food is good but not amazing / mind blowing . It’s very mild middle eastern taste and pretty much fusion I would call this place as a special occasion. But that I would crave or rave about their food . Coming from Dubai I feel this is Australian take on Middle eastern food . It’s a good experience
Unfortunately Maha again delivered a very long delay before being seated! 70 minutes to be exact and this has occurred previously. To top it off we were the last customers in the venue and they stopped drinks so they could close even though clean up was still occurring and staff were all there. Very disappointing as this is a favorite of mine but it sill be sometime before heading back.
Amazing food, awesome service.
Once again had the most beautiful evening at Maha. The food, the service and the overall atmosphere is second to none. Splurged a bit but worth every cent.
Celebrated my friends Birthday and the waitress kindly organise surprised mini dessert cakes!!! It was delicious!! Such a lovely surprise from Maha! :) appreciate it!
Always a pleasurable experience. Great work team, keep it up!
Sunday lunch was an absolute treat at Maha. Brilliant staff, restaurant and total eating experience.
Service was amazing, food spectacular. Didn’t feel pressured to leave.
Fantastic experience for us in Melbourne. Loved the food, the service and the ambience. Most of us in the group were vegetarians and the restaurant had an extensive vegetarian/vegan menu with lots of great options. Thank you to the staff- they were attentive and helpful.
Waiter was annoying
Wine grossly over priced service underwhelming
While service seemed slightly inexperienced (although they are lovely!), the food was quite good and the venue is cosy. Worth visiting for date night if you like what is on the menu and want a good meal without a premium price tag. If you are a foodie, you may find the degustation menus more exciting.
Whenever I am in Melbourne I try to make time for a meal at MaHa, it never disappoints. Today we chose the 4 course menu. Everything was delicious, the beef basturma was amazing, and we particularly enjoyed the chocolate brownie with tahini ice cream and pumpkin ice. The menu changes seasonally so there is always something new to surprise and delight us. Highly recommend but make sure you book ahead.
A quiet evening, service attentive. The quality of the food was reasonably good. We felt the menu options forced us into taking dishes we would not have chosen and didn't particularly feel enjoyed.
Great food. Our second time here.
My friend and I had a perfect lunch experience in every way. We can't wait to go back and will also try the new location in Windsor.
The food was delicious, but the timing was too long in between courses. It was 3.5 hours for a 6 course meal
Food interesting & tasty definitely one of a kind
Service was excellent
It was my first visit to Maha, on a MF&W Express Lunch. The quality of the food and service was excellent and the value exceptional. A big shout out to the Maitre 'd who made the whole experience way more personal. Thanks i will be back
We were there for restaurant express (2 courses and wine). Portion sizes were inconsistent and very small. Service was impeccable, decor and tables need an update.
First time guest at Maha, so took the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival Restaurant Express offer when I saw it on OpenTable - and glad that I did. The selection of dishes available for this offer was more than satisfactory, and I can definitely see what all the hype is about. I'll be making an appearance again soon enough. Also a thank you to the team that hosted us - the service was on point!
My husband and I dined here for lunch for our wedding anniversary and boy are we glad that we did! We have had numerous dining experience and this was certianly the best one yet. Service, attention to detail and quality of the food was next to none.
A very special occassion made even more special by this wonderful experience.
Thank you Maha!
One of the few places I can honestly say was fantastic in every aspect: ambiance, staff, food, beverages & comfort.
Looking forward to my next visit :)
Lovely food with interesting flavours and attractive presentation. Faultless and unobtrusive service.
Good experience ,delicious food
Enjoyed each dishes
At the end we had special Arabia coffee
Only negative point is menu description was hard to read in dim lights
Amazing foods and wines. Highly recommended
it was a great meal; we really should get there more often!
I’ve been here a couple of times mainly on special occasions and haven’t had any issues with the waitresses as they’ve always been lovely and 100% excellent service, but this time the waiter we had spoke in a rough, annoyed manner. Her accent was strong so we had to ask back/forth a couple of times so wasn’t sure if that was what annoyed her. The word I used was can we please get the banquet menu and she snapped ‘no banquet here only set menu.’ She was definitely different to the other waitresses we normally get who were friendly and gentle.
We chose the four course option from an excellent selection of set menus with matching wines. The menu items were of middle eastern origin but made from largely locally sourced ingredients. The wines were of diverse origin, French, German and from the Bakkah Valley of Jordan. Each was an excellent accompaniment to the associated dish. Really well matched to the food. Service was attentive but not intrusive and the pace of the meal suited us perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who enjoys something a little different.
One of the best restaurants in Melbourne
Maha is a very good restaurant in a basic but developing part of the melbourne CBD. The flavours are very good but for lunch Monday the menu is quite tight which I understand as the patronage will be limited. The service was first class and the wine list ( the most important thing) was very good. Had not been there for 5 years but need to go back ASAP.
Have been to Maha for dinner and lunch on seperate occasions. Food is exceptional as is the service. Maha has an extensive wine list, which includes wines from the middle east. The blanc de blanc from Lebanon went extremely well with the meal. The set menus provide an interesting and well balanced variety.
Always an enjoyable experience with not to much to have to think about. Great degustation.
Maha is rated 4.9 stars by 126 OpenTable diners.
