Good food, great service, ambience a little quiet. Seating was a bit uncomfortable unfortunately as we were outside. Comfier seating and a little more room to manoeuvre at the table would’ve been appreciated. I understand things are a little different at the moment, however, with covid restrictions.
Great food, great service, loved the atmospheric feel to the place
Fabulous food would recommend the lamb - outside however well covered over and warm with the heaters great service
Wonderful food, the leak and potato soup was delicious and the lamb was cooked to perfection. Wine excellent too. Cannot wait to go back
Great service. Lovely staff. Delicious food. Lovely undercover outdoor area. A lovely evening!
Very nice bottle of Sauvignon, but otherwise the food relative to the prices was poor. It was clear from the shredded mixed salad leaves served with every dish that the Chef’s culinary skills were fairly basic. Portion size in certain dishes was too large. Drinks menu was limited as proven when requesting an accompanying drink with dessert, we overheard a nearby table requesting Champagne to be told the price of the only bottle available House Champagne. With lockdown lifting Restaurants really do need to be ready for a public ready to be wowed and ready to spend.
Our favourite restaurant in Whitby in ‘normal’ times and it did not disappoint under current restrictions. Everything about this fantastic intimate restaurant is simply wonderful, food amazing and staff so very helpful and pleasant. The courtyard is warm and welcoming, just brilliant! We will be back again very soon 😘
The quality of the food was excellent and the ‘Covid compliant’ arrangement s were good.
Would recommend a visit
Excellent food, cooked to perfection. Lovely attentive service. Cosy setting Perfect 👌
A great effort in a covid safe environment food and service very good The food di not suffer by being served 'outdoors'
Lovely food in the outdoor courtyard. Wine was lovely and the food superb. We will be back! If you want to tip the waitress bring cash. We will remember for next time. Thank you.
Lovely place and lovely food
We have been inside the restaurant (pre COVID) and in the courtyard recently and enjoyed both experiences
Will be back again when we are in the area!
Great food and ambience. Menu prices higher than most in Whitby but well worth the extra. Book wel ahead, it's always busy
Absolutely fantastic service, food and setting - this was for a 50th birthday, and I was so pleased we found it - would 100% re book at Mademoiselles, will look forward to the inside opening up again, too as it looked amazing.
We honestly could not fault a thing, every mouthful of our three courses, were delicious.
Thank you to the staff, for everything.
Food was OK, but not outstanding.
Little competition in Whitby, so probably one of the best by local standards.
Expensive for what it was, especially for the area.
Delicious food, slightly pricey, but good service and beautiful courtyard.
The food was delicious, great service lovely outdoor setting. Highly recommended
We loved this restaurant. Great atmosphere and great service with help on wines and food options. Food was delicious. We couldn’t leave a tip for the staff as no tip on card - cash only. This was a shame as I’d have liked to say thanks to the great service
Lovely restaurant, gorgeous food. Very well managed with the restrictions. Highly recommend.
Selling lidl wine at £26 a bottle isn't on really.
Potatoes bland, mushrooms greasy and all served on a chopping board......just give me a plate!
Lovely food great service, fantastic waitress. Couldn’t ask for more under the circumstances
great food and value for money, the only down side was having to eat in the courtyard due to covid restrictions but we will be back later in the year to try inside.
Lovely relaxing evening. Ambience was cosy and each table had heaters. We were inside/ outside which worked well. Service was very friendly and professional.
They have made a nice outdoor area for dining both food and service were very good. We have booked to dine again whilst staying in Whitby
An absolute GEM in Whitby. The atmosphere was relaxed. The service was friendly and prompt and the food was AMAZING. The outdoor area was also heated and not too overcrowded! We will definitely be returning ASAP!
Excellent food and service, a very rare find nowadays
A lovely atmosphere and decor. This small family run restaurant is one of our favourite restaurants in Whitby. The menu is small but carefully chosen and we found plenty of choice. Everything we tried was superbly prepared. Very friendly and great service.
Really friendly staff
Great ambience and the food was simply the best
One of the best meals we have had in a very long time !!! Totally delicious, very well presented and a lovely atmosphere. Thank you
Excellent food and service if a little expensive
Excellent, as ever. Great food and wine, perfect portion sizes and attentive, but not overbearing, service.
Fantastic pre Christmas lunch - we will return - great food and great staff
Restaurant beautiful outside & inside too . We were shown to our table , the top was very wobbly & in danger of tipping up . The waitress said she’d mentioned it a few times to the boss ! Luckily another table was free . Only one glass of house wine left , so hubby had a beer to start then the one glass with his meal & me a tonic . Started of liver parfait was nicely presented but overpriced at £10 ... I had lentil ragout served with sourdough which was dry . Hubby ordered a venison steak , he got 5 small disks of meat in an overpowering sauce with mash and a few parsnip shavings , very disappointing at £28 . We didn’t bother with deserts.
The waitresses were lovely, very polite and efficient but I think they should be smarter , one had faded black jeans and white trainers .
We couldn’t check the bill before we paid , so had to rely on the print out afterwards , the house wine was £6 on the black board & we had been charged £7.50 .
We did notice another diner also checking the board after he had his bill , another couple also had a wobbly table .
I know times have been tough for restaurants & we try to support the small independent ones .
We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant but we were left feeling underwhelmed & wouldn’t return.. the prices compare to the star but the overall ambience and food unfortunately doesn’t, so we won’t be returning unless things improve.
Excellent alternative to the ubiquitous fish and chips in Whitby!
Nice place to dine. Very good atmosphere. Food is tasty, simply presented. The menu boards were a bit clumsy, but more hygienic than picking up a menu during the pandemic. The service could be improved to make it the dining experience better.
Quality food and service. The dining experience as a whole is the best in Whitby.
Absolutely amazing, not sure there is a better place in the area at the moment. The atmosphere, the attention to detail, the ambiance is lovely the service is top level yet not intrusive. The food is perfection, the Coq au vin was as good as any I have had in France or anywhere, the wine list is very good. Without doubt my favourite place. In 2 minds about posting this in case it gets too popular.
Have been a regular here since they opened. Notwithstanding COVID, things have changed a lot. The menu is probably a little more expansive and the food well prepared and presented. Nothing new there. The service could have been better. Of the three young ladies at front of house only one seemed to be fully trained but all were very polite and helpful. The huge choice of Gins has gone - I was offered Gordons or Hendricks, and the wine list is quite limited. Those who went in its early days will remember the quaint glasses of many styles. All now gone. Having said all of this it was still a very pleasant lunch and well served. The room was cold. COVID rules were very strictly followed by all staff - which is very comforting. Finally, the price is just on the high end of the balance when compared with quality. We'd still go again - it still has a charm all its own.
Nice atmosphere, good service, lovely food. Our ‘go to’ restaurant in Whitby
Hands down the best steak I’ve ever had, absolutely amazing little restaurant. Lovely staff and a quaint festive feel this time of the year. Will be coming back for sure.
