Madame Wu, in Brisbane, serves a fresh and tantalizing spin on contemporary Asian cuisine in its wildly exotic and stylish restaurant. For ideal starters, try an array of dumplings, such as the lamb dumplings with spicy Sichuan sauce, the fried fish dumplings with coriander verde sauce and the pork dumplings with corn puree, all of which are delicately prepared and perfectly seasoned. Some of Madame Wu's specialties include the pan-fried Mooloolaba prawns in nori seaweed butter with rainbow chard, the roasted pork belly with herbs, peanuts and hot and sour sauce and the tender beef cheeks braised in sugar and soy with black bean and chili sauce. Vegetarian dishes, like the stir-fried mushrooms braised in jorim broth with steamed tofu and the green beans fried with soy bacon, are simply delectable.
Hello, I ordered the Moreton Bay bug dumplings, half duck, rice, stir-fry vegetables and tea. I thought the dumplings were hard. The duck skin was enjoyable but the meat had only a few nice pieces, most had tough bits which I couldn't eat. The stir-fry vegetables had so much oil that it was swimming in it. The tea was a teabag - for above average prices I would expect loose tea leaves. The position itself is lovely, the restaurant looked clean and the staff were lovely and accommodating, these are all good things!!! Unfortunately the food let you down, which is why people go out to eat, so it's better than what they can do themselves at home. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend your restaurant to any friends or Businesses due to the food experience. All the best and at least let you staff know they are doing a great job! Thanks.
The food was absolutely fabulous - delicious.
Waiter made all of the recommendations and was outstanding.
Definitely be back!
Food was ok. View from the restaurant is amazing. Great atmosphere
I have tried both banquets and they are both superb. They also make the dining experience very affordable. There is no question the a la carte menu is fabulous but it's so good it's hard to know where to start and finish ordering! Madam Wu Hoo!
Such a beautiful day for my mums birthday! First time at madam wu and it won’t be the last. Lovely spot, wonderful food! Thank you for the experience
Service was fantastic ,food was delicious and the place looks great👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very happy. We had family from overseas and really wanted to be seated outside with a river view. Even at the last minute they were able to accommodate us which was really appreciated, especially as they were very busy. Such a lovely restaurant, great location and great staff, exceptional food every time.
Service was poor food average and overpriced nice location though
We loved the night, had a fabulous meal and was treated so well by Marin. Absolutely loved the night. Would highly recommend and massive thank you to Marin for her fabulous service.
We had a fantastic afternoon with relatives that were in Brisbane for the week end.
The position, friendly and accommodating staff, great drinks and fantastic food made for a wonderful evening. It is not the first time I have been to Madame Wu and it will not be the last.
Food was a little disappointing this time around. We ordered half duck for mains but it was way too salty. We ordered a tasting dessert platter but the waitress just put it on our table then left. She didn’t explain any of the desserts on the plate what we were eating. We had to wait for another waitress who then told us what we were about to eat.
Had the most wonderful meal of beef cheeks . The service by our waiter (from County Sligo I believe) was excellent and made our dining experience exceptional . View is perfectly Brisbane with the river and Story Bridge right there - altogether a wedding anniversary to remember. Thanks to all.
Our family group went for a 21st Birthday celebration and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The venue provides that "special" feeling. The food was excellent, though perhaps a touch small on the servings for the price. The table service by our waitress was personal, warm and genuine. The food delivery was on the slow side, although on that night it didn't worry us - but I can imagine it would annoy on other occasions. At $1oo per head including alcohol, the value was definitely there.
We came to spend our holiday on the Gold Coast and were here for 12 days. This was by far the most superior of all of our dining experiences. The food was amazing, we got the set menu which gave us a taste of all optios. My husband ate everything and he is usually fussy! Well done, great service, location and value for money.
We went to Madame Wu for my husband's birthday. We had the $65.00 per person banquet & paid the extra $5.00 for the tasting plate for dessert. The dessert tasting plate was beautifully presented but we all found the chocolate brownie and accompanying mousse was very very rich and for this reason only, I wouldn't order the tasting plate again. Everything else on there was delicious.
The food was otherwise faultless and the service fantastic - attentive but not overbearing. There was more than enough to eat and the quality and taste of the food made it worth the slightly more expensive price tag.
I'd definitely return - especially for a special occasion.
Absolutely delicious food! Everything was cooked perfectly! I would recommend to everyone. Great service too.
Our 3rd visit as fabulous food, must of picked the wrong nite to dine , felt I was in a niteclub on our romantic dinner date with.hubby , music to loud, but quickly turned down, asked for a balcony seat, said fully booked 3 tables outside still free two hours later and our banquet of nine ish courses were tasteless, and our meal completely finished one and a half hours later , felt Rushed .
Sorry guys think we were paying for the view tonight, looking at the bar !
Unfortunately won’t be returning.
I was surprised to see the highly regarded reviews for this restaurant. My husband and I are originally from Melbourne. We took some friends visiting from Melbourne for dinner. We were all disappointed with the quality of the food. It was at best average. Each dish (except Pork Hock and Beef Cheeks) were lacking in flavour. I believe it is due to 2 things: the quality of the ingredients and the risk of having experimental/unusual dishes. The oysters would have been tastier fresh with lemon or with a simple vinaigrette instead of the umeshu dressing. The oysters left a fishy taste for quite some time after having it. The kingfish sashimi was not served cold enough. The Moreton Bay bug dumplings and scallop dumplings were the most disappointing dishes as they were the dishes we were most looking forward to. It was very meaty with little juice and flavour. However, the service was very attentive and the restaurant was placed in a great location with waterfront view of the review and Story Bridge. If they take some encouragement from Red Spice Road, Mr Miyagi from Melbourne and Ms G's in Sydney, they will do better. Or, maybe the Brisbane palate isn't quite ready for the flavour explosion that Melbourne and Sydneysiders have come to known as standard.
Fantastic staff, food, drinks and river view.
Had a wonderful dinner at Madame Wu on Thursday night. Brilliant view across the river from our table. Service was attentive without being intrusive, which doesn't happen everywhere. The cocktails, wine and food were all delicious - thanks for making it a great birthday celebration!
Great food, service and view! Had a great night and the cocktails were delicious
The ambience for a casual business dinner is great!
We ordered the $65 banquet and enjoyed the range and taste of different food - good for groups if you want to share different food. Service good.
Good food but service at times a little slow. You need to book at least ten days in advance to secure a table outside. The inside tables can be a little noisy.
Good food grwat views and you could hear everyone st the table didn't have to shout above music or or noises
Lunch set menu was good but a bit too focussed on fried chicken at the expense of more interesting food. Good fried chicken, for sure. Can't fault the fried chicken, just not what I expected as the centrepiece of the meal from a reastaurant with this good a reputation.
Service and food was absolutely amazing. We can't wait to return.
We had the banquet, delicious! Great service and perfect view.
Amazing food and service - staff accommodating and very friendly, have been back twice now and will continue to come back!
Great food and service in a funky setting. Went there for hubby's b'day and got a free bday shot to get the celebrations started. The wait staff were fun and attentive. The food were amazing and reasonably priced. Definitely going back!
Delightful food, great atmosphere, wonderful service.
Fantastic food, that is tasty and yummy. Great riverfront view and good staff .
The service and food was fantastic. Highly recommend the dumplings and the sashimi. Beer variety could be improved but won’t deter me from visiting madame wu again.
Beautiful setting and view, it offered a good menu overall. Service was a little inconsistent.
The food, service, location, and view were all wonderful. Unfortunately the overloud thumping music made conversation impossible for over 40’s and so dampened our enjoyment. If this was rectified, this would be the most perfect city location.
All the meals were of a high standard, stimulating to the palate and well presented. Service was very efficient with a timely arrival of food and drinks. Would highly recommend especially for outside dining.
Birthday celebration for my Gorgeous Sweetheart and all expectations were well exceeded with amazing food and exemplary service. Thank you !!!
Outstanding food and service, we were taken care of very well and made to feel special. Amazing food.
Please change the banquet menu as I think it has been the same since opening.
