Food was good, drinks were very slow overall we enjoyed the night
Beautiful night out with my Aunt who trained in Paris kitchens in the 1970s. We loved the whole night, the food, the service, the wine and the gorgeous candle lit decor! A beautiful recreation of French dining.... worth every cent.
Lovely quaint little restaurant. Nice place to celebrate a special occasion.
The atmosphere was perfect and the food was outstanding. We had a three course meal wilhich eas reasonably priced. The wine list was perfect too!
Great food and service. Great atmosphere and would most definitely be going back for more more more.
Lovely night as always :) my partner’s swordfish main was dry which was a shame
The rest of the meal perfect
Service is the best ambiance is bohemian and romantic
Nothing bad, just not fantastic, so not at the top of my fave restaurant list. It was just ok.
Unfortunately we were let down on this occasion. Had been once before and couldn’t wait to get back, was disappointed to say the least. 😕 $430 for 2A & 2 kids. Split bernaise, stale bread - lacklustre in general.
Had friends lining up to go too....
Had to report it wasn’t fantastic.
Ordered the 3 course meal. Lamb and steak dishes for me and the wife. Food that you expect out of a surf club as opposed to posh restaurant. Neither of us enjoyed it.
Asked repeatedly for a low table and were told that the manager would be asked and they would come back to us. Never bothered to do that.
We waited half an hour at least for desert after mains were cleared and no waitress came up to ask if we wanted a drink. Sat with empty glasses and an excuse that deserts are late due to serving a big table behind us.
Great layout and theme of the place but I definitely wouldn’t recommend the 3 course menu. My wife was super disappointed as she expected a lot more from Madame Rouge. Would be hard to consider going back.
Very moody atmosphere, loved the fit out and furnishings.. staff were amazing and enjoy every dish. A perfect evening over all!
We had the 5 course degustation and swapped the sweet dessert for cheese. The portions were quite big for a degustation. It was all delicious, the only downside was the pumpkin puree was cool (temperature) as it had been sat a while before the lamb was plated up. I did tell them about this on the night. It wasn't bad enough to send back, but it was noticeable. The ambience is great - dark furniture and curtains, dim lights, good background music. The male staff member was very knowledgeable about the wine. Will definitely go back.
My husband was keen to dine here as he is from South Africa, we moved here in Jan 2018, and he had read somewhere that the chef is from SA. We were therefore keen to check it out. We also saw there were good reviews. We were super impressed when we walked in. We had no idea the decor would be so exciting and different. We loved the bar set up so much we decided to have a drink there before we sat at our table. The waitress had planned on seating us at the back of the restaurant but because there was a loud and happy table celebrating a birthday near our table, she shifted us to a quieter area of the restaurant which was very thoughtful of her. The wine list is superb and the staff are knowledgeable on the wines. The menu offers a la carte, 3 course and 5 course options. We went for the 3 course. To be honest, I wasn't that impressed with my dishes. There was nothing wrong with them but they were nothing to write home about. My main dish was the one that disappointed the most as it was a lamb dish yet I had more fat than lamb on the plate. I am not a big fan of fat. We still loved the evening, but I will order something else next time. I had the souffle for a starter which was nice, my husband was very happy with the scallops. The banana tarte tartin was DELICIOUS. I can highly recommend this. The cheese plate my husband had, was very good value also. This is a fun place to dine and I think worth a try.
The food was amazing and the service incredible our waitress knew exactly what she was talking about. The ambience is beautiful
The service and hospitality was nice, as were the desserts.
My steak was poor and the bearnise sauce was not great. Quite expensive for the quality.
The table width strangely too wide and seats could be more comfortable.
I've eaten at two other well known Brisbane French restaurants and have lived in France a short while.
I think there's room for improvement.
Excellent food and wine with friendly professional service with beautiful ambiance.
Great authentic French food, service, ambience, wine. Great place to celebrate a special occasion like a wedding anniversary
Very good atmosphere, but tasteless food. Felt like a meal from a hospital.
Was amazing the staff so organized and punctual we loved it. Service was efficient and choices were different that's why we liked it. And the pinot noir mmmmmmm
The food and service by the staff was top shelf. We felt welcome as soon as we walked in and my partner thoroughly enjoyed her birthday surprise. Thanks team!
Great service and great food! Waiting staff very attentive and informative.
Another fantastic dining experience. The food, staff and genuine hospitality has made MR our favourite restaurant in Brisbane. Always happy to recommend to friends and family.
Fantastic Mother’s Day 3 course meal. Scampi & Eye Fillet we’re near perfect!
The seating at the bar was not what I expected, very uncomfortable. If I had a choice again and got offered the bar seating, I would definitely choose a different venue.
the meal and service itself was very good could not fault it
Lovely French-themed restaurant. The decor is fabulous and the service was exemplary. Having booked late we were happy with an outdoor table, but given the cooler temperatures were very pleased when a table inside was offered.
Lots of tempting food, but we limited ourselves to just main and dessert. My companion pronounced her fish as delicious. I felt that the flavours of my beef bourguignon could have been better developed. Standard listing of French desserts as you would expect, but the banana tarte tatin was outstanding. Interesting wine list, including many excellent wines by the glass. Will definitely go back.
Delicious food, excellent service and reasonably priced. Will definatly return.
Great food and service............................
A lovely ambiance and the food was to a very high standard.
Some of the meals were nice but it took ages for our meals to arrive. The desserts were best. The waiter who served them was very abrupt.
Fantastic food, amazing service, great ambiance . Always a pleasure the dine here!!
Was really looking forward to going here, the wines were fantastic. My entree of snail could have done with more garlic butter. My main course of Beef Bourguignon was excellent. The Tarte Taringa was very cold, I always thought this dish was served piping hot?
Utterly spectacular - food , service , ambience. They even provided a lovely surprise birthday macaroon desert and accommodated a late change in numbers to a more intimate booth !!
Dined there once before. Overall standard is excellent, as is the food and wine. Can't fault the staff- they were attentive and polite. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone desiring French cuisine and wines to match. Awesome.
Considering our sister in law "guest" insisted on bringing her dog along with her Wheelie walker, we were thinking our Madame Rouge experience may have been slightly less than perfect. However , we all had a delightful time sharing some magnificent food and wine
Lovely food and great service. I had been wanting to go to Madame rouge for quite some time and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ll be back for sure!
Loved every bit. The staff are attentive, the mood is warm and inviting and the food is exceptional. It didn’t frel like your average Brisbane restaurant, due to the staff’s professionalism and the intensity of their attitude towards crafting the entire experience. We even had a visit from the chef who was a delight. Can’t wait for another visit!
The entrance great - we were wished a happy anniversary and led to our table, with a candle freshly lit at our table for us.
However I think we may have been seated in the worst place in the restaurant - it was right next to the kitchen at an intersection so staff were constantly rushing past our table. The restaurant itself was quite noisy whereas from the pictures I imagined a quieter, more intimate dining experience. They had booths around the side of the restaurant which look like they would have been better but this seems to be reserved for groups of 3 - 4. The decor was really nice but the busy spot we were in coupled with the noise kind of ruined it. I had a look around to see if we could be moved but all the other seats were taken so this wouldn't have been possible.
Meals: The quality of all the ingredients used was good however the dishes themselves fell flat. The most exciting actual French dishes are the entrees, which were nice but not amazing. The mains really weren't that interesting - nice but not great and not really French. Portion size was average which is fine if it is exquisite food but it really wasn't. The sides are a big let down - my potato gratin tasted like bad potato bake.
Service: Service through the meals was good but not fantastic. A few mistakes were made - we had to chase up drinks a few times and she mentioned tips at the end then apologised for mentioning it. The waitress was friendly (perhaps too familiar) which seemed to make up for it. She seemed used to making mistakes. We didn't tip.
On a side note the cocktails were really great. The girl behind the bar making them was very good.
Overall when we left to pay we felt disappointed. Nothing really stood out, meals were OK but not great and the atmosphere was ruined largely to the noise and perhaps our seating placement. For the amount you pay you really expect an amazing dining experience but this wasn't it. I wanted to like this restaurant but ultimately it fell flat.
Great ambience and service. There are a lot of people in there and the acoustics aren't great. 3 course menu good value.
Beautiful ambience and beautiful food. The 3 course set menu was great value for money. Great cocktails, all in all a wonderful experience.
2nd time here and fantastic again. Will be back again
We originally booked for 'bar seating' however on arrival, it wasn't our preferred option and the waitress happily relocated us to an outdoor table. Our waiter was excellent, patient and entertaining. We opted for 3 courses but from the A La Carte because we both wanted the duck for our main. Unfortunately we were disappointed with this signature dish as the duck was cooked medium-rare but lacked in taste and was chewy. All other dishes were outstanding especially the entrees; goats cheese souffle and quail. We loved the lemon tart and profiteroles for dessert. All up a good night and we would recommend the 3 course option next time.
