We really enjoyed our Mad Hatter's Tea at Sanderson. The selection of savoury and sweet was really good and an tasted delicious. We all ordered a different speciality tea and they complimented the food perfectly. Our Server gave us just the right amount of attention and was very helpful. Would recommend this to anyone. You must allow time to sit in all the interesting chairs in the hotel foyer!!

A really cozy experience with a very cute concept. Nice food. Service was really great, but we were placed at table with not heating so it got a bit chilly. Minor problem with the food but the absolutely amazing waitress sorted it well. Would definitely recommend.

Great experience for an afternoon tea. The only reason I dropped the stars is because there were more sweet pieces than savory. Also it’s not your typical afternoon tea with fancy china.
Very overpriced too

We were left feeling disappointed by the whole experience. The service was slow but with a brusque manner leaving us with our food for ages before drinks arrived and seeming inconvenienced when we asked for champagne (it wasn’t offered!). The food itself was underwhelming, in particular the cakes which were messy, bland and generally lacking flavour or much style. It was not worth the money at all. The only plus point was the scones which were really good.

I think it's important for people to know that there is nothing special about this tea that makes you think Mad Hatter except for the tea pot and the potion bottles you sniff to choose your tea from. Also, it isn't explained when booking that sitting in the atrium which is nicely decorated is a first come first reservation only and all others sit what is essentially in the bar of the hotel. It's loud and the environment is not set-up for tea. With that being said, the full tea service is very good but the service could be better. Not sure if the 100 GBP I spent was worth it because of the atmosphere. If you're going to spend that kind of money and truly want an environment for tea I'd spend it at the Savoy or the Ritz.

Took my mum and son on a Saturday in November to celebrate my mum's birthday. After reading some reviews I was a little apprehensive about the level of service, waiting, food that we would experience.
The service was great, always tended to as and when required. The food did take nearly an hour to come out, and we were given complementary cocktails as an apology for this. We sat in the courtyard which was nice and not as noisy as inside (there are blankets on every chair). The food was very well presented, and very yummy. We struggled to finish, so were given a doggy bag to take the remainder home.
This is expensive, so I would suggest it for a special treat, however it was very nice, the service was great, the food delicious.
Thoroughly enjoyed.

Firstly they brought the wrong tea. Food came out and we had no drinks, waited 5 minutes for our drinks.
Can’t fault the cakes whatsoever, they were lovely. Wouldn’t rush back.

The service at the afternoon tea was poor, the drinks took over half an hour to arrive and we were presented with the wrong food. The food was fine - the cakes and scones were nice but the sandwiches were either soggy or dry and not well-presented. It was not what you'd expect for £48 but I think the idea is wonderful and there is great promise if it improves.

For the money we paid, it was a disappointing experience with the food. I ordered vegan afternoon tea, so that may have thrown them off. A regular afternoon tea may be better...I can’t comment on that. However, having paid similar money at Ritz and Claridges, where everything was top notch, I was unhappy with what I got at Sandersons. The food was NOT great. The service was ok...there was only 1 guy waiting on everyone and while he was great....there were too many guests and 1 person serving is unacceptable.

A very enjoyable experience if a little pricey. The food was delicious but I felt that the Mad Hatter's Tea Party theme was rather unimaginative.

Shocking service. I requested two vegan menus. Waiter argued and said I had not. Then said it’s ok, we can cater for that. Then boiling tea was spilt on a guest As the teapot was presented with the spout facing us? Surely some simple training would have made this a whole better experience

The food was average , not really Mad hatter themed , only a few bits but very underwhelming. I felt it was to expensive for what it was. The service was bad, we asked to change seats as we were seated outside on the edge of the garden with no heated lamps near us, when I asked to switch table but was ignored while I saw 3 other couples be moved from the table next to ours. I would not recommend

Rude staff,
Our waitress could hardly speak any English..
Afternoon tea arrived just after we sat down!
Hadn’t even chosen the teas we wanted and were not even offered a cold drink of our choice...
Very mediocre afternoon tea.. overpriced and overrated for what we had.. we stayed less than an hour!

Went to mad hatter afternoon tea for a friends birthday, one was vegan and the other lactose intolerant . The was you choose your tea at the beginning we liked and was a different way of doing it. The drinks service was slow for which our server apologised and gave us our drinks for free. That wasn’t too much of an issue, the food however....not so great. The wrap was lovely but the sandwiches and roll were stale and far too much spread on them, also the mushroom sandwich...neither of us ate much as it tasted awful...and I love mushroom!
The scones were really lovely and probably some of the best vegan scones I’ve had (so compliments to the patisserie chef for them) The cakes were very hit and miss. The battenburg was extremely dense and rubbery and not palatable, the chocolate cake was a bit on the dry side too. The heart biscuit was lovely though, like lebkuken.
It’s a shame as it could have been lovely but they just seem to struggle with their food for people with special diet needs. The waiting staff were nice and helpful. Music was quite loud in there too. Also the 15% service charge....think that needs to be re thought through. Wouldn’t mind if you had 5* quality service and food, but it definitely fell short.

Stale sandwiches, un-inspiring surroundings. Sorry, didnt think it was worth almost £60 per person. Staff were really sweet and attentive, though! Sandersons should be really happy with the people working there. But for afternoon tea you should go somewhere elsem

This was one of my favorite experiences in London! I am a huge Alice in Wonderland friend and was pleased that they had an opening for this experience! I also have a gluten intolerance and the staff made it so I could still get the full experience just safe for me to eat! I was in heaven! The quail egg with caviar, and salmon still makes my mouth water :)

We went to this afternoon tea based on a recommendation online for gluten free tea in London. Our order was lost or forgotten and we didn't receive our food for a very long time. When we did recieve it, it didn't look at all like the one I'd seen recommended - almost like we were missing quite a lot of food from it. We got a discount because of the lateness but with the discount it was still quite pricey and not worth the spread. If you don't have dietary requirements, the regular one looked really nice but if you are looking for GF tea I'd look elsewhere.

I loved the mad-hatters themed tea! The tea selection is a bit limited, but the one I had (Mad Hatters tea) was delicious! The food was good and filling, but the service was quite slow. I felt bad for our waiter— he was pretty much on his own for all of the tables in the courtyard. The actual food took a while to be brought to the table too, but other than that it was a nice set-up and experience.

The hightea was very nice, good service and a nice assortment of hearty and sweet treats. The mad hatter theme could ‘ve been done up a bit more. Seating was outside, which was okay because of the heaters. All in all a really nice though bit expensive experience.

Took our 4 year old granddaughter to experience the Mad Hatters afternoon tea for a birthday treat, thinking it my be child friendly.
The venue was a weird converted office block turned into a hotel. It was served in a courtyard that was “OK”
The cost overall was phenomenal! Charging £35 for a child was extortionate! The food presented for a child was not adapted at all or very fitting. (Please check menu!)
extras we had were:
Two bottles of water = £11
Two nice cocktails at £9.00 each
Service charge £32.00
Total for 3 adults and 1 child = £247.00!!!!!!!!!
We were there for an hour and a quarter. I cringe at how ripped off I feel for this very forgettable experience!
