AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. Having eaten at Maaya many times before our expectations were high and we were looking forward to a nice meal before lockdown. The restaurant was reasonably busy, but the service was quite frankly shocking. It was at least 15 minutes before a drinks order was taken, and we were told we had to order food as well, we assume because of the curfew time. The waiting then began. The music playing was very loud, and we chatted while listening to another group of people complaining about their food and service. Starters eventually arrived and were ok, nothing special though. More waiting, and more and more. Whilst we were waiting we noticed a trolley of food sat in the corridor by the kitchen, it was there for a good 5 minutes while star walked back and forth, the large table naan on it was obviously tired of waiting too as it was leaning heavily against the wall. Our mains arrived 45 minutes after finishing our starters and without exaggeration were pretty much thrown on to the table in quick succession by the girl delivering them, we have never experienced such poor service. To top it all the food was quite frankly awful, it was tasteless and oily and not what we expected, clearly prepared with very little care or attention or pride, the presentation was lacking and the whole experience was very, very disappointing. We will not be going back to Maaya, which is a shame because in the past the food has been amazing, and the service always so good. Something has changed quite significantly which needs sorting out. We certainly won’t be recommending them to anyone we know.
Great food as always, great staff
Excellent value, lovely food. Great menu. Definitely recommend
Amazing meal! Wonderful staff, great ambiance.... can’t wait until it opens again after lockdown!
small portions, very expensive for what you got and not very pleasant taste wise
Amazing food and service would recommend the chicken tikka massala onion barjis fresh breads poppadoms could come with more sauces though x
Found the quality of the food poor.
Lamb was over cooked and rubbery.
There chef special was like a normal chicken tikka but more expensive.
Butter chicken, the chicken was dry and tough and not nice to eat.
Sheek kebabs were dry and not pleasant.
Beautiful restaurant but the prices are too much for the quality of the food.
Didn’t feel like it was fresh food but reheated dozen food.
From my visit before lock down was great. This time I felt robbed and disappointed.
Won’t be going again.
Everything was fine, I ordered the Lobster; the taste was good, but I wasn't impressed with size. It was too small and I would have liked to have seen more shrimp and actual lobster. You should give the option of choosing the Lobster size.
Great food and are adhering to the covid regulations - making customer's feel safe
Booked a table but when I arrived it was closed and not serving customers
Best curry around! A great place with a great menu
Had a lovely meal, sharing the banquet menu. Food was delicious and lots of it. Staff were kind and friendly.
An absolutely amazing experience! Food was perfect, well priced, the staff were fantastic and the actual restaurant was wonderful. Will definitely be returning
Great curry, the banquet is lovely and gives you a chance to try other curries you wouldn’t normally try. The staff are attentive and always friendly. Really good atmosphere in the restaurant, I’ll always be back for more
Excellent choice of dishes with a good variety. Food was served hot and well presented . Waiters were very attentive .
very good all round! have bene here a few times now and each time is lovely experiance
They accommodated our need for a table of 6 and a nearby table of 2 - so that was good.
Food was good - although didnt get my green chillies - but the food was tasty enough without that.
Was a bit on the expensive side but can understand that given the days and times we are in.
Bring back Eat Out to Help Out and I would go there more often!
We traveled a fair distance to get to this restaurant and were not disappointed. The food was delicious, a real Indian taste. The service was very good and friendly. The waiters were very attentive and came over to the table to ensure we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning soon.
The price is too high and portion is too less, food was not tasty.
We placed order for 1 diet coke and they charged us for two
Good food and great service.
We enjoyed ourselves.
Great food. Recently decorated. Friendly staff. Couldn't fault our visit.
Great service, great food (although we went at 12pm on a Sunday so we were the only ones in the restaurant).
I asked the waiter if we could have extra menus as their was only one on the table, he said yes, and when I had to ask him again he said yes I've already told you I would get them ! he had a very bad cocky attitude, if their were correct menus on the table in the first place I wouldn't of had to ask, the table was booked well in advance and was supposedly ready when we got there, however their was no cutlery when our meal arrived had to ask again, and I had to ask twice for the rice I had ordered as the curry was served without it, as well as the poppodoms we had to wait for, they came after the main course, and the bad cocky attitude continued, obviously some of their staff are in the wrong job ! we ordered spicy poppodoms and they gave us plain but charged us for spicy.
The whole experience was very underwhelming, I've been to Maya before, and it was ok, but obviously they now have some staffing issues, they certainly need training in hospitality, so we won't be going back there again !
Second time I’ve been here for evening meal, great food and will return for more
Food pretty average and drinks always expensive. Fourth visit and won’t be going again.
Wonderful meal, friendly staff, nice atmosphere - definitely a favourite!
Crispy prawns & monkfish were excellent.
Service was very good. Food was expensive compare to quantity. I ordered chicken curry and chicken was chewy. Won't be going again.
Only one small issue on the evening but was quickly sorted. Food was excellent and staff polite and helpful.
This is not a curry house - it’s a proper restaurant. The menu is mercifully not as long as some other Indian restaurants. Less is more. There are some usual suspect dishes, interspersed with some more unusual options that are worth trying.
One note of caution - the spice level is a step higher than you might expect. I appreciate that, but others might not.
Food is good
Service is usually good
Ensure you allow 2 full hours for dining
Service was excellent with engaging staff.
The Railway Mutton Curry was a delight and a definite favourite dish for the future.
This is the best curry house in and around Milton Keynes.
Food tasted like an Indian selection box you would get from a supermarket.
Food was hot in some places and cold in others, microwaved?
Lacked flavour all round for the price you pay was expecting a lot more.
Menu looked promising but food did not deliver.
This is the best resturant I have found in the past 14 years of living in Bedfordshire. The first time and definitely won't be the last. Food was extremely tasty even the lamb chops melted in your mouth. Overall a brilliant experience. It is quite expensive here but worth going for a treat.
WE are regulars but on this occasion the food was distinctly dreadful. We left with the impression you were attempting to make up for lost revenue. The VEGATABLE TALI was the worst my wife had ever experienced.
The decision was made as we left the restaurant "never to return"
We received this morning the £10 off voucher - it has been binned.
Great food and really enjoyed. Would recommend them!
Table only had one menu and there was no service for atleast 10 minutes and was difficult to get the attention of any waiters. Food was bland and the wrong item was brought over to begin with. I had to get up to get the attention of a waiter to correct the order. Poor experience overall I would not return.
Social distancing measures were reasonable. Service and quality of food was average. There was an altercation with a member of the public and a head waiter during our visit where I think the waiters behaviour was unacceptable and the situation could of been handled more professionally
Probably the worst Indian I’ve had! Food was not authentic. My curry tasted like a Chinese sweet n sour. My partner ordered the 7 chilli chicken and was told it was hotter than a vindaloo... it was not. Even I could handle it!
The noise levels were too high with chart music blasting. Only saving grace was that they are part of the Eat out to Help out scheme.
Booked in advance and were seated very quickly
Social distancing was good
Nice choice of food
