As always great staff and beautiful food. Never rushed, but always efficient and a perfect pre-theatre venue.
Thoroughly enjoyable experience, food was superb, service exceptional. A great way to start an evening at the theater! Would highly recommend this restuarant.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home.
Our meals were scrumptious and not large but enough. The desserts were to die for; very delicate and delicious.
Our waitress Sally was very attentive but not interrupting. We enjoyed our time at the Lyrebird and left there feeling very happy.
Outstanding in all respects. This is our third time for dinner and again the Maitre D' and the waitress offered outstanding service. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared. We will be returning - frequently.
Dining quickly is not my idea of heaven but Lyrebird and it's staff are used to getting patrons to their shows on time. We dine there regularly before concerts and the staff headed by Dominic always makes you feel welcome and un-rushed.
Enjoyable dining experience. Service was excellent and food was very good.
It was a great option to dine at the Lyrebird with my son. Loved the Kids Eat Free deal. It was a wonderful experience for him. We will return as it made a beautiful evening for us.
Firstly, I don’t think asking for feedback on a restaurant is the best way to ask for a view on how you found it 😊
In any event, we enjoyed our pre-performance dinner at The Lyrebird and they know how to cater for the timeframe of a show performance which is great 👍
For the convenience yes, great food! Mix up with the order and coffee never came so we cancelled it.
Food was exceptional, service was outstanding from Nick!
Main course ran out off what we ordered. Entree tastless ate half. They did not charge me for it due to these issues. Staff good service good
I just love the matinee high tea, such good value and balanced, not sugar sugar sugar.
The finger sandwiches are a treat, generous delicious fillings along with bite sized quiches, followed by a scone with jam and thick cream then finish off with petite fours.
The tea is hot, it is a perfect high tea in my opinion and my male friend looks forward to it too, bonus.
The quality of the food has decreased over the years
Excellent food. Try the cocktail called "Italian Kiss" - very nice.
Lovely and quiet. Perfect amount of food for two in high tea. Close to show so very relaxing way to spend time before the matinee. Prompt and friendly service. High tea lovely also.
I originally booked for lunch but had to accept the High Tea which we thoroughly enjoyed with plenty of time before the matinee. I would do that again.
The meal was very good and service outstanding. However, the entire experience fell far short of others we have enjoyed at The Lyrebird. It was not the delightful experience we anticipated for two main reasons 1. we arrived to find that the menu differed due to the Bolshoi Ballet performance from that of the online menu we researched prior to booking. We were not informed at the time of booking, nor later, that there were changes to the menu & 2. the place seemed more crowded than usual and the noise level was appalling, mainly due to a very loud party of females at a neighbouring table. We were seated almost next to them and couldn't even ask for our meal choices without shouting at our wait staff. Although we had an apology for the noise, nobody asked them to consider other patrons and reduce the noise levels. Overall, our experience was not a good one. We had come out for a romantic evening to celebrate a birthday and had it not been for the quality of the food, we would have left and not returned. I am just thankful that we did not invite guests this time as the evening would have been an embarrassment. Whether or not we attend a show, we are unlikely to consider The Lyrebird for future meals out in Brisbane. I hope you actually act on these remarks as we are sick to death of previously excellent restaurants becoming a disappointment.
Very pleasant experience as always. It is very convenient to be able to dine before a concert with great food and excellent staff.
The food was very creative for the Bolshoi Ballet with the Russian theme.
Creative menu with Russian overtones suited to the Bolshoi ballet season
This restaurant is always consistently good .
Service was excellent , everything ran smoothly.
We will be back!
Dinner at Lyrebird might be worthwhile, but lunch is not, in my view.
I recently made an online booking for lunch, for a matinee performance I was attending. My guest and I discovered only after being seated that "lunch" at Lyrebird consists ONLY of a small high tea.
By definition, "lunch" is a meal, while "tea" (high or otherwise) is a small, between-meal snack.
Despite the Maitre d' arguing with me to the contrary, the Lyrebird website makes NO mention that high tea is the ONLY lunchtime dining option. On opening their website, you see their opening hours and have an option to view the menu. On opening the menu, nowhere is it indicated that the menu is only available at dinner.
Further down the homepage, the reader is advised that the Lyrebird High Tea is "available on selected matinees", which gives the impression that this is an additional option that is selectively available, rather than the only option.
In addition to arguing with me, the Maitre d' did not appear overly interested in my feedback. His comment was that "you aren't the first guests to make that mistake and you probably won't be the last". Really??? If this is a commonly occurring mistake, why not clarify the information on your website so that future potential diners can be in no doubt?
Another couple had a similar issue and left to go across to the bistro, as they also indicated to their waitress that they had expected a more substantial meal.
My guest did not feel comfortable walking out, so we reluctantly stayed and had the high tea. As I am not a sweet-tooth, the only items of remote interest to me were the 3 sandwiches. As the cost of the high tea is $25 per person, this made them the most expensive sandwiches I have ever eaten.
We won't be back ...
We loved the Russian influence in the menu and the lovely setting to complement the event.
I found the maître d to be snobbish. We were dressed in smart casual, however many other patrons were dressed up to the nines to attend the Bolshoi ballet. Even though we had a booking and the restaurant was not that busy, we were shown to a table in the far corner of the restaurant- right next to the toilet door. When I requested that we be seated at any other table, the Maître was put quite put out. He did begrudgingly seat us at a better table. Our waitress was lovely and quite knowledgeable and was the saving grace for the evening. The food was well presented and tasty, the portions were on the small side. Overall I thought it was expensive for what you got.
Love how the tables are nicely spaced, so you can have a quiet conversation with your dinner companion. Menu was a set menu but had good selections. I had the duck, execution was perfect and combination of flavours worked very well.
Overall a lovely meal prior to the Ballet.
It was very convenient to have a meal right before the performance inside the QPAC. Food was generally good but an attempt on the "Russian" cuisine was rather questionable (we are of Russian heritage so can kind-of judge).
This was our first meal at the Lyrebird. The service was good and the meals exceptional. The price was normal for such quality. I have one suggestion - that is to include a non-alcoholic beer as an optional drink. I believe this is an important option for many people.
Very pleasant but noise levels made it difficult to hear the server.
I ordered the blueberry pancakes for desert and they were icy cold. I am sure they should have been hot. Apart from the noise and cold pancakes the meal was a treat.
We loved the atmosphere and pleasant surroundings when enjoying a superb meal. The service was attentive and professional. A fantastic start to a special night at the Bolshoi ballet.
My friend and I arrived half hour early and were able to be seated at our table where we enjoyed a nice glass of bubbles before we ordered our meal. Being able to be seated earlier than our booked time help make our night.
Delicious menu, terrific service, lovely ambience - a wonderful pre-show dining experience!
Lyrebird provides fine dining and attentive service. It caters for people want to go to a performance at QPAC and you can see that the restaurant runs like clockwork to make sure people get out on time.
Food is imaginatively presented and is complemented by an adequate range of wine by the glass.
More generally across restaurants there seems to be a trend to reducing the number of menu items and Lyrebird was no exception. But we found sufficient choice and what they did they was well done.
We have been before and will go again.
Perfect venue for pre theatre High Tea. Staff welcoming and very pleasant. Would recommend booking at Lyrebird for matinee performances to avoid disappointment. Very busy in other outdoor dining areas at QPAC which have limited seating available.
Interesting menu , but Rissotto disappointed . The entries (spanner crab) were very good , lamb was tasty though sparse , but rissotto needed more flavour . Sweets were very enjoyable , finished off with good coffee . We look forward to return visits !
Beautifully presented delicious meals. Attentive but discreet waitstaff. A little expensive, but well worth the extra for such an enjoyable dining experience.
Fantastic food and staff. My wife and I were treated like VIP’s.
First-class food and service as we have come to expect at Lyrebird.
Great service. Arrived a little late. Was off to Tosca and were in fed and out in plenty of time. 😊Many thanks. Beef was cooked to perfection
From the time we entered the restaurant until the time we left, we felt at home. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. The food was good as was the service. All in all very nice.
The menu was interesting and variable with very pleasant service and a restrained presentation.
I especially liked the separate menu for special diets as I have coeliac disease and there was a great choice of gluten-free choices.
Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Staff was attentive but that slightly deteriorated as the venue filled up. The one deterrent was the noise level, nothing negative about the background music. Maybe it was just a noisy group of patrons but it sadly detracted from the meal. Unfortunate error on our account but it was quickly resolved. I would certainly be back for another dining experience.
