I would whole heartedly recommend this restaurant and the tasting menu in particular. Everything was absolutely delicious and the staff were amazing.
The food was lovely and at time memorable, service was at times a bit chaotic but well meaning. Overall we really enjoyed it.
Really great dining experience. Very authentic food. We met the head chef, Pramod Kumar Sah, who it turns out has worked in some of the best restaurants in India, before Harrods etc in London. Hoping to try new dishes as they appear on the menu. Service was great too and playlist upbeat 80's - nice touch. Will be back!
Food was really nice. It is an Indian restaurant in London which I can quote.
Very good food indeed. Nice learn menu. Great execution. Highly recommended.
Overpriced, small portion sizes, and lackluster service. It's not significantly better than your local Indian but is priced for it's Mayfair address. Biryani was average although not as good as Dum Biryani.
Good food, cosy restaurant best for couples or very small groups.
Bathrooms not particularly great, only 1 womens toilet.
Music really destroyed the ambience when I was there, dance followed by Getting Jiggy With It on repeat for the last hour of the meal on a Monday evening.
Every aspect of food is below average - taste, quality, presentation, portions and even freshness. We tried quite a few dishes on the menu and most lacked flavour and were definitely not authentic.
Do not recommend.
it is authentic Indian food that I recommend. the staff are friendly
Food was amazing but very expensive and the portions quite small.
The food was good but service very slow and sometimes rude
We had a waitress who had my daughters food and stopped literally in front of our table to chat to her friends while the food on her hands cooled down
And I eventually called out to her and she put the food down without even an apology
Food extremely tasty, trendy ambience (easy going and not pretentious) and small enough place to be intimate. Excellent service.
Interesting small place.
Good - galouti kebab, pomfret fish musslam, basket of breads, rasmalai dessert
Average - nalli nihari - could be more flavourful and not so creamy or rich ,
Poor - lamb biryani - whilst the the taste was okay, the serving size is a joke for £19. The portion is really tiny.
Chicken tikka - absolutely tasteless, boiled chicken with some grilling. Avoid.
They could make effort to keep some Indian wines on the menu.
Average cost with one drink and food £45-50 per person including service.
Excellent Indian food! The burrah kebab was faultless, the dal and the palak were exceptionally good! Would definitely recommend and visit again.
The food was exquisite: rich, beautifully-perfumed, exactly what one expects from luxuriant Awadhi/Lucknavi cuisine. The problem, however, was that I booked a lunch with someone and told them - based on what I had seen on the website - that there was a lunch offer (3 courses for £25). Upon arriving, I was told this was not available, so we ended up spending £30 per person for only 1 course - more money, for much less food! - and this was very embarrassing to explain to my companion.
We were the only other patrons, which meant we had to shout over for the staff every so often (who naturally weren't doing the rounds on the restaurant floor for fear of hovering above us, which was nice but also meant we did have to shout them over when necessary). The men's toilet door didn't close properly and the lock was sellotaped on, with chairs in the way of the door. I bring this up only because it took away from the overall polish and appearance of the restaurant.
I think management needs to address these issues because, at present, they are undermining the talents of the kitchen staff, whose food is excellent even if the dining experience and misleading website are far from it.
Great food and great service! And very quick service!
There is no variety in vegetarian food
Such a great evening, food was yum, service great, ambience gorgeous and location ace. A lovely restaurant for a laid back meal in the middle of Mayfair also great value for money.
Samosa chat was incredible! Starters were amazing, biryani was aromatic.
Lucknow 49 food is one of the best Indian foods that I have had to this day! It is a little pricey, but so worth every penny! If I were to have to criticise, it would be about the music. I was a little disappointed that they had commercial pop music, when a vast and diverse culture is known worldwide for its Bollywood, and its eccentricity! Will definitely bring more friends and be back!
The waiter we had was very rude
Simply spectacular Indian food. Nuanced, creative, spiced (but not ridiculously so) and flavorful. Setting is low-key & nothing special and server was polite and attentive, but the star is the food. One of my favorite dining experiences of all time in London. It was THAT good, especially the broccoli and the potato pancakes.
This was our second visit and again we were not let down.
The food is tasty and well presented
One small issue was the music. It changed in volume a few times and was not what we would call appropriate for the venue. This of course is our opinion and the volume was adjusted each time.
All in all though a great meal as it was on our first visit.
Food did not have the flavour we would expect based on the type of cuisine advertised in the menu
Great food and good service. Good location.
Food reflected pure Lucknow tastes. Would definitely go back.
Amazing food, probably the best dahl I’ve ever had. The music they had playing was an odd collection of pop rock songs from the 90’s and 00’s.
Good food overall . Starters were very nice . Only criticism was the Aubergine with cashew gravy can easily clog ones arteries with all the fat swimming . Please chef take note !
All in all a good change from Dishoom
Great service and food. They even gave us dessert on the house for my mums birthday.
A lovely welcome and great service throughout the evening. Good veggie options, although I don‘t think the portion sizes represent value for money. I found the wine list also overpriced. Having said that, it’s Mayfair!
Really great food, one of the best Indians I have ever had, service was also friendly and accommodation.
Friendly staff and excellent food.
The food was delicious, they welcomed us and remembered our special occasion daughters birthday & our anniversary and even brought out a dessert and candle for us. The starters especially the gulati kabab & barrah chop were exceptional, lamb biryani was delicious and so was the paneer kofta.
Some of the best, savory Indian food in London, and that says a lot. Excellent lamb shank, the Dal was impressive, and the roasted mixer veg starter was surprisingly inventive and flavorful. Try the Bharbani/chai Negroni!
Best Indian food in United Kingdom. The lamb, The Chicken, The Paneer, The Lachha Parantha were outstanding. No other restaurant can meet it beat them.
Keep it up, will be back soon.
Sadly it took 2 hours from the time we sat down to get main courses. Arrived 658 and mains went down 858pm. Staff are lovely but the engine room seemed to be struggling out back. Told it was due to new menu and having just 2 chefs. I would go back however as the staff were lovely once we pointed out our hunger. Good customer service recovery too from the manager. Food is top notch
Good quality food at reasonable prices given it’s location in Mayfair. Would recommend to friends and family and will visit again if I’m in the area.
Friendly and attentive service. Delicious specialities, especially the lamb.
Overall very good, lovely flavours and great service. Would like to have had one or two more options on the menu, especially vegetable side dishes.
Warm and friendly service, delicious food & cocktails, cosy and settings with mix of chairs and sofas.
