They say: “where there’s smoke, there’s fire”. In the case of LP’s Quality Meats, there’s definitely a whole lot of hot stuff smoldering away behind sliding glass doors, down an otherwise quiet lane, tucked away in Sydney’s up and coming neighbourhood of Chippendale.

At the heart of LP’s Quality Meats pumps a Southern Pride Smoker shipped straight from Tennessee. This beast of a machine creates quality, smoked meats and treats under the watchful and masterful control of eponymous and renowned head-chef/owner, Luke Powell.

Although smoked and cured meats are the headline attractions, LP’s has something for everyone with an ever-changing menu of simple, made-from-scratch dishes designed to share with drinks from the exclusive and extensive drinks menu.

Great restaurant, sounds obvious but only come here if you're after a meat feast. I went with a group of guys and got the $70 banquet, I've never been so uncomfortably full in my life.

Tuesday night was my birthday and I brought a table of 5 in because I've wanted to eat at Lp's for a while now. Food was brilliant, the venue is gorgeous, but the service was pretty shocking. Having worked in restaurants of a similar calibre, I picked up on three major issues. The waiters had their heads down, so when trying to order more wine and bread, it literally took all 5 of us 15 minutes trying to attain any service. Also, the food is seriously good and it isn't just regular meat and two veg, so you would expect to have your plate explained to you when it's dropped, not a mumbled obvious title for a dish I.e. this is the chicken... the final, and most important thing I felt, was that the wait staff barely welcomed us, barely spoke to us, barely served us, and I know you should expect better service just because it's your birthday, but for 120 a head, I was absolutely shocked and disappointed. I would still be recommending Lp's to friends, I'll just be making big mention of the lack of professionalism among the floor staff...

Amazing food, great vibes, delicious wine. Highlights was the beef tartare and porchetta. The pouding chomeur dessert was also stunning.

Very good place if your on a ketogenic diet , great service and the roast chicken was amazing.Ashame the steak portions are so large need at least 3 people to eat

Love the food they make. Great atmosphere. Can get a bit noisy. Can be expensive with dinner costing us $150 (including 1 drink) for 2 people on a night out.

I have been waiting to go here for 3 years (regular holiday trips to visit friends and family) but it just didn’t happen for one reason or another. It was worth the wait. Unfortunately we could only get a late booking so they had run out of the porcetta(which was a big reason for going) but it didn’t matter. Everything was delicious, service and staff were brilliant and the pale ale and cocktails were great too.

Probably the most enjoyable dining experience I’ve had in Sydney. Every dish was amazing, the service was quick and the staff were very friendly. Struggled a bit sitting on the stools without backs, but this was a minor inconvenience.

A vibrant atmosphere and attentive, friendly service. Everyone loved all the dishes served on the 'Set' group menu we chose for Dinner. They complimented each other well and provided a wide variety of tastes and textures. Drinks options also excellent. We will definitely visit again.

This is a very good place. The only slight drawback for me is the chairs without backs, kind of means its better for younger people. Took a star off the ambience for that. Food tasted great though, really loved the squid entre.

This is an absolutely amazing venue with the best BBQ I have had in Australia so far. We had the ribs, pork, blood pudding as well as sausages and all of them were outstanding! Would definitely go there again!

Probably worth a try. The food was nice and the service was good but it was expensive. Also you sit on stools not chairs. I don’t plan to go back but i would not say don’t go because you might enjoy it more than i did.

Ordered a fair number of dishes for a group of two:

Entrees:
-Sourdough with butter; amazing bread with salted butter
-Boudin (blood sausage); mind-blowingly delicious! Savoury, chunky, and juicy!
-Smoked tongue with salsa verde; also a home run! Tender and just ever so slightly smoky. If you still aren't into tongue, you're missing out

Main meats:
-Porchetta; juicy flavorful pork with perfect crispy crackling
-Smoked sausage; a solid smoky sausage!

Sides:
-Corn, groats, bone marrow; this was sadly the dud of the night! :( Everything else we had was perfect but I found these to be very bland. A bit of salt and maybe a sweeter corn would have been great!

20/10 would recommend to friends and family! Affordable and with such high quality food! You need to go!

Outstanding value. Amazing flavours, everything we ordered was unbelievably delicious. The smoked beef tongue was truly an experience and the juicy fat & rind on the pork mains I’d commit murder for!!
Service was prompt, laidback but efficient. LP’s will now be a regular for us. We want to try the beef for mains next.

We had a seat for two at the bar which was reasonably comfy, it doesn't really fuss me to be sat there. Had a great bottle of Malbec to match the meat fest to come. Ordered the terrine which had a great texture but we had to order bread to go with it which I thought a bit odd as just eating a slap of terrine like that seemed unusual. It was decent enough but felt a little lacking in seasoning for my palette. We then had the porchetta which was excellent - all smokey porky goodness with flavours that made me go mmmm. A side of broccolini and white beans was a dish served cold which I felt would have been much better warm. All in all it was solid enough and I would definitely go back for the porchetta and a glass of red any day.

The food, atmosphere and team were awesome - from the time we got there to the time we left. The team were informative, caring and the pace of food to table was perfect. We had a toddler with us and the waitress was so lovely with her too. Enjoyed every moment!

Fantastic night out, well suited to a quick bite, casual date or group dinner. Food was super tasty and fantastic quality - the blood sausage was my personal favourite, but all were delicious and generous serves too. Cocktails were interesting, wines clearly the stronger point on the drinks side of things. Overall our only issue was being able to finish everything we wanted to try! Highly recommend, def would go again

Amazing.
Service was great. Food was sensational. The meat was so soft. Dessert was so good.

Drinks were great and the vegetables were great.

LPs exceeded my every expectation. The wait staff were highly attentive, warm, on the ball and took so much trouble to adapt meals for a food allergy. They also put a candle on the cake for our friend's birthday which was so sweet :) The food was absolutely delicious, all the meats were succulent and had great texture (soft but not mushy) and even the condiments were good. That salsa verde... The thing about this place is that they do a few things but they do everything really, really well. I couldn't believe how delicious their bread was (to think I scoffed at getting a piece! Lucky my friend shared with me!). The one dish that totally blew me away was, surprisingly, the creme caramel. Perfect execution of technique, texture, flavour. It is the best I have ever had and I would go back just so I could eat this again. Who walks away from a meat place raving about the creme caramel and regretting not getting more bread!? I've not been this impressed for a long time - and I eat out a lot! LPs is totally underrated and a total gem. I hope it stays open forever so I can keep going back <3

Was awesome. If I lived and worked in Sydney it’s the kind of place my team and I would wanna go to after a hectic service :) shaved Brussel sprout salad changed my mind on eating sprouts thanks again for a great meal
