Twenty, Princes Street, Grill & Smokehouse
Located in the heart of Edinburgh, just a stones throw from The Royal Mile, Lovage Restaurant offers the complete dining experience where unconventional food and incredible wines are accompanied by informal setting and relaxed friendly service.
Our philosophy starts in our kitchen, where we use quality seasonal produce combined with imagination and passion to create dishes that you want to talk about, you want more of and you will come back for.
Delightful restaurant in alovely part of Edinburgh.
The sea bass was excellent. The Polish waiter was extremely professional.
Excellent in all aspects !! Nice discovery
Good to have several wines offered by glass
Stunning food in a relaxed atmosphere, highly recommended
Lovely service, including a card and free prosecco for my birthday and delicious food
Great food and lovely evening . Staff were friendly.
Lovely menu of beautifully prepared food. Really delicious
The food was excellent, but we were sitting next to the entrance and it was rather chilly... nevertheless service and food to recommend!
Excellent food and a really nice little place. Well worth a stop and not remotely expensive
Very much enjoyed our dinner for my birthday. Excellent tasty food, beautfully presented by cheerful friendly staff. A free glass of prosecco and a birthday card made for a lovely evening. Would return and recommend.
Been on my list for some time and it didn't disappoint - lovely selection of tasty, interesting dishes. Definitely be back.
Amazing food, great service, everything was cooked go perfection and the overall atmosphere was also great!
Would definitely recommend, 10/10.
Interesting, creative menu using seasonal produce and a decent wine list with a good selection available by the glass. Everything we ordered was tasty and the flavours matched well. Very reasonable prices for the for the food and location - we had 3 courses, 4 different glasses of wine and 2 aperitifs for around £100 (for 2).
A Foodies delight in heart of The Old Town just off the Royal Mile. Excellent food flavours cooked to order. Portion size and taste perfection for me and look appetising. Good selection of wine served by glass, carafe or bottle so easy to match with food choices. All in all excellent value and attentive staff.
Top quality fine dining at very reasonable prices.
Unassuming spit you would never know was there but the interior is nice/minimal and the food is excellent. The hake was delicious. The service was a bit slow and our server seemed a bit aloof but overall it was a very nice evening and I would definitely go again.
Small but great place. Food was excellent. Servers were nice and overall OK. Would visit again as the food was amazing.
The food was very, very good and I could have happily eaten anything from the menu. The atmosphere (on a weekday) was very quiet, no real buzz. Weirdly, by 8.30, they kept turning the lights up very brightly and it felt like they were desperate for us to leave. We kept asking them to turn them down but when they did, 5 minutes later they were turned back up again. It put us off having a pudding - we left and went elsewhere. It was peculiar. I would go back as the food was so good but they need to work on their approach to customers......and lighting!
A bit expensive but worth it! Food very nice! We liked it a lot
Perfect hidden Edinburgh gem booking essential won’t disappoint.
A small restaurant with excellent food well served. Not overtly expensive for the quality
The food lived up to the reviews and was served in a friendly manner. Excellent quality in grdients and presentation. We would go back and recommend Love age.
Nice restaurant, relaxing. For really tasty and good quality. The staff is friendly and makes are customers feel important
Lovage was lovely! Simple and elegant decor, quiet comfortable seating, excellent attentive service, delicious food offerings - a very enjoyable dining experience
The menu lacked detail but the food definitely didn't. Beef medallions and butternut squash soup starters were excellent. Lamb and hake mains equally excellent.
This restaurant is a must vist place if you are staying in Edinburgh.
The portions are not over large and the quality is exceptional . The duck was melt in the mouth and the sea bass was a delight. Cheese platter to finish was perfect.
Table service was crisp and friendly.
Nice cooking and loved the quiet atmosphere so we could talk. Good wine too. I thought the prices were a bit on the high side and perhaps some of our dishes were a bit over fussy. But our group enjoyed the evening.
Outstanding food for all 6 of us - a sensory delight for the eyes and taste buds. With all of us having three courses and different dishes we were all wowed with the skill level and detail that each dish was given! A must visit for your next fine dining experience.
Great restaurant. Excellent food and very good value for money. Would definitely recommend if you want a relaxed and informal atmosphere, but still want top-notch food.
Enjoyed a gorgeous meal for my birthday ,I had scallops and the hake,my husband's had a new addition to their starter menu and the lamb which he really Enjoyed,it was all washed down with a good rose wine
My husband and I dined here twice while in Edinburgh traveling from the United States. It was pure joy from the moment we were seated until we left. The waiter was a gentleman and the chef outstanding in preparing our meals. I was even given a menu as a keepsake of our evening. I will include it in my memory book of our trip to England/Scotland.
We thought the food was fantastic. Very flavorful and interesting use of ingredients. We did not leave hungry.
Unfortunately, the main memory of our dinner at Lovage has to do with the guests at the table next to us. The restaurant is small so we were seated close to the next table. The room was half full at the time. The table manners of the man seated next to us were disgusting. I don't know if it was a cultural thing but he shoveled food into his mouth, loudly smacked his lips with every bite and kept on reaching over and taking food off the plate from the person he was dining with (who didn't appear to be bothered). It was very annoying to us. My husband is very tolerant and even he was appalled.
I want to emphasize this clearly was not the restaurant's fault!! Just be aware the restaurant is small so seating is close. If the rooms aren't bustling with conversation you may hear things that you don't like. There was music playing softly in the background. Not enough to drown out the lip smacking.
If we visit Edinburgh again we would return to Lovage.
One of the best meals I've had in a very long time.
Great food, great service, great decor, great night!
Nicely tucked away, excellent quiet space. Great food . Not touristy. Sort of like knowing a secret...
The food was interesting and very tasty although the menu is rather limited. Some interesting flavour combinations which made for a unique evening. A nice place to go for a special occasion.
Excellent food in Edinburgh. Exciting dishes with beautifully prepared components that work really well together. I was impressed. and will be going back.
All a restaurant should be....easy to find, a welcome with a smile, clean and elegant but not OTT, an intelligent menu, delicious food accompanied with good, affordable wines and professional service.
Friendly & attentive staff. Welcoming environment. Delicious meal!
Lunch menu had a great choice. Excellent presentation and flavours in both the starter and main were outstanding. Can't recommend enough.
A bit of a 'hidden gem' - a small but cosy restaurant, although not too cramped. The food was gorgeous - beautifully presented and full of interesting flavours. Service was friendly and unobtrusive, and quietly efficient. A lucky choice from our point of view, we hope to be back!
