Food was fantastic but just don’t understand the overall sullen service we received.
Amazing food and usually good service however this time we booked in for 7 and arrived on time. We told to wait outside even though there was 2 tables for 2 set up. I was advised they were both promised to other people. 20 minutes later 2 people arrived and were seated immediately we then waited another 10 minutes until the girl decided to let us sit at the table as the people who they promised the table too had not arrived?

We enjoyed the food but were very disappointed in the choice of wine as neither the
Riesling nor the Pinot Grigio were available.

Young girl operating bar was quite rude - tried calling four times to say we were running late due to weather with no answer and when we arrived she was not understanding at all, dismissive and told me we had the table for 30 mins which was incorrect as corrected by her boss. A smile and politeness isn’t difficult lady in hospitality.

We Have been to Lotus many many times. Always loved it, however not this time. The crispy chicken was stone cold in the middle. The waiter was very good and took it off the bill and appologised.
Every other course was beautiful, but when I got home I realised that I had been charged $72.00 for a Pinot Grigio that was $65.00 on the menu.
Dissappointing.

The service was somewhat disappointing. After waiting for about 5minutes we weren’t asked about our reservation and told we could be “fit in”. We waited almost 10minutes after being seated before actually being served. Surprising when there was only 10 people in the restaurant.

As always, the food was just great as was the friendly efficient service. The aircon over the door was noisy but obviously essential but maybe a deflecting wing could send the sound up or south?

The food is still good here, but the service seems to have declined since our last visit pre-COVID. Our waiter seemed more concerned with packing up takeaway orders than ensuring our dishes arrived promptly, causing a very stressed but helpful maître de to step in. Let’s hope Lotus Dumpling Bar gets its mojo back - this place used to rock!
Of all the Lotus Group restaurants that I have been to this remains my favourite, it is small and intimate, which means you get great attention from the staff and the food is amazingly fresh. Not a huge menu, but the things they offer they do very well.
Always a treat to take new friends to dinner here, they all enjoy it as well.

Love the original Lotus Dumpling Bar, the best food and service always! The new Lotus in Double Bay is a close second with outstanding service, just wish the menu had more similar items to Hickson Road location.

One of my favourite restaurants in Walsh Bay although on this occasion it was a little disappointing that their full menu was not available (their first day of opening for 2021). Of course everything thing we wanted was off the menu, including all pork dishes and the eggplant which is generally a must-have dish. No real complaints though as our 'second pick' dishes were all delicious. Great little restaurant!

It’s a MUST to try this place!!!
The food was delicious. The dumplings were outstanding and their signature rice is very good with a lovely unusual flavour. Highly recommend the duck pancakes that are quite big with tasty sauce and beautiful duck.
