LidiaÕs Cuban Kitchen is a Cuban-themed restaurant on a mission to serve homemade, authentic cuisine, with the use of only free-range meat and locally grown produce, and traditional recipes. LidiaÕs Cuban Kitchen hopes to evoke the taste of Cuba within all its diners.
The menu features some of the all-time Cuban favorites, such as empanadas de carne, chorizo a la plancha, the legendary Cuban sandwich, lechon asado and the classically Cuban flan de caramel. It is sure to please any palate and the colorful dŽcor will definitely delight. LidiaÕs Cuban Kitchen has now started offering vegetarian and gluten-free foods as well.
Was able to get a reservation easily, which is usually not the case. The dining hall seemed short staffed. We waited a long time for our appetizers, which were then mistakingly given to another table. We requested a new appetizer. When it came, it was wrong. We had requested 2 meat and 1 chicken empanada. we got cheese and spinach instead. When our entrees came out, everything was good. It was my second time there and I enjoyed it both times.
Great service. No rush. Delicious food. Reasonable prices
I had the ropa vieja which was very good, however, my husband had ordered the paella cubana and it was missing scallops. We will try something different next time. The waiter was excellent!
We enjoyed the food and will come back again to Lidia's.
Great service and food
Lidia’s Kitchen this was NOT!
The food was mediocre and lacks the seasoning and flair the original owner had! Lídia cooked with gusto!
1-Ropa vieja was unsavory and lackluster
2-roasted chicken salty and soggy
3- lechón tasted like an old piggy in the blanket? Really sad version
4- tostones was the only redeeming dish
The ambiance as per the new owner; is cafeteria style lighting! If you go out to dinner to sit under bright lights ; you might as well go to the local fast food chain!
Truly a worn out and tired restaurant!
A truly underwhelming experience! Too bad the restaurant continues to call itself “ Lidia’s” IT IS NOT!
It’s over! Not going back ever! If I want Lidia’s real version of Cuban; I will drive down to the beach !
Although the service was good, I can not recommend Lidia's. We ordered the snapper, pollo asado, ropa vieja, and churrasco. The best plate was the churrasco. Unfortunately, the rest of the dishes were bland.
We also ordered a side of the fried yuca but it was disappointing.
We loved the plantain nachos, the spinach and cheese empanadas and the chorizo to start. Our group also enjoyed our main courses and my carne paella was so massive that we've had 2 more meals from it. It's a pretty low key atmosphere so if you're looking for fancy this is not the place. Our service was fine and on the menu it says they work on Cuban time. It may not be the best choice if you're in a rush but if you want to catch up with friends over some good food, I'd highly recommend it.
Always great food and a great atmosphere.
Service could of been better. Very sweet yound ladies but not enough staff. Too many tables for two people. Otherwise, great food, excellent taste.
Great for groups. Service was very good. Especially the young team ;-) so adorable. Food was very good. Fun evening overall.
Food and service very good. Just need to bring your own alcoholic drinks.
Charming little restaurant. Food was really good, very flavorful, reasonable prices, and its BYOB They even offered to make a pitcher of sangria with the wine we brought.
Delicious authentic Cuban food!
I don't often eat Cuban out because I'm Cuban and the food is often not very good. But Lidia's is very authentic. Every dish was perfect, delicious and authentic. Prices were fair, and the BYO policy is terrific. We really enjoyed the restaurant.
Great experience; we had the appetizer sampler and the portions were generous. Main courses were outstanding. Service was good but a little slow. Will definitely return.
All the reviews before mine were accurate. The food is great and the service is terrible. After we placed our orders it was down hill. My friend got up several times to fill out waters! We eventually just took the pitcher from behind the bar and left it on our table! All the staff kept disappearing -my friend saw them all talking together in the back. We waited 20 minutes for our coffee. It wasn’t until we asked again that the waitress went to make the cappuccinos. The food was excellent and BYO keeps the cost down. Cute place but no desire to return.
Excellent food very nice waitress Lilian
Atmosphere was great nice friendly environment
Fresh delicious food..i will definitely be back..amazing place..from appetizers..to dinner to dessert..i give it 5 stars...
The food was very good. The waitress didn’t speak English too well. I ordered salad with dressing in the side. It wasn’t done. I had to ask for the Salad to be served. Also I requested no mussels in my entree. I was served mussels.
I got an email from open table that I never showed up. It was corrected as soon as I told the person at the desk.
The food was excellent! Service was great & the ambiance is nice as well. Real authentic Cuban food. Will definitely come back.
Everything was great except the service. Waitress not very friendly. Kept trying to make us leave to pay the check. When we were ready to leave and pay the check..took about 1/2 hour to come and collect it. Asked several others to get her attention and they said she will come but she kept stalling and ignoring. Iike the place and would give it a try again as it was my 1st time there but others in my group not willing to come back.
The food, service and ambience are all excellent. A perfect BYOB restaurant. Bring your own red wine and they will make an outstanding Sangria!
Everything about Lidia's was great. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food; from appetizers to dessert. It is BYOB and we ordered the mojito mixer, it was awesome. We can't wait to go back.
The food is super yummy! The staff is very friendly. It’s BYOB and they made sangria for us with our bottle of wine ❤️ I had the vaca frita and it was great! My friends had the churasco n they loved it. We had the calamari, papa rellena, and fried yuca for appetizers. I would definitely come back! The portions r large and the flavor is not sacrificed.
My husband and I went for valentine’s day. We live about 45 min away and took the trip because I remember loving the food and ambiance last time. Food was amazing, service amazing, just a perfect valentines night. Thank you!
Food was very good, service not so good. Overall it was good.
Great warm, customer service. Good food. Good ambience. Lovely place to have a meal with close friends and BYOB.
Excellent food, average service, nice atmosphere.
The food was excellent
Not impressed. Only 1 server for the whole restaurant. Food was subpar. I’ve heard good things and wanted to try it. Skirt steak was all fat.
Outstanding service, very good portions and our meals were hot and delicious. We will definitely be back.
My husband is a Cuban born. We love good Cuban food and West New York is a bit of a drive for us. We were delighted to find Lidia’s. We will be back. With tablecloths this would have been fine dining.
Very courteous staff, music is spot on.Appetizers were delicious and Ana our waitress left it up to us to order main meal when we were ready.Ana was very attentive throughout and Carlos the owner even came over to meet and greet us.Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for that old Cuban feel.
